Our beautiful Kailua beach cottage rental, is located on a private lane, and just one house from beachfront. From your gate to the ocean, you're just 20 steps away from the world renowned Kailua Beach. This 1 bedroom, features a queen bed, bathroom, kitchen/dining area that has full size refrigerator, sink, microwave, hot plate, dishes and cutlery. There is a pull out sofa in the living/dining area, that is suitable for 2 children or 1 adult. There is a door that could be closed between the living area and bedroom so that you could have 2 private sleeping areas. We offer a BBQ as well. This is a very private cottage with a tropical fenced in yard, garden lighting, and separate gated entrance with your personal parking area. It's located in a very private residential area, therefore quiet hours are from 8pm-8am. It's important for not only us, but our neighbors as well. Grab a boogie board, some beach chairs and a towel, out your gate, down our private lane and your feet are in the warm sands of Kailua beach. Located just minutes from the great restaurants and shopping Kailua town has to offer as well.
We had a great time. Everything is just as advertised. The beach is amazing!
Very close to the beach but if you want the calm beach for kids its about a mile drive down to Kailua beach park closer to lanikai. This cottage is also close to the town center where they have Foodland, safeway and Target. Restaurants are also within short driving distance.
The place had all kinds of beach toys, towels, boogie board and pool float.
The street is very quiet after sundown which was nice and relaxing. Loved hearing the crickets and waves at night. For the kids, they enjoyed the geckos, little frogs, slugs and there was this huge snail that came out when it rained.
It was very hot and humind when we went. This was due to the hurricanes that passed by the islands. The fans helped but wish there was air conditioning.
Its a cute cottage and big enough for a family of four (2 little kids).
Stayed 5 nights with husband and two teenagers in early April, 2016. Just enough room for everyone. Bed was firm in bedroom. Daughters said pull out was comfortable in living area. There is a door to separate the two areas. Ceiling fan and screened Windows/doors for ventilation.
Garden space was nice to have coffee in the mornings. About 3/4 of the garden space was covered, which is good when it rains. Lots of beach gear was provided and all the necessities for cooking (no range, but there was a double hot plate, convection oven, and another magnetic cook surface).
Coffee pot was programmable so we had fresh, hot coffee waiting in the morning (there was a container with a lid to put coffee in to refrigerate or bring in car for iced coffees too). They also had a cooler bag to use. I would recommend either buying another ice tray (or bagged ice) or start making ice to put in the container in the freezer to have enough ice (they might be getting another tray, not sure) due to no ice maker in fridge, but we made it work.
There was enough hot water for four people to shower, and we had enough room to organize our bags.
The beach was like a one minute walk, we were super close to the beach. Not many people on the beach while we were there during the weekdays. Weather was good for swimming and light boogie boarding (waves aren't huge - just right for kids). No snorkeling at that spot (water was murky. Didn't check the ends of the beach though). People were walking dogs (all under control, no problems) and running on beach - friendly.
Owners were very nice, only saw them a few short seconds a few times coming and going in the parking lot and when we got there. Everything was straight forward and easy to find.
Sounded like neighbors had a dog, but it only barked a few times and only for very short periods during the day (possibly when someone went to their house?), but we were never woken up or bothered by it. Didn't hear any roosters, thankfully. Overall, a quiet neighborhood. Sounds I heard at night were mostly waves, rain, and crickets. There was one night when someone was partying, but it was short lived (maybe vacationers?).
Driving was easy. Shopping and eateries minutes away. And there is a big mall about 15-20 minutes away. Buzz's steakhouse was a good meal, spendy, but isn't everything in Hawaii? Also some good soft frozen yogurt places are close. Also try Lanikai Juice at the town center, very good.
This property is in the perfect location for heading straight to the beach on the best part/beach of Oahu!. We lived in Kailua 2013-2014 and loved it, so we couldn't wait to return to the best on the island.
Spacious enough for 2 adults and 2 kids, where you can cook your own meals and rest after a fun day on the beach. The trade winds keep the cottage plenty cool so there is no need for A/C.
We recommend this cottage to anyone looking to enjoy the island (windward or leeward side) to be close to the beach and best restaurants nearby.
We are looking forward to returning again soon!
LOVE this rental and love the owners....everything is as described; lovely small unit...it worked great for 2 of us...wonderful location...I will return!
It was a wonderful first stop on our Oahu adventure. We are a family of 4 and this unit served us very well! I loved all the decor and loved how close it was to the beach! Absolutely perfect!
