Two-story Villa, 3 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths. Sleeps 6
Casa Solipaz, the premier property in the gated community of Armonia Eco-Village, offers constant breezes, mesmerizing ocean and mountain views, and a cooling, salt water infinity pool.
Situated at the highest point of this 25-acre, lush community, the home offers numerous fans as well as energy-efficient air-conditioning in each room.
Wake up to stunning ocean views from any of the three bedrooms.
The large upstairs master bedroom features a shower that looks out onto the sea. Practice yoga on the spacious, private patio located just outside the bedroom’s large sliding glass doors. Or just relax into the cushions of our outdoor furniture.
The downstairs en suite bedrooms have charms of their own. The poolside bedroom offers its own patio, perfect for reading or just soaking in the view while sitting in comfy, teak Adirondack chairs. The second downstairs bedroom has an “outdoor” shower with eye-level screened windows on three sides and stained-glass window insets throughout (no worries - only the monkeys and parrots can see in!).
The kitchen highlights include island cabinets made from guanacaste, the national tree of Costa Rica. The tree had fallen naturally in the jungle; a permit was required to remove it and use the wood. The doors throughout the home are constructed from farmed laurel, continuing the home’s Eco-friendly theme. The entire house and pool are solar-powered in keeping with Costa Rica’s national goal of carbon neutrality.
The fully functional kitchen offers a wide variety of cooking utensils, pots, pans, fridge, blender, coffee maker, teapot, griddle, toaster, dishwasher and microwave oven. Cook inside or make a pizza in our wood-fired pizza oven located on the patio in the back of the house (complete instructions from an experienced local pizza maker included!).
The rancho, located down the hill in front of the house, has a mini-fridge for storing cool drinks and is another great spot to hang out or sunbathe on the home’s many chaise lounges.
Bio-diverse gardens enhance the front of the house, filled with a variety of floral and palm species. At night, the gardens are illuminated by energy-efficient lighting which casts warm shadows over the landscape.
Bring your binoculars with you if you decide to hike down the trails behind the house to the river that runs through Armonia Eco-Village.
Iguanas, white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, armadillos, pizotes, sloths, deer, foxes, puma, and a huge variety of birds - including toucan, parrots, hummingbirds, motmots, tanagers, and pelicans - live in the community and regularly visit our property.
A wonderful groundskeeper, and Gini, our terrific property manager who speaks english, french and spanish, will ensure that your stay here is memorable. She can help you arrange various excursions, including surfing, fishing, boating, kayaking, snorkeling, cycling, horseback riding, birdwatching, hiking, zip-lining and golfing.
Also ask about the many fine restaurants in the area. La Playa de los Artistas is our personal favorite; sitting right on the beach, you might be lucky enough to see dolphins dancing as you enjoy world-class cuisine.

About Kathy Swanwick
We first visited Costa Rica in 2008 and were immediately enchanted by the lovely people, slower lifestyle, incredible climate and wonderful food. From the start, we felt comfortable here. So after a few more visits, we decided to look for a piece of land on which to build Casa Solipaz (House of Sun and Peace). Standing atop our hill in Armonia Eco-Village, we were awed by the incredible ocean and jungle views as well as the constant, cooling breezes. We were also impressed with Armonia's focus on protecting the environment; the small community has been carefully constructed with the least possible intrusion on the jungle and its many denizens. We knew this would be the site of our second home, one we would like to share with others when we cannot be in residence. Please enjoy the home's tranquility, as well as the area's many fun, exciting attractions!
Kathy Swanwick purchased this House in 2012
Why Kathy Swanwick chose Montezuma
Casa Solipaz, with its calming, panoramic ocean and jungle views, simply emanates peace. Gentle breezes, a refreshing horizon pool and the sounds of howler monkeys calling in nearby trees await your arrival! The brand new luxury home's ample outdoor seating areas assure relaxing days. Indoors, enjoy a home-cooked meal in the dining area, sit on the comfortable couch and watch a bit of TV on the 42-inch screen, or use the WiFi to catch up on your e-mail. Hang around the house and property or head out to the hip beach town of Montezuma, just five minutes away by car. You'll find great restaurants and outdoor activities such as zip-lining, waterfall climbs and boating trips.
What makes this House unique
Casa Solipaz was designed with the environment and the mesmerizing ocean view in mind. The house and pool are powered by the sun, and we have many eco-friendly fans. There are also energy-efficient air-conditioners in each room - but you will probably not need them on most days. Open doors and the sea breeze will provide Nature's own air-conditioning! The secluded area ensures quiet and privacy. Please use the outdoor pizza oven; precise instructions are included.

Very tranquil and beautiful spot. Amazing villa too!
