Cute private cabin in the woods...recommend to all. Clean and comfortable, would definitely stay here again.
My husband, daughter, and two dogs spent a weekend here relaxing by the fire. It was a Great get away to kick back, relax, and unwind. My husband loved the fire pit and our daughter was endlessly entertained with the pinball machine. The proximity to town was convinent for grabbing food to grill and refreshments but far enough away that when you are on the property it feels so secluded. We highly recommend choosing Toms cabin.
My boyfriend, dog, and I went to this cabin last weekend, and we had a wonderful experience! Tom, the owner, was very friendly and answered our questions prior to arrival. He even called us as we were on our way to make sure we were getting on alright. We pulled up to the cabin with music playing from the stereo (great quality sound) and a fire had just been started in the fireplace. Tom truly made us feel at home! He stocked us up with firewood inside and outside, too. We cooked all our meals during our stay and brought most of our food supplies with us, but needed a few more items, so Tom suggested a local grocery store, Arnold's. We purchased some local chicken and steak, among other things, and everything was delicious and affordable. He also suggested going for a walk around the forested property and some parks nearby for hiking. We went on a snowy walk, exploring the area around the cabin, and also hiked some easy trails at Giant City State Park, about 15 min. away. The cabin is decorated with an eclectic mix of paintings and model sailboats and has lots of natural lighting from the numerous windows and 2 skylights. It is clean, well-stocked with blankets, and the kitchen has everything you need (minus a spatula and dishwasher). The dog had a fantastic time running around the woods, and we had a very relaxing time watching movies on the comfy couch and bed. We would definitely stay there again and have already recommended it to friends and family! :-)
My husband and I are active travelers we end up staying at cottages and cabins all over Us and this truly was worst expirience we have ever had sadly enough that was our New year stay. What we thought looked great on the picture and reading all the reviews what we found did not at all matched how actually the interior and exterior of cottage looked like. The outside looked as if no one took care of the property in years felt actually very abondoned. The cottage door looked like it needed to be replaced completely.
The porch and Patio had rusty broken down tv antennas and furniture.
The fire pit area was in abondon state as well branches everywhere old broken down chairs so with all the marshmallows that we brought with us to roast we decided to pass.
The bedroom window was cracked in the middle had even old leaves stuck inside when we removed the curtains.
We were shock to find the washer machine and drier right next to our bed. There was only one extra torn down blanket left in the "closet". We paid to the owner full rate in cash for the 3 night stay and actually ended up leaving after the first night and sleeping at the hotel room nearby.
I hope that the owner will take notice and invest some money, time and love into a cottage since the location can probably ans is very desirable for travelers .
This was the perfect setting for my husband, pup and me to enjoy a relaxing weekend away. The cabin was clean and comfortable and tucked away just far enough to provide the quiet and privacy we were after. Tom's hospitality was just wonderful.
