This 5 bedroom home is perfect for two or three families to share. It is just steps from the beach, a short walk to town and a quick bike ride to Cape Henlopen State Park. We promise that within moments of entering the house, you will breathe a sigh of utter relaxation and joy. Each room is exquisitely decorated and the peaceful feel is maintained throughout the house. The first floor has three bedrooms (one King, one with two twins and the third with bunks for 6 kids!) and one bath.
The second floor features a cathedral ceiling, the gourmet kitchen and eating area, the living room with fireplace, a screened porch as well as two more bedrooms (one with a Queen, the other a master suite with a King as well as a daybed that converts to two twins) and two full baths. The second floor porch and the third floor deck boast gorgeous views of the water. Outside is an outdoor shower and a charming outdoor dining area and patio with a gas grill.
The house was fully renovated in the fall of 2012 and the beds, mattresses, furniture are all new in 2013.
Best part...the beach is twenty steps from the front of the house.
We live just outside of Washington DC and love the fact that Lewes is just a little over 2 hours away. Our family in Philadelphia can also make the easy 2 hour drive, so it is ideally located.
Owner Manager/Property Manager purchased this house in 2012
The views take your breath away and the location is perfect. On the beach in no time, but easy access (a short walk) to the quaint town where you can enjoy the many wonderful shops, museums and restaurants in Lewes.
This review is well overdue. I booked this house over Thanksgiving weekend. 5 months later, my family still mentions how perfectly this house met our needs. In total, our group consisted of 7 adults, 5 kids & 1 infant. The house offered plenty of space for everyone to spread out and have private bedrooms, yet the common areas were open and inviting. The house was clean and the furniture was in great condition. The kids LOVED having a bunk room all to their own (so nice that it had a kiddie table and chairs too). The various spiral staircases (up to the master loft and up to the rooftop deck) added to the "cool" vibe of the house. It was a bit chilly in the main eating area off of the kitchen given all the windows in this enclosed porch setting. I believe there was a stove in this room that we could have used to warm up the space but since we were in the area visiting relatives, we didn't eat too many meals in the house besides breakfast and hanging around the kitchen island suited our needs just fine. The house is in a great location. You can easily walk into town or head up to relax on the sand (or in our case, let the kids run wild for a bit!) Besides the great property, the owner Kristin was very pleasant to deal with via email and extremely responsive to questions prior to our arrival. I would recommend this property to anyone traveling with a large group- you will not be disappointed.
Absolutely beautiful home in an equally beautiful setting! Husband and I, our four grown children, and their families were able to enjoy a long weekend together in beautiful fall weather. Hard to find a home to fit us all and even harder to do for just a weekend. We have been vacationing in Lewes for many years - in our experience the most perfect beach town on the East Coast - and rented many different homes. Everyone in the family, from oldest to youngest, loved this place! The rooftop deck was a special favorite spot for watching the sunrise in the morning and the stars at night.
Just returned from a perfect week at the beach. This house was the best we have ever stayed in. Kitchen well equipped with plenty of space. View of bay while eating was great. And beach a very short walk, great for little ones. Plenty of room even with 15-16 people. Five stars for this vacation home!
We had 6 adults and 4 children 3 and under for a full week. It was the perfect location for us! The beach was an easy walk for even the little ones. The bay is excellent for the small ones, with no worry over waves or crowds. The area was quiet so getting them down at night was easy. Everything we needed was provided, including beach furniture and beach toys. The openness of the facility allowed the kids to move about and not be bored even when we weren't at the beach. Helped having WiFi and cable to keep everyone connected and kids entertained.. Plenty of bathrooms and sleeping areas. We had a family reunion while there with almost 40 of us,all ages with no problem. The backyard was perfect entertaining and grilling on the provided gas grill. Outdoor shower made live much easier with the little ones coming back from beach. The porch with the view and breeze were great too. Kitchen is open so "Mom's" could fix meals for the little ones at same time without tripping over each other. All we needed in the kitchen except food was provided. We had no problem making the quick hop with the kids to go into Funland on the boardwalk. The kids loved the park (play ground), ice cream store and toy store in downtown Lewes. Farmer's market was great too.
This lovely, peaceful, spacious home welcomed us (an intergenerational family) to a quiet, quaint community just steps away from the beach of the Delaware Bay. The open floor plan of the kitchen, dining, and family rooms gave us plenty of room to gather together. The bedrooms provided us with oh-so-comfortable accommodations! The kids loved the bunk room! The adults loved the third floor deck in the evenings! Kristin graciously answered all our questions! We are looking forward to returning next summer!
We wanted a quick break at the beach and had heard from friends about Lewes. The weather was a liitle wintry--it was February!--but the house and the town were just perfect. The beach is just steps away, right across a narrow little one-way street. Our family, including two young kids, made full use of this beautifully decorated, super-clean house. The kids LOVED the bunk room--it was hard to tear them away. The common areas are bright and airy, with none of that overly beachy decor you often see in rentals. The kitchen is nice and well-equipped. And the views are great--you can see the ocean from several windows, including the one in the loft bedroom where we slept. (Call dibs on that room if you can!) Tons of room, really well-maintained. Can't wait to come back this summer to take full advantage of all the decks and the cute backyard. And the gorgeous beach! Thanks for having us.
Lewes Beach is a small gem of a summer playground. Usually calm waters and a fine sand beach makes this a family friendly beach that has enough excitement for wind surfers and the safety needed for toddlers and small children. Located in an historic town with many cultural treasures and fabulous restaurants. If you want non-stop partying and noisy crowds, don't come to Lewes Beach. If you want to unwind and enjoy nature and history, make Lewes your summertime destination.
