About Erin & Eric

We're both from the South. I'm from Florida, he's from Alabama. We love Florida's beaches and enjoy having pleasant weather all year-round. With careers in the military and foreign service, this home allows us to put down roots in a part of town that has it all: old Florida charm, downtown access to restaurants, shops, and culture, & proximity to the beach!

Erin & Eric purchased this house in 2013

Why Erin & Eric chose Gillespie Park

This home is a gem in a neighborhood of similarly restored historic houses affectionately known as the Painted Ladies of Gillespie Park! We loved the care and positive energy that the previous owners brought to the house and hope to continue the tradition. By inviting guests to enjoy the house, we hope the home will continue to be filled with love even during the times we're unable to enjoy it ourselves.

What makes this house unique

Amazing downtown location. Beautifully-cared for home. Historic Florida charm. Modern amenities include central air-conditioning, washer/dryer, dishwasher, and more.

Cute little house in excellent condition. Very nicely furnished,.

  • 4 of 5

Close to Main Street Sarasota. Our immediate area was very nice. Having the carriage house occupied cut down on privacy just a bit but that was not a problem for us, The property managers were very helpful and responsive. Overall, Tangerine Dream worked out very well for our February stay.

Owner's Response: Dear Jeanne, We're so glad that you enjoyed your stay, the house, and the neighborhood as much as we do. We're also very lucky to have a great property management team. We know the new carriage house means a shared driveway/grill area, so we did our best to create distinct outdoor spaces for each home with the porch for the carriage house and patio for the main house. It is good to know that the home worked well for you guys and we wish you warm memories from Florida. All the best, Erin & Eric

Old Florida Classic

  • 5 of 5

Underscoring previous reviews about the location in a charming old Florida neighborhood. Great walks to Main Street, Fruitville Avenue shopping, and the Regal 20. Impeccable inside, well equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds and furnishings. This house has been sensitively upgraded and adapted from its 1920's origins. Publix Market is a three minute drive. The Rosemary and Station 400 restaurants are excellent and a seven minute walk away. All around a great place. Two bathrooms for two bedrooms is a bonus. The property managers are attentive and responsive.

Great Summer in Sarasota

  • 5 of 5

I needed a place for my old, very challenged beagle and I to stay for the summer as I worked in nearby Bradenton, and the Tangerine Dream was a perfect choice for us. The house is exactly as described and in a great location. The owners were great to work with and very understanding of my dog's challenges. They kept in contact without being overbearing at all and even were nice enough to refund a night's stay when I was able to go home a day early. Outstanding stay with nothing but positive things to say about the entire experience. If I'm in the same situation again next summer, I'd definitely rent again! Thanks for everything.

Owner's Response: We recognize that pets are key members of any family. We were touched by the dedicated love and care you showed for your sweet beagle, and glad we could accommodate you both during your extended stay in Sarasota. Thanks for taking good care of our home and hope to see you again.

Cute home with a ton of character, clean and well cared for. However yard underconstruction, bummer!

  • 3 of 5

Let's start with the good / pros.... The house itself is absolutely wonderful. Very cute, well cared for and nicely updated. We were traveling with our little dog and it was a perfect place for that. The amenities were great and we were welcomed with a nice bottle of wine. It's close to downtown which was great, easy walk or bike ride. Very quite and quaint neighborhood. I liked that vs. the hustle and bustle of the beaches. Overall I really loved the home. There were a couple of cons, one being if you walk in the wrong direction the neighborhood is slightly questionable and the party store around the corner seemed to attract some questionable folks. Also, the yard was torn up. Which I wasn't made aware of this until the day prior to our arrival. honestly that was a major disappoinment, one of the reasons I rented the home was for cute and quaint back yard as dipicted. I'd have given the place 5 stars had this not been the case. We did extend our stay, well because we were in paradise and could overlook the yard issue. And overall we enjoyed our stay. But my recommendation is to be forthcoming if the rental is underconstruction. Hopefully the next person who stays will not have that experience and will be able to enjoy a lovely yard.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review and sharing your recent experience. We are very glad that you found the house as cute and charming as we do. We're also glad that you enjoyed the experience enough to request an extra night and extend your vacation with us. It is true that we're updating the backyard area to build an improved two-car garage that will better meet guests' needs above the previous one-car garage. We're also adding a one-bedroom guest suite on the second floor of the new structure, which can be booked separately for guests who wish to vacation with in-laws or host other family members or friends. These improvements are major. We were assured that everything could be completed by November 2015, only to learn that the builder needed more time. Since we do not want to disturb guests in the main house with construction during their stay, we unexpectedly found ourselves in between old and new. Though the backyard landscaping is in transition, we worked hard to maintain the functionality of the space. The brick patio with outdoor seating remains, and is now accompanied by a propane grill that we added just before your arrival. No further construction will take place until April 2016, when we'll have blocked a time without guests to complete the new garage/guest cottage addition. Regarding the neighborhood, we feel very safe in Gillespie Park thanks to the care and attention of the entire community. Our neighborhood association has worked closely with city officials to restore this historic downtown neighborhood for the benefit of residents and visitors. My husband and I have a newborn daughter, and we enjoy taking her in the stroller down the block to the playground in Gillespie Park, into downtown for dinner, or over to the bayfront to watch the sunset.
