We're both from the South. I'm from Florida, he's from Alabama. We love Florida's beaches and enjoy having pleasant weather all year-round. With careers in the military and foreign service, this home allows us to put down roots in a part of town that has it all: old Florida charm, downtown access to restaurants, shops, and culture, & proximity to the beach!
Erin & Eric purchased this house in 2013
This home is a gem in a neighborhood of similarly restored historic houses affectionately known as the Painted Ladies of Gillespie Park! We loved the care and positive energy that the previous owners brought to the house and hope to continue the tradition. By inviting guests to enjoy the house, we hope the home will continue to be filled with love even during the times we're unable to enjoy it ourselves.
Amazing downtown location. Beautifully-cared for home. Historic Florida charm. Modern amenities include central air-conditioning, washer/dryer, dishwasher, and more.
I needed a place for my old, very challenged beagle and I to stay for the summer as I worked in nearby Bradenton, and the Tangerine Dream was a perfect choice for us. The house is exactly as described and in a great location. The owners were great to work with and very understanding of my dog's challenges. They kept in contact without being overbearing at all and even were nice enough to refund a night's stay when I was able to go home a day early. Outstanding stay with nothing but positive things to say about the entire experience. If I'm in the same situation again next summer, I'd definitely rent again! Thanks for everything.
Let's start with the good / pros.... The house itself is absolutely wonderful. Very cute, well cared for and nicely updated. We were traveling with our little dog and it was a perfect place for that. The amenities were great and we were welcomed with a nice bottle of wine. It's close to downtown which was great, easy walk or bike ride. Very quite and quaint neighborhood. I liked that vs. the hustle and bustle of the beaches. Overall I really loved the home. There were a couple of cons, one being if you walk in the wrong direction the neighborhood is slightly questionable and the party store around the corner seemed to attract some questionable folks. Also, the yard was torn up. Which I wasn't made aware of this until the day prior to our arrival. honestly that was a major disappoinment, one of the reasons I rented the home was for cute and quaint back yard as dipicted. I'd have given the place 5 stars had this not been the case. We did extend our stay, well because we were in paradise and could overlook the yard issue. And overall we enjoyed our stay. But my recommendation is to be forthcoming if the rental is underconstruction. Hopefully the next person who stays will not have that experience and will be able to enjoy a lovely yard.
It was our second stay at the house. Great location, close to downtown. Quite neighborhood, plenty of room to park. House has everything needed for an extended stay. Plenty of room for a family.
My experience at the Tangerine House was very positive. The house is adorable and very well kept. It was like being at home. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cookware and there were plenty of towels and even beach chairs. It is conveniently located in a historic neighborhood that is walking distance to downtown. And there is even a park right down the street with a pond stocked with ducks.
The owners Erin and Eric are very caring people and made sure I was comfortable. I would recommend their beautiful home to anyone visiting Sarasota and hope that their experience is as wonderful as mine.
We rented the Tangerine Cottage for one month and enjoyed our stay. The neighborhood is secure with an especially friendly neighbor next door. The property is well taken care of and kitchen is equipped to provide meals at home, if desired. We loved going to church on Sundays at St. Martha's and then breakfast at the Savory International Restaurant (both within walking distance of the cottage). My husband golfed at least three times a week at Bobby Jones public course and had coupons to play at two of the semi-private courses, the Highlands and the University Golf Club. The weather was perfect during our stay. Erin does a great job keeping in touch and making all the arrangements.
This was my wife a I first stay in Sarasota. Boy did we ever pick the perfect house and neighborhood for the month's stay. The place was spotless and
cozy. We enjoy staying in B&B's when we travel and Tangerine Dream could qualify as one. We were able to walk to all Main Street attractions, the water front and the theater district.
Neither one of us could be anymore happier with our stay.
