The Edelweiss whirlpool spa and accompanying sauna is open during the ski season to create the focal point for apres-ski socializing. Year round, the guests of the Edelweiss also have full use of the Pool & Spa Complex, located a short distance from the Edelweiss building.

The Edelweiss is an all season resort with activities for everyone.

WINTER: Located in the heart of the Whitefish Mountain Resort Village, just 600 feet from the Glacier Chaser ski lift, our guests have easy access to all the village amenities. Winter at Whitefish Mountain Resort offers over 3,000 acres of downhill skiing and snow boarding as well as cross country skiing, snowmobiling, horse drawn sleigh rides and dinners, night skiing, snowshoeing and moonlight gondola rides. Several restaurants, shopping, child care and ski rentals and lessons are also located in the Village. You can schedule transfers from the airport (Kalispell/FCA) or the Amtrak train station (Whitefish) for a fee. The S.N.O.W. bus shuttles to Whitefish numerous times daily for more shopping, dining and activity options.

SPRING: The transition from winter to spring is an anxiously awaited event. The Whitefish Mountain Resort typically closes after the first weekend in April. As the mountains surrounding the Flathead Valley give up their blankets of white, whitewater rafting and golfing become the activities of choice. The Going to the Sun Road opens to vehicles in May or June, depending on the depth of the snow pack. Mountain bikers and hikers take to the road in May. The mild climate of the Flathead Valley allows the 9 golf courses scattered from one end to the other to get an early start on their season. A couple of golf course openings usually overlap with the last week or so of skiing. Except for lodging, services at Whitefish Mountain Resort are closed into June.

SUMMER: From the Whitefish Mountain Resort Village guests enjoy the view of the Flathead Valley below. Gondola rides, mountain bikes or a mountain hike access the summit for breath taking views of Glacier Park, Bob Marshall Wilderness and the Canadian Rockies. Flathead Lake can be seen as well. Summer activities at Whitefish Mountain Resort include mountain biking, hiking, fly fishing lessons, zip-Line tour, alpine slide, and gondola rides. Summer Season runs approximately end of June through 1st weekend in September. Check with resort for actual dates. There are many other attractions around the Flathead Valley. Guests go whitewater rafting, river fishing, wildlife viewing, golfing and boating on Whitefish or Flathead Lake. Many people visit Glacier more than once during their stay and hiking and mountain biking opportunities in the area are plentiful. Galleries and museums are popular attractions as well. In the summer we recommend a rental car if you travel to the area by airplane or Amtrak.

Glacier National Park

A scenic 31 mile drive from Whitefish Mountain Resort, Glacier National Park is a must see during your visit to Whitefish in both winter and summer. Stunning vistas, glacial fields, crystal clear lakes and outstanding wildlife viewing, Glacier is truly the Crown of the Continent.

Summer adventure in Glacier abounds. Drive the scenic and historic Going-to-the-Sun Road, take a boat tour on one of the glacial lakes or explore the miles and miles of hiking trails. In the winter, take a guided snow shoe or cross-country ski tour and experience the quiet beauty of the park. Not sure where to start? Give us a call at 406-862-2990 and we can link you with one of our partner guiding services for a personalized Glacier experience.

Over 1,000,000 acres!

130 named lakes

25 active glaciers

1,000 species of plants

100s of species of animals

FALL: The changing colors are spectacular in September and October. Summer activities in the Flathead Valley and Whitefish Mountain Resort continue into September. The weather is normally dependable in September with sunny warm days and cool nights. Glacier Park is fully accessible until snow closes the Going to the Sun Road late in October or in November. Cross country skiing and snow shoeing take over then as the preferred modes of transportation. October is a transition month with many attractions and activities closed. It is a very quiet time.

Why Shirley Woodward chose Montana

We fell in love with the area and the Edelweiss is like owning a little bit of paradise.

Great Location!

  • 4 of 5

The condo was edelweiss 303 and even though it was on the third floor without an elevator it was not bad to carry everything up the stairs. The condo's kitchen was stocked well with plenty of cooking utensils. We will defiantly book again!

Great stay!

  • 4 of 5

What a wonderful condo! The only drawback was no air conditioning but it did cool off in the evening with the windows open. Very quite with it being on the hill.

Owner's Response: We're glad you enjoyed your stay at The Edelweiss. Yes, the mountain is quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle in the valley. We're grateful for the warm, sunny days but also for the cool evenings. We look forward to you returning to The Edelweiss and perhaps experiencing the other seasons on the Big Mountain.

Excellent location for ski in/out

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this property for 4 days and really enjoyed the location of this condo to the shops on the hill, and the proximity to the ski lifts. We were greeted with some freshly baked cookies and a welcome card thanking us for staying with them.

The room was spacious and clean, and they supplied us with all the necessities needed to get by for the week. All we had to do was supply the food and we were set.

The hot tub and sauna are very close, so there was no need to put on a house coat to walk the short distance to the building with the hot tub. We also had the use of the outdoor hot tub, and pool in another building that was about a block away. You had a choice of walking 5 minutes there, or a shuttle can come and pick you up and give you a ride both ways. This was nice.

The only problem I ran into is that the toaster only toasted 1 side of the bread. This was rectified by flipping the toast and cooking the other side. As you can see, pretty minor complaint :)

I would definitely recommend staying in this condo and skiing Whitefish.

You cannot put a price on the LOCATION of this condo. We were literally steps from the chair and it was worth every penny. No more packing up in the morning for the ride to the resort, trekking through the parking lot, lunching in the day lodge then packing up again for the ride back to off hill accommodation. There is no comparison to the luxury of a ski-in/ski-out condo. We were up early, skiing with the little ones, our teenagers slept in and took to the slopes mid-morning and when all of the children were tuckered out, my wife and I enjoyed some romantic night skiing. We really appreciated the hospitality extended to us by the owners and for their promptness in returning our emails. We will definitely be back and will recommend this condo to our friends. Thanks for a great vacation.
