Sonoma County Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Kenwood Casita:1 Bedroom (Sleeps 2) 1 Bath in the Sonoma Valley

The “ Kenwood Casita” is in the town of Kenwood on California State Highway 12; 20 minutes east of the City of Santa Rosa and 15 minutes west of the City of Sonoma in the Sonoma Valley called by author Jack London the “Valley of the Moon”.

It is a detached 640 sq. ft. guest unit with 1 bedroom (sleeps -2), 1 bath, full kitchen, HVAC, seasonally heated pool, outdoor patio with BBQ and covered parking. RV or boat parking is available but no hook-ups are available.

A quiet, rural and private 2.50 acre parcel in the Sonoma Valley with views of the surrounding Mayacamas Mountains. The property has a small vineyard planted to Montepulciano grapes, over 50 fruit trees and a large herb and vegetable garden. Seasonal fruits, vegetables and herbs are available upon request during your stay. The property has a solar heated seasonal pool and poolside lounge chairs available for your use.

Sonoma County is rated one of the top 10 'vinous' travel destinations in the world by Wine Enthusiast Magazine, February 2014. As expected, wineries abound in the area offering public tours and tastings; some wineries offer appointment only tours and tastings and many wineries offer wines that only can be purchased at the winery. Frequently on a summer weekend evening music can drift quietly over the area from activities at either Chateau St Jean Winery or Landmark Winery which always ends by 10 PM.

The Kenwood Casita is within easy walking, cycling, or driving distances to numerous wineries, restaurants and Annandale, Sugarloaf and Mt. Hood parks.

Vacationer’s can take day trips by automobile to the very diverse areas of Sonoma County and surrounding Counties. Traveling east on Hwy 12 from Kenwood you will find numerous wineries, award winning restaurants and the City of Sonoma with shopping on their historic town square.

Heading north on Hwy 101 takes you to the City of Healdsburg, the Alexander and Russian River wine growing regions and wineries. Canoeing down the Russian River is a summer time favorite from Healdsburg to Guerneville. The Healdsburg Square also offers fine dining, eclectic shopping and wine tasting shops.

To the west and southwest of Petaluma you will find wineries, artisan cheese makers and gourmet olive oil producers offering their unique products. A return trip from the coast heading north on Highway 1 will find numerous waterfront restaurants serving local grown oysters, other seafood and of course libations

Your social interchange with the owners John and Pamela is as expansive or limited as you wish.

If you are looking for a place to relax, read in a quiet country setting; hike, bike, canoe or golf; take in fine dining, sip the finest wines offered in the Sonoma Valley or Sonoma County the Kenwood Casita and your hosts John and Pamela are there to make your stay as enjoyable as possible

Just delightful. Place is spacious and spotless. Birds galore, lovely fruit and vegetable garden. Full kitchen you could easily live in for extended stay. Easy access to so much. And the pool!

Seriously, not a single reservation about recommending.

All you need for a long weekend in CA!

  • 5 of 5

My husband & I made the trip out to Kenwood CA from NJ for a family wedding at the nearby winery, Kunde Estate. This was our first trip to CA and we couldn't have been happier with our stay at the Casita. John and Pamela were very informative by taking in our interests/likes and giving us suggestions of points of interests within the area. The wineries in the area were wonderful; the restaurants were fantastic! A few wineries were even walking distance from the house. The Casita was clean and accurately portrayed from the pictures on HomeAway. If we are ever back in CA, we would definitely go back to the Kenwood Casita!!

Great Getaway Choice

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed at a couple of VRBO properties in our travels and all have been a good experience. The Casita in Kenwood was by far the best experience to date. We stayed for 3 nights in early October. The weather was spectacular. The house (casita) is separate from the main house and shares the property, which is spacious and extremely well kept. The house, gardens and their grapevines (yes, John grows his own grapes in the front of the property) reflect true dedication and craft. In addition to a gardener's dream of a vegetable garden, they grow fruit trees, lemon and lime trees, fig and walnuts and so much more.

We, as guests, were able to share in their bounty at our leisure (fresh picked strawberries!). My husband swam in the pool and grilled salmon 1 night on the outdoor grill. This was heavenly. The photos on the VRBO site don't do it the justice it deserves. The house is bright, cheery, roomy like a really large apartment (we're from NYC), pretty, homey and modern. It was complete with a full kitchen, dining, living room and an outdoor patio. We watched TV at night, had breakfast at the dining room table before setting out to explore wine country. We love the "home base" as this was a fantastic place to call "home" for a few days. John and Pamela are wonderful gracious hosts. Thank you for a great time away.

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

We found the location convenient to the center of the Sonoma Wineries and great hiking areas. The owner met us as we drove up and took us on a tour of the home and property. The gardens were both vegetable and decorative with the owner offering us to pick what vegetables we would like. The views of the mountains from the pool and through the dining and living windows were spectacular. The home, Casita, was attractive and well furnished with a complimentary local Champagne waiting for us in the fridge. We enjoyed one evening, sitting with the owners on their deck overlooking the pool with a glass of wine and home-made appetizers watching the Harvest Moon rise over the mountains and turning into a solar eclipse. We have stayed at many places in the Sonoma Wine country before and we think this was the best. We, definitely, will return.

A little piece of paradise

  • 5 of 5

This house was everything I could hope for and more. There were mountains, vineyards and a garden with fresh herbs and vegetables. Hummingbirds flew by all day in front of the view that was breathtaking. I could not have asked for more. As for amenities, the house was fully stocked with a television, dishwasher, towels and robes.

Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were there for 5 nights and the Casita surpassed all of our expectations. The location was great - we walked to several wineries - and we really liked the small town feel of the area. It was very quiet and the views of the mountains were amazing. The property itself was very nice and well-maintained, and included gardens, large trees, and a vineyard. The was roomy, comfortable, clean and had all of the modern conveniences. John and Pamela were great hosts - they gave us advice on wineries and restaurants, and they also allowed us to pick things from the garden and from the fruit trees (John even brought us some vegetables one morning that he had just picked). It was a great way to end our California vacation -we would definitely stay here again!
