Frequently on a summer weekend evening music can drift quietly over the area from activities at either Chateau St Jean Winery or Landmark Winery which always ends by 10 PM.

The Kenwood Casita is within easy walking, cycling, or driving distances to numerous wineries, restaurants and Annandale, Sugarloaf and Mt. Hood parks.

Vacationer’s can take day trips by automobile to the very diverse areas of Sonoma County and surrounding Counties. Traveling east on Hwy 12 from Kenwood you will find numerous wineries, award winning restaurants and the City of Sonoma with shopping on their historic town square.

Heading north on Hwy 101 takes you to the City of Healdsburg, the Alexander and Russian River wine growing regions and wineries. Canoeing down the Russian River is a summer time favorite from Healdsburg to Guerneville. The Healdsburg Square also offers fine dining, eclectic shopping and wine tasting shops.

To the West you will find wineries Pinot noir wineries in the U. S., artisan cheese makers and gourmet olive oil producers offering their unique products. A return trip from the coast heading north on Highway 1 will find numerous waterfront restaurants serving locally harvested oysters, other seafood and of course libations

Your social interchange with the owners John and Pamela is as expansive or limited as you wish.

If you are looking for a place to relax, read in a quiet country setting; hike, bike, canoe or golf; take in fine dining, enjoy the finest wines offered in the Sonoma Valley or Sonoma County the Kenwood Casita and your hosts John and Pamela are there to make your stay as enjoyable as possible

About John & Pamela

We, Pamela and John, acquired this property in 2007 and have taken great pleasure in up-grading it. We decide to share our little-bit-of-heaven with vactioners. We invite you to consider being one of our guests. Over a glass of wine (or not) we are available to talk about the various activities available to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

John & Pamela purchased this cottage in 2007

What makes this cottage unique

In September we harvest our Montepulciano grapes and you can participate in the harvest but we have no control over Mother Nature in ripening the grapes, typically harvest is Mid-September. We host a harvest breakfast, then into the vineyard for picking, then off to the winery to de-stem, sort, crush, and watch the wine maker start the fermentation of the grapes. After crush the winery hosts a lunch.

We offer guest in-season fresh fruits, vegetable, citrus and herbs for your personal enjoyment from our gardens. In season we have: peaches, pears, apples, red and green seedless grape, artichokes, figs, lemons, limes. oranges, figs, persimmons, pomegranate, salad tomatoes, hot and sweet peppers, carrots, strawberries, garlic, celery, lettuce, onions, rosemary, thyme, chives, tarragon, sage, bay leaf, oregano, and more.

Great place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

We had a awesome visit to Kenwood and loved staying in the Casita. John and Pamela were awesome and welcoming. We enjoyed breakfast on the porch watching the birds and squirrels. The fruit and vegetables from the gardens tasted amazing. The location was very close to perfect scenery, great walking trails and gardens, and the wineries. We would love to return for another visit to Sonoma County and stay again.

Lovely wine country retreat - comfortable, convenient, upscale country setting

  • 5 of 5

The Casita is essentially a full, small house, and very nicely appointed. Full kitchen, well stocked. Nice dining area with table for 4. Lovely small living/sitting room, with large windows overlooking the pool and very-well maintained gardens, hummingbirds, quail, squirrels and the Sonoma hills in the background. The bedroom is generous with windows overlooking an oak-tree shaded portion of the grounds where quail often scurry bye. The bathroom is nice with a jacquzzi tub and high skylight. John and Pamela have taken great care to make The Casita comfortable - everything you need to cook a nice dinner, a nice little gas BBQ, comfy towels, soaps & such, really good wifi. I love this location in Kenwood - out there enough to be rural and pleasant, a reasonable drive to everywhere. I had three nice morning runs, twice up to Sugarloaf Ridge park and once across the valley. (A bit up the hill and short trail run gets you to some pretty falls, and the round trip is just under 5 miles). And John and Pamela are so friendly while also providing space and privacy. If you want to get away from the hectic city, and especially if you want to cook / barbecue for yourself (there's a super nice market in Glen Ellen, just 10 minutes away) enjoying a pleasant evening and/or coffee in the morning, and enjoy lovely gardens and cute wildlife and John and Pamela's hospitality (including produce from their gardens) and probably a nice bottle of wine you picked up at a winery during the day - this is the place. Double if you like to run or hike or bike-ride, because of their proximity to the park and the upper Sonoma Valley.

Beautiful cottage, great hosts!

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I came for a weekend and did NOT want to leave! This cottage was nice, spacious, and the view was unbeatable! Upon arrival, we received a complimentary bottle of prosecco and a quick tour. The house had everything we needed, including coffee and plush robes! We enjoyed watching the hummingbirds, the quail family, and the fat squirrels! John and Pamela were absolutely wonderful hosts and gave us some great suggestions for close by wineries worth visiting. (I suggest VJB Cellars!). We are both grateful for our experience at Kenwood Casita and definitely plan to return!
