Lake of the Woods House Rental Photos and Description

3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, with private dock and lake views in golf community.

MY HOUSE HAS BEEN SOLD. THE LISTING REMAINS ONLY FOR MY CURRENT RENTERS. RESERVATIONS NO LONGER ACCEPTED. Our home at Lake of the Woods has a large, partially wooded yard, with over 100 feet of lake frontage, a grassy front lawn, and a private dock located at the end of a deep water, private quiet cove. Go boating on the Lake in one of our two supplied kayaks or our stand-up paddle board (SUP), use the paddle boat, or go on a bike ride on one of our many supplied bikes. Golf on the private Lake of the Woods PGA course, or at nearby Meadows Farms. Relax in the hammock beneath the trees, play croquet on the lawn, read while sitting on the screened-in porch, or wind down in the hot tub. Play pool or have a game of darts in the game room. The house is warm and inviting, with natural wood walls throughout. Recent renovations include all windows and sliding panoramic doors; outdoor siding; hardwood floors in the dining room, living room and game room; and ceramic tile flooring in the kitchen and baths. On cool evenings, fire up the indoor gas fireplace while you watch a movie on the 50 inch flatscreen HD television. Use the Weber gas grill on the deck to cook your steaks, or if you were lucky, your fresh catch from the lake. Or if you don't want to cook, there are a variety of restaurants just outside of the gate (as well as at the Clubhouse), and in nearby Fredericksburg. The property is close enough to Washington, DC, Richmond or Williamsburg to allow for sightseeing day trips.

About Robert Berdo

We are full-time residents of Northern Virginia. I work in Washington, DC, and my son is attending James Madison University.

Robert Berdo purchased this house in 2001

Why Robert Berdo chose Virginia

The water activities in the Summer, enjoying the fall colors in the Fall, the greenery and flowers in the Spring, and curling up with a good book in front of the fireplace in the Winter. And fishing, golfing, hiking and exploring year round! Truly a 'Four Season' property!

What makes this house unique

We love Lake of the Woods proximity to the various towns and cities(Washington, DC, Richmond, Fredericksburg, Culpeper and Orange) and our primary residence, the lake and all that it has to offer, and the occasional wildlife sightings. It's not unusual to see hawks, herons, eagles, and many other birds. Golfers will love the proximity to the Lake of the Woods course, and to the nearby Meadows Farms course. Everyone can enjoy fishing off our dock or bulkhead.

Wonderful place to vacation

  • 5 of 5

This property had everything we were looking for in a vacation property and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed all of the amenities and found this location to be ideal for our vacation which was more of a history lesson for the whole family on the founding fathers and the civil war. It was always nice to come home and relax after our daily excursions and the owner was more than attentive to our needs.

Perfectly amazing

  • 5 of 5

This space could not be more perfect. It's right by the water and close to the entrance... So no driving around the winding roads of the lake! Long driveway, and room for cars and a wrap around deck complete with grill and hottub!! And the house is great! I love an upgraded kitchen-- everything is there in great working order. The space is so comfortable and welcoming. The pool table definitely helps pass the time away and keep you from watching tv. Rob let us take out the kayak and John boat... We even caught a fish that we tossed back. :-) the beds are so comfortable and the master bedroom has a covered balcony that is the perfect sunny spot to have your coffee in the morning while still in pajamas. Rob is friendly and a fantastic host. I was heartbroken to learn he was selling the house because we definitely would like to stay there again. If it's still available here, You will not regret staying at this home! Worth every penny and then some!

Amazing vacation

  • 5 of 5

The house is absolutely perfect and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need! The kids made use of all of the water toys and never got bored. The pool table, air hockey table and foosball came in handy on the rainy days. The kids fished right of of the dock and caught quite a few fish. The local ducks and swans made for such a beautiful stay.

Beautiful Lake House Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We chose the house for its location to DC and Colonial Williamsburg. It was the perfect place to come back to after our day trips. To relax in the hot tub, by the lake or on the beautiful decks. Kayaking around the lake was very peaceful and beautiful. The house was very clean, well maintained and had just about everything you could need. The owner of the house proved excellent instructions and information for our stay.I would definitely visit the battlefields in the area and I highly recommend the Mason Dixon Cafe for breakfast and the Spencer Devon Brewing for dinner both in Fredericksburg.

Kid and Adult Friendly

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 young children had a great time at Rob's property during our late April visit.

HOUSE: Very clean, everything (furniture, beds, kitchen equipment, etc.) of high quality, not cluttered. Outside deck was fantastic, with 2 picnic tables, comfortable seating, nice big grill, and lots and lots of deck space. Great place for a crowd. Toys, pool table, ping pong, video games...really well set up for entertaining a family, even when it's raining out. And it has a hot tub!

OUTSIDE PROPERTY: Very well maintained and landscaped. The azaleas were in full bloom. Shady, with a hammock right in the shade that my kids loved. Close to neighbors, but the neighbors' homes were beautifully landscaped, and at different degrees of setback so that no one is sharing the same line of view.

BOATS/BEACH: We loved the paddle boat, aluminum boat. Really unusual to have these many boat options (there was a kayak too). The little sandy area where the boats lie was just enough for my 2 and 4 year old to play while dad took the bigger kids on the boat.

FYI - You have to take an online water safety course to use the aluminum boat.

LAKE/FISHING: Far enough away for your kids not to be too close when you're relaxing on the deck, but close enough to easily walk down to. I think it's a manmade lake, and it's not huge, and highly developed around it with homes (though there are a lot of trees to cover it). You are definitely not escaping from people at this property, which may or not matter to you, but did make it a different experience than vacationing on a more remote lake. We didn't have any luck fishing from the boat or dock, but it was great to have the rods provided to us.

AREA: Beautiful VA farmlands, interesting Civil War battlefields (now preserved with hiking trails, etc.). Few local restaurants/shops - you'll want to get to Fredericksburg for that - but the basic Chinese/Italian delivery places. I think the idea is to enjoy the lake development property, which has a pool, clubhouse, etc. We just went grocery shopping at the very close Lion's grocery store, and then ate at our house.

OWNER: Very responsive and helpful, and treats the guests with hospitality (little things like fluffy white towels and extra soap make you feel like you're at a hotel and welcomed to a vacation, rather than fending for yourself).

There is so much to do at our home in Lake of the Woods! Ride a bike on one of the many paved trails at the lake. Swim, float or sun on the lake. Fish off the dock (fishing poles provided). Go golfing on the lake's private 18 hole, par 71 PGA course, or go out the back gate to Meadows Farm Golf Course, home of the Nation's longest hole. For a complete listing and description of the lakes' amenities, go to LOWA.org.

History buffs will enjoy the various civil war battlefields, including Chancellorsville, Wilderness (which adjoins Lake of the Woods), Spotsylvania Court House, and Fredericksburg. Ellwood Manor, where Stonewall Jackson's arm is buried, is nearby. Rent canoes or kayaks in Fredericksburg, and take a scenic trip down the Rappahannock River. Bald eagles are almost always spotted! Go take a hike on nearby Skyline Drive, in Shenandoah National Park, or spend the day at Kings Dominion (just north of Richmond) riding roller coasters. Have a craving for fresh soft shell crabs or oysters? Go south about an hour to Virginia's Northern Neck. Or visit Richmond or Washington, DC, both of which are just over an hour away. Please note that you may not use your own boat at Lake of the Woods.
