Sonoma County is rated one of the top 10 'wine' travel destinations in the world by Wine Enthusiast Magazine, February 2014. As expected, wineries abound in the area offering public tours and tastings; some wineries offer appointment only tours, tastings and food pairings with many wineries offering wines that only can be purchased at the winery. Frequently on a summer weekend evening music can drift quietly over the area from activities at either Chateau St Jean Winery or Landmark Winery which always ends by 10 PM.

The Kenwood Casita is within easy walking, cycling, or driving distances to numerous wineries, restaurants, City of Sonoma and Annandale, Sugarloaf and Mt. Hood parks.

Vacationer’s can take day trips by automobile to the very diverse areas of Sonoma County and surrounding Counties. Traveling east on Hwy 12 from Kenwood you will find numerous wineries, award winning restaurants and the City of Sonoma with shopping on their historic town square.

Heading north on Hwy 101 takes you to the City of Healdsburg, the Alexander and Russian River wine growing regions and wineries. Canoeing down the Russian River is a summer time favorite from Healdsburg to Guerneville. The Healdsburg Square also offers fine dining, eclectic shopping and wine tasting shops.

To the West you will find some of the best Pinot noir wineries in the U. S., also artisan cheese makers and gourmet olive oil producers offering their unique products. A return trip from the coast heading north on Highway 1 will find numerous waterfront restaurants serving locally harvested oysters, other seafood and of course libations

Your social interchange with the owners John and Pamela is as expansive or limited as you wish.

If you are looking for a place to relax, read in a quiet country setting; hike, bike, kayak, canoe or golf; take in fine dining, enjoy the finest wines offered in the Sonoma Valley or Sonoma County the Kenwood Casita and your hosts John and Pamela are there to make your stay as enjoyable as possible

About John & Pamela

We, Pamela and John, acquired this property in 2007 and have taken great pleasure in up-grading it. We decide to share our little-bit-of-heaven with vactioners. We invite you to consider being one of our guests. Over a glass of wine (or not) we are available to talk about the various activities available to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

John & Pamela purchased this cottage in 2007

What makes this cottage unique

In September we harvest our Montepulciano grapes and you can participate in the harvest but we have no control over Mother Nature in ripening the grapes, typically harvest is Mid-September. We host a harvest breakfast, then into the vineyard for picking, then off to the winery to de-stem, sort, crush, and watch the wine maker start the fermentation of the grapes. After crush the winery hosts a lunch.

We offer guest in-season fresh fruits, vegetable, citrus and herbs for your personal enjoyment from our gardens. In season we have: peaches, pears, apples, red and green seedless grape, artichokes, figs, lemons, limes. oranges, figs, persimmons, pomegranate, salad tomatoes, hot and sweet peppers, carrots, strawberries, garlic, celery, lettuce, onions, rosemary, thyme, chives, tarragon, sage, bay leaf, oregano, and more.

Absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the Casita for our honeymoon and could not be more pleased with our rental choice. John and Pamela were excellent, inviting hosts and made us feel very welcome. They truly made our experience in Sonoma Valley more special than we imagined.

We planned to cook a lot of our meals and the Casita kitchen was fully equipped with all of the cookware and utensils we needed. John even left fresh veggies from their garden on our patio each day and invited us to pick whatever we needed. The pool was open during our stay and was very refreshing to dip our toes after a long day out and about.

The location of the Casita was perfect for us! It is nestled in the country with breathtaking views, but yet just a quick ride down the road to the city of Sonoma, or up to Santa Rosa and the Russian River Valley area. We did a few days of wine tastings using Uber to travel around and never had any issues finding a timely and affordable ride. There are so many great wineries nearby that offer amazing tasting experiences and world class wines.

You can't go wrong with the Kenwood Casita and all that comes with it! Thanks John and Pam!

Beautiful, serene, great location!

  • 5 of 5

We came here for a surprise birthday trip and this little house/cottage was amazing. I am not big on staying at places like a B&B or something like that, but even though this place is right next to Jon and Pamela's house, I still felt like I had privacy and the ability to relax. It sits at the foot of the mountains and very quiet and peaceful. It is located near a few good wineries and only a short 30-45 minute drive to Napa. This was nice because the traffic in Napa is awful and staying here in Kenwood, we didn't have to deal with any traffic. There was a little covered carport which was nice. Even though we didn't use it, there is a heated pool which is very nice and well maintained. Just an amazing location and all around great experience!!! If you are in this area, this is a must stay!! Jon and Pamela and some of the nicest people you could ever meet. Very accommodating and helpful with anything we needed it questions we had. Thank you both for your hospitality!!! We will stay here every time we come out to the area!!

A serene retreat in the heart of Sonoma wine country

  • 5 of 5

The owners have a wonderful property which is fully equipped for any length of stay. The accommodation and surrounding gardens are truly a tonic for relaxation. John and Pamela are very welcoming and provided a wealth of information on activities and dining in the area. All in all a great experience for us and a destination that we plan on visiting again in the future.

Perfect set-up in a gorgeous setting

  • 5 of 5

We were in town for a wedding at a nearby vineyard and while our visit was short, the stay at the Casita was fantastic. John and Pamela couldn't have been more accommodating or gracious as hosts, and between checking in on us before our arrival, during our drive up to Kenwood and meeting us when we arrived, it was incredibly hospitable. They do a great job with the little things (fresh fruit on our doorstep! Prosecco in the fridge!) that make it easy to relax immediately. I wish we could have stayed longer, and we hope to return soon!
