About tracee

I am the great granddaughter of Gus and Ana Spitzmiller and the granddaughter of Barbara and Gordon Spitzmiller--on the Lorens side. My Dad was Chris Lorens and he was picked from this County to go to the Olympics. I now live in California and recently inherited my dad's property. I have 3 cabins on 6 acres and all are remodeled. I also have a house right where the river enters the lake--if you ever want a 2700 sq. ft. rental, with a Billion dollar view.

tracee purchased this cabin in 1890

Why tracee chose Rocky Mountain National Park

Because it is gorgeous and has everything anyone would ever want to feel at home, but in total luxury. You will love the fine wood furniture and the cashmere throw and the art in both the finishing and decor and in the location and view.

And the canoes are included in the rate!

What makes this cabin unique

Just remodeled-- central heat, fireplace with wood included-- fully furnished and equipped, incl a W/D. Egyptian linens, towels, etc. travetine bath and seamless glass shower. Art everywhere and vintage wood furnishings. oriental rugs--just homey and beautiful and luxurious.

Great weekend

  • 5 of 5

Some college buddies and I got together for a weekend of fishing, hiking, and fun. The cabin worked perfectly for us. Beautiful area, used the canoes one day for a great paddle exploring the nearby islands and then paddled to the dam. A great time. Thanks!!!!!

Rustic.....not rustic luxury.

  • 2 of 5

We have rented from VRBO many times over the past 5 years. We pay very close attention to the reviews of any property we are considering. The only negative review on this property was posted after we were committed to the property; we would have ignored that one negative review in light of so many other 5 star reviews. Now that our vacation is over, I find it somewhat suspicious that there are so many 5 star reviews and find some truth in the one negative review that has been rebutted by the owner.

Things that disappointed us most:

These 6 acres are not surrounded by “meadows”. There is plenty of space or open land between the cabins and we did not feel crowded, but to call it a meadow is misleading. Directly across from our cabin was a large opened area with two swing sets on it. The area had been recently mowed, which was nice, but it was a open area of weeds, dirt and rocks.

There is no internet. In the gray bulleted box under the pictures it clearly says “Internet…..Yes”. Keep reading. It gets a little clearer. Internet is available, if you bring it with you, via a hot spot or a broadband. Locally you can get internet by walking 150 steps up a short hill to a picnic table. That is very inconvenient, considering the changing weather conditions and especially for our guest who needed to stay connected for his business.

The kitchen is poorly equipped for those who want to do some serious cooking. There are odds and ins of “stuff” but we often felt we were roughing it.

The view of the Colorado River is obscured by overgrown brush.

Although the cabin does not face the road, it is within sight and sound of Hwy 34. The sounds of the river did not always hush the sounds of nearby traffic.

It was not spic and span clean. Although generally acceptable (the kitchen and bath were fine), we all remarked about the dust and dirt. Most notable were the windows. And especially the large window in the eating area. From that window you could gaze out at the mountains. In the mornings, when the sun is shining, you gaze through dust and cobwebs.

I strongly feel that we paid too much for the accommodations we had. It is rustic, true, but we expected “rustic luxury” as it was promoted. This cabin fell short of that expectation.

Owner's Response: Dear Anonymous, We are sorry you didn't like our area or cabin. The Rocky mountains aren't for everyone. For us, an open flat or rolling green area where my grandma's dairy cows used to graze, w/ a river running along the side is a meadow. We mow it 3-4 times a week to keep it beautiful, but in our County no one expects sod to be laid to refer to such an area as a meadow. The moose and deer and elk surely consider it a great meadow and visit to graze nearly daily. The area you diss in the middle of the meadow has 2 sets of swings and toys for our child guests who visit and a table for parents to read while their children play. We also have horseshoes for families, a reading dock on the river w/zero gravity chairs, Frontgate furniture ( which we consider a luxury vendor) along the waterfall area for reading and relaxing and fire pits w/ wood included, and free canoes for our guests. The home has all new real hardwood floors and top flight ($45/ft) carpeting, travertine and seamless glass showers in the bath, a hand-made "Sticks" mirror, a front door that's so special it cost $5000.00 alone. We have fine beds and Egyptian linens, leather couch and elephant chairs, and 2 sets of pots and pans, 2 sets of fine china, cups, and glassware, a cuisinart coffee pot, tupperware, cookie sheets, popcorn, tea & pot, coffee for your 1st morning, olive oil, spices, a BBQ, 2 decks, a new W/D and soap included, as well as a blow dryer, and high end shampoo and rinse. Everything is new and well cared for. I'll have the windows washed ASAP! I apologize if they were not perfect, as I demand. We make it clear in several areas of our site that we only get internet if you have a broadband stick or a smart phone w/ a hot spot. We wish we could get more, but we are a very rural community and Comcast hasn't gotten to our meadow yet--they call it a meadow too. They have gotten to the cabin on the highway and to our lake home. That is how we have been able to set up the "WIFI Haven, which you also diss, but is the best we can do. It is a nice lounge area--yes maybe 150 ft from the cabin -with a huge table and lounge chairs and free WIFI at a very fast speed. As soon as we can get more we will. I beg Comcast 4-5 times a year to expand to our meadow. We provide full service care to our guests, and even have an on-site manager, to help you with canoes or more wood for the fire pits or your floor to ceiling natural rock fireplace. We don't have fake reviews, and the pics are accurate.

Great Owner and Great Property

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at this property. It was five of us staying for a long weekend and it met our needs perfectly. The place was clean and in great condition. The owner was very accommodating, communicated everything we needed to know and was easy to reach when we had an issue. We boated on Lake Granby, hiked in Rocky Mountain National Park, did some fly fishing and spent some time in the town of Grand Lake. The location worked really well for us. I would happily stay here again.

Wonderful weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin late June and it was absolutely perfect for my family as well as my parents and brother. Very quaint, nice place. The place was stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed our evenings out by the fire pit listening to the river. Also the beds were soo comfortable as well as the linens. The property manager was available and willing to answer any questions. We had to bring our dogs last minute and the owner was very nice and accommodating to that as well. We enjoyed our time and will definitely be back to this cabin.

Lovely Property & Great Owner/Property Manager

  • 5 of 5

We rent from VRBO frequently and this was by far the best experience we had with the owner and property manager. They were both very friendly and responsive to our every need. The home was clean and even provided robes for us! The creek just outside the cabins and the lake that is just steps away were wonderful and we spent many hours canoeing around the lake with our son and dogs. We highly recommend these rentals and will definitely be back again! Thank you Tracy and Caitie!
