Casa al Duomo is a large luxury apartment in the heart of historic Taormina. This is a prime location with a large balcony overlooking Piazza Duomo and Corso Umberto, where the shopping is world famous.
This location is ideal for a party of two to four people.
Enjoy the experience of Taormina, right at your feet.
The apartment is quiet and located on the 2nd floor.
The living area is 100 sq.m. or 1080 sq.ft. and has two bedrooms, a hallway and kitchen. The living room has a dining area and an exit to a 10 sq.m. balcony facing Piazza Duomo.
The property was perfect for our family, my wife, 18 year old granddaughter, and myself. The apartment is centrally located and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We flew into Catana and Fabio arranged for a driver to take us to Taormina. No need for a car in Taormina. We were meant by Rosemarie who introduced us to the apartment and was always available to meet our needs. Thank you Rosemarie. No reason to look any further for a place in Taormina. And don't miss the BamBar for the best granita you will ever eat.
Location, location, location!!!!! This property could not be located in a more convenient area in all of Taormina! We arrived in the charming city of Taormina on April 28th, in the early afternoon. Finding the exact meeting place was problematic as a first time visitor, but after finally finding Rose Marie, our greeter, we were ushered to a convenient parking garage and proceeded to our apartment....Rose Marie was lovely, spoke beautiful English and had loads of information concerning Taormina and its surrounding sites. It was however, difficult getting in touch with her, as we did not have an Italian phone and emails were sometimes unanswered, as Rose Marie was helping out a family member who was gravely ill. Although the location was fabulous and the first impression pleasant, upon looking deeper, the apartment needed a heavy cleaning. The kitchen cabinets were messy, disorganized and frankly, dirty. The same was true of the bathroom cabinets. The shower curtain in the back bedroom was moldy and there were many personal items in many of the cabinets and drawers. As seasoned travelers, this was below standard expectation. Detail was lacking. Also, a notebook with manuals as to how to operate various appliances would have been appreciated. Prior to our visit, we spoke with Fabio, (his mother owns the apartment) several times on our US phone line, as Fabio lives in Canada. It was great being able to speak with Fabio, as he gave us much needed info concerning Taormina, its surrounding areas, and the apartment. When we were in Italy, and unable to get a hold of Rose Marie ( the hot water had inadvertently been turned off) we were able to communicate with Fabio. He was very responsive to our needs. Before leaving the apartment, I spoke to Rose Marie about some of the above mentioned issues. I am hopeful that our concerns will be corrected and the apartment will become a clean, well maintained property.
The apartment is exactly as advertised, well equipped and furnished, and clean. We (two couples) stayed there a week in mid-October and enjoyed excellent weather. Being right on the piazza we were central to everything, including four weddings in the Duomo. The grocery store is just around the corner if we wanted to cook, or there is a full range of restaurants/cafes within a few hundred meters. We made all our arrangements through Fabio (Rosa's son) with no problems or surprises, and Rosmarie (who is the manager) was only 20 minutes away and could not have been more helpful. If you're planning a stay in Taoromina this is the place. It's also fairly central for day trips. The bus station is a 15 minute walk from the apartment, from which there are frequent and inexpensive runs to Catania, Messina and elsewhere. There is certainly no need for a car or a taxi.
The property exceeded the description given on the web site. It was extremely comfortable and the location was excellent. To sit on the balcony and watch the world go by and the occasional wedding with a glass of wine cannot be beaten. The booking process with Fabio worked well and Rosemarie the housekeeper was waiting in the square to meet us complete with local maps and info. Would definitely recommend this apartment for a quiet break especially if you enjoy food and wine.
We spent 5 nights in Taormina for our sons wedding and this was a perfect place to stay, it was central, homely and comfortable, so close to everywhere. We loved watching the world go by from the balcony, on one day there were 5 weddings , 2 Christenings and a fantastic vintage car display in the the square. Rosemarie was very helpful and spoke good English, she explained everything we needed to know perfectly. The decor of the apartment is quirky and we loved that, lots of interesting pictures and objects, it's also much bigger than it looks in the photos. Taormina was a perfect backdrop for a wedding and there was plenty to do and see
We, two couples, had the fortunate opportunity to stay a week in the Casa al Duomo. The apartment was well represented in the Home Away description and it exceeded all our expectations. The location is ideal and while it is tempting to just stay and enjoy Taormina and sit on the balcony to relax, it was also a great location to do day trips to Siracusa, Mt. Etna, Catania, etc.. Since we also like to cook the treasures we collect from the markets the kitchen in the apartment was well equipment to also meet those needs. On evenings we did not cook the range of excellent restaurants within walking distance was impressive. Parking our rental car in the nearby parking garage was very convenient with easy access to come and go. In addition to the positive attributes mentioned above, the local contact for the apartment, Rosemarie, was very helpful, available if needed and provided very helpful information. In summary, we are very thankful for the opportunity to rent such a great apartment.
