This charming 'like-new' house has 2 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed and a private master bathroom with shower/tub. The second bedroom or 'bunk room' has four bunk beds. Both bedrooms have 'satellite' TV and spacious closets. The second bathroom features a large walk-in shower. Linens and towels are provided.

The living and dining areas are also open and provide excellent views of all the lake has to offer. The dining area features a large 'picnic-style' dining table that seats 8-10 , accented by a large antler chandelier. The living area features a stone gas fireplace, ample seating, flat-screen TV, and stereo. Vaulted ceilings and double French doors add to the open feel of the living and dining areas.
The screened porch is a great place to read or relax while enjoying the sights and sounds of the lake. A dining table and additional seating also makes it a great place to dine or entertain while staying close to nature. A BBQ grill is located near the porch for your convenience. Speakers on the porch allow you to enjoy the stereo while relaxing outside.
The pier has a platform for entertaining and watching late afternoon sunsets. It is also the perfect place to spend a day sunbathing, swimming, fishing, kayaking, or nature watching. No matter the season, the lake house is the perfect place to get away from it all!
It's great to be able to sightsee in Memphis all day then get back and relax by the lake - nice & quiet.
Lifelong Memphian. Grew up spending time fishing and skiing at Horseshoe lake.
It's very convenient to Memphis, especially downtown. Only 40 minutes from our house.
Janet Hill purchased this cabin in 1991
Originally purchased in 1991, it has provided many hours of enjoyment for our family and friends. We decided to rebuild about 6 years ago and knew exactly what we needed in a lake house. From the great room to the screened porch to the large open kitchen, it is very functional. Nice and clean, never musty. It is also the best spot on the lake to watch the sunset!
The unique thing that sets our cabin apart is simply that it has been recently rebuilt from the ground up. Everything is new and no carpet to smell, all stained concrete floors.
We are snowbirds traveling to the gulf coast and this was the perfect place to take a break from driving and regroup. The lake house has a laid back charm to it. The weather was too cool to be outside but that wasn't part of our objective in staying here. I wouldn't hesitate to book this home again.
My wife and I met up with our three college age kids (scattered in three different schools) for the Thanksgiving weekend.
We had a blast! The house was perfect for us, and it's a great layout. Virtually everything we needed to cook our Thanksgiving meal was furnished, and the kitchen is big enough for everyone to help.
We really enjoyed not having to worry about anything other than relaxing with each other.
This is an awesome place!
Perfect for a wonderful weekend on the lake complete with fishing, kayaking, bbq, etc. Clean, open design with all the amenities needed. Highly recommend!!! Many thanks to the owners for making their home available for us/others to enjoy. Wow!!!
Me and four friends rented "Best of Both Worlds" for a weekend getaway from Memphis. After much searching, it was our top pick and we are ever-so-glad that we got it. We enjoyed hanging out and watching movies in the living area, cooking all of our meals in the large open kitchen, and eating around the huge picnic table in the dining area. Our mornings were spent reading and chatting on the wonderful screened-in porch. This lakehouse seems almost new with its surely-recent tasteful renovation. The living room furniture is especially comfortable, as is the patio furniture on the dock. The views of the water are the real seller, though, as you get to enjoy the lake whether inside or out.
Horseshoe Lake is just perfect in the fall. We had a great time swimming, kayaking, sunbathing, and sitting in the porch swing. We also walked the neighborhood streets on a morning stroll. Even though the lake is lined with homes, we still almost felt like we had a secluded space on the water as our own.
While Janet was unresponsive before attempting to book the property, her replies were very timely once we booked. She sent very informative material before our arrival and had a binder full of everything-you-could-ever-want-to-know about the house and lake area available at the property. She even responded to a text almost immediately when we accidentally set off the smoke alarm.
If you do book at "Best of Both Worlds." I'd recommend bringing along any specific cooking items you will need if you're going to be making full meals, as we were surprised that the kitchen did not have some items (mixing bowls, spatulas, large frying pan, large pot, serving spoons, etc). Also consider bringing some extra trash bags, paper towels, and such in case the starter supply they provide runs out. And if you like lounging on the lake, bring your own pool floats and noodles because they didn't have any (which certainly wouldn't be expected).
If you're looking for a place on the lake and not too far from Memphis, look no further. "Best of Both Worlds" will not disappoint. We'd go back without a doubt.
House has been tastefully remodeled and is very comfortable and clean. Deck could use repair but overall great property. Loved it!
No high end luxury but very adequate and appropriate for Horseshoe lake. No restaurants around so bring your own food!
