2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, Sleeps 6 Charming House Located On Horseshoe Lake

Located on Horseshoe Lake in East Arkansas, just outside of Memphis. This quiet lake house treats guests with the sights and sounds of nature in one of the most peaceful environments. Famous for its open water and cypress trees, visitors can enjoy stunning sunsets, swimming, sunbathing, horseshoes, badminton, kayaking, and fishing. Travel 32 miles to downtown Memphis where you can enjoy sightseeing, shopping, dining and dancing. With the convenient location of this wonderful lake house you can truly enjoy the best of both worlds!

This charming 'like-new' house has 2 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed and a private master bathroom with shower/tub. The second bedroom or 'bunk room' has four bunk beds. Both bedrooms have 'satellite' TV and spacious closets. The second bathroom features a large walk-in shower. Linens and towels are provided.

The kitchen features stainless appliances, built in microwave, glass-top stove, dishwasher, disposal, and refrigerator with ice maker. It also features a spacious island with extra seating. The open floor plan allows you to cook while enjoying the beautiful views and visiting with your guests.

The living and dining areas are also open and provide excellent views of all the lake has to offer. The dining area features a large 'picnic-style' dining table that seats 8-10 , accented by a large antler chandelier. The living area features a stone gas fireplace, ample seating, flat-screen TV, and stereo. Vaulted ceilings and double French doors add to the open feel of the living and dining areas.

The screened porch is a great place to read or relax while enjoying the sights and sounds of the lake. A dining table and additional seating also makes it a great place to dine or entertain while staying close to nature. A BBQ grill is located near the porch for your convenience. Speakers on the porch allow you to enjoy the stereo while relaxing outside.

The pier has a platform for entertaining and watching late afternoon sunsets. It is also the perfect place to spend a day sunbathing, swimming, fishing, kayaking, or nature watching. No matter the season, the lake house is the perfect place to get away from it all!

It's great to be able to sightsee in Memphis all day then get back and relax by the lake - nice & quiet.

About Janet Hill

Lifelong Memphian. Grew up spending time fishing and skiing at Horseshoe lake.

It's very convenient to Memphis, especially downtown. Only 40 minutes from our house.

Janet Hill purchased this cabin in 1991

Why Janet Hill chose Arkansas

Originally purchased in 1991, it has provided many hours of enjoyment for our family and friends. We decided to rebuild about 6 years ago and knew exactly what we needed in a lake house. From the great room to the screened porch to the large open kitchen, it is very functional. Nice and clean, never musty. It is also the best spot on the lake to watch the sunset!

What makes this cabin unique

The unique thing that sets our cabin apart is simply that it has been recently rebuilt from the ground up. Everything is new and no carpet to smell, all stained concrete floors.

A Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I met up with our three college age kids (scattered in three different schools) for the Thanksgiving weekend.

We had a blast! The house was perfect for us, and it's a great layout. Virtually everything we needed to cook our Thanksgiving meal was furnished, and the kitchen is big enough for everyone to help.

We really enjoyed not having to worry about anything other than relaxing with each other.

This is an awesome place!

"Best of Both Worlds" was exactly what we were looking for.

  • 5 of 5

Me and four friends rented "Best of Both Worlds" for a weekend getaway from Memphis. After much searching, it was our top pick and we are ever-so-glad that we got it. We enjoyed hanging out and watching movies in the living area, cooking all of our meals in the large open kitchen, and eating around the huge picnic table in the dining area. Our mornings were spent reading and chatting on the wonderful screened-in porch. This lakehouse seems almost new with its surely-recent tasteful renovation. The living room furniture is especially comfortable, as is the patio furniture on the dock. The views of the water are the real seller, though, as you get to enjoy the lake whether inside or out.

Horseshoe Lake is just perfect in the fall. We had a great time swimming, kayaking, sunbathing, and sitting in the porch swing. We also walked the neighborhood streets on a morning stroll. Even though the lake is lined with homes, we still almost felt like we had a secluded space on the water as our own.

While Janet was unresponsive before attempting to book the property, her replies were very timely once we booked. She sent very informative material before our arrival and had a binder full of everything-you-could-ever-want-to-know about the house and lake area available at the property. She even responded to a text almost immediately when we accidentally set off the smoke alarm.

If you do book at "Best of Both Worlds." I'd recommend bringing along any specific cooking items you will need if you're going to be making full meals, as we were surprised that the kitchen did not have some items (mixing bowls, spatulas, large frying pan, large pot, serving spoons, etc). Also consider bringing some extra trash bags, paper towels, and such in case the starter supply they provide runs out. And if you like lounging on the lake, bring your own pool floats and noodles because they didn't have any (which certainly wouldn't be expected).

If you're looking for a place on the lake and not too far from Memphis, look no further. "Best of Both Worlds" will not disappoint. We'd go back without a doubt.

Peaceful, quiet and beautiful house on the lake!

  • 5 of 5

House has been tastefully remodeled and is very comfortable and clean. Deck could use repair but overall great property. Loved it!

No high end luxury but very adequate and appropriate for Horseshoe lake. No restaurants around so bring your own food!

A Great House to relax with family and friends

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay on Horseshoe Lake! The house and dock were clean and well-maintained. Our crew enjoyed fishing off the dock and watching the sunset over the lake. It was an easy drive to Memphis. We would definitely recommend this house for your next lake get-away.

Spacious, relaxing, clean and beautiful sunsets!

  • 5 of 5

It was a pleasure to stay here. We used the lake house as a base for a couple of days when we went into Memphis and it was a great place to come back to. It's well equipped and everything was in superb condition and it was VERY CLEAN. Probably the cleanest rental property we've stayed in for a while. We would have loved to have stayed longer and used the kayak on the jetty (which is a fantastic place from which to watch the sunsets)... maybe next time. Having two bathrooms was also really useful. Dealing with the owners was also easy and straightforward. Definitely recommended!