We recently spent three nights at this great villa and our party consisted of two, adult couples. Gini looks after the house and the check in was seamless and she was an absolute delight to deal with. The villa is very well built, spacious and the views are spectacular. The pool was a welcome sight after spending time out exploring Montezuma and the surrounding area. I highly recommend this villa if you are looking for tranquility and want to unwind.
You touched on some of Casa Solipaz's best features: the beauty of the house itself, views, the cooling pool, our proximity to Montezuma and all it has to offer, as well as the peace afforded by our private location.
Thank you for appreciating Gini - she is the best at making our guests feel welcome!
And thanks for staying with us; hope to see you again.
Gorgeous home in a secluded area of Costa Rica
This home is a true gem. Amazing infinity pool and outdoor brick oven only compliment this gorgeous property. Wake up to the sounds of the wildlife in the jungle and a sunrise over the pacific. Close to Montezuma, a quaint village with eclectic charm.
Many thanks for the lovely review.
So pleased that you appreciated the pool, view, wildlife, pizza oven and Montezuma in general.
I was happy to receive your note that your visit to Casa Solipaz created memories to last a lifetime; what a privilege it is for us to able to share a bit of Paradise with our guests!
Gini said you were wonderful guests and we do hope to see you again!
Terrific stay. Great house with a spectacular view. Montezuma restaurants were amazing
We appreciate the kind review; so happy you enjoyed your stay at Casa Solipaz! It's hard to find better views than those at the house. And we agree that the food at restaurants in and around Montezuma is incredible. Hope to have you as our guests again!
Fantastic for families with kids! Beautiful view, well equipped, private, wildlife closeby
Our family with kids 7, 10 and 12 had a great time. Our kids loved the pool, our youngest learned to swim well during our stay. Ocean views, tropical vegetation, the stars from the upper deck... Hearing the howler monkeys morning and evening, watching parrots and other birds, coatis, agoutis, iguanas from the deck, howler and Capuchin monkeys on the property. The only complaint I have is that the reading lamps were too dim... Very happy with our stay.
Thank you, Heike,
We were very happy to have you as our guests! Glad you enjoyed all Casa Solipaz has to offer, including the abundant wildlife, lush gardens and the refreshing infinity pool.
Hope to see you back again one day,
Wonderful experience above the jungle
My family of 5 stayed at Kathy's Montezuma house for 9 days and had an amazing time. The house is located very conveniently close to Montezuma, but is quite private and secluded.
This is a great place to bring people who want the amazing adventure of the Southern Necoya Peninsula but still like creature comforts. Potable water, good electricity, reliable TV and internet, AC... these all go a long ways at the end of hot day spent on the beach or trails.
The house has a 1/3 mile driveway entrance and is gated. Feels very secure. You can walk the driveway in the morning early and potentially see good wildlife. The rooms are all private and spacious, perfect place for a big family or 3 couples. Every room has an incredible view of the jungle and ocean. There is a wonderful seating area upstairs off the master where we liked to watch the sunset and have drinks. Also perfect for a little yoga (the house has several mats). Kitchen is well equipped. Head to the Mega Super in Cabano about 10min away for the best deals and decent meat/produce. Try to speak to a local about getting fresh fish if possible too!
Ginny, the property manager was very gracious with us and had a lot of good advice. We will definitely try to return!
I so appreciate your wonderful review of Casa Solipaz, and I am happy you enjoyed the privacy as well as the amenities the house offers. I hope you got to use the pizza oven.
The road up to the house is, indeed, filled with all types of wildlife that may pop out at any moment. They, too, feel the seclusion! And we all appreciate the security provided by our gates.
We hope to see you again one day. And thank you for your kind words about the lovely Gini!
Hated to leave
Besides the fresh and sophisticated layout of the house itself, it is a dreamy haven, full of light and the sounds of nature. We could have hung out all day there as the kitchen is very well equipped and there are so many different places to sit and relax, but there was so much else to do in the area. Yes, the approach to the house is complicated at first glance, but that is in your favor: you are alone at the end of a long day in the sun.
I could only think of the next time we come here and the people to whom I will recommend it.
And my son writes:
"Our time at the house was made even more special with the help of Gini. She was the definition of an accommodating host and even went so far as to arrange flowers to be made in celebration of a proposal. Amazing. Using WhatsApp was the best way to communicate while abroad and Gini was very responsive when we had any questions, texting or even sending step by step directions to the house with video message. At the house there were lots of maps, local listings, and brochures that also answered any question we might have about the house, town, and surrounding area. At this point it goes without saying that we loved the house and the experience."
Thank you, Jennifer!
That was a lovely review. Both you and your son's reviews highlight some of Casa Solipaz's best attributes: the house's location, with its inherent peace and wildlife, and Gini, our fabulous property manager!
I am so happy the proposal went well (I'm assuming she said yes!) and am very glad that Gini was of so much help. She really is a gem.
We hope to see you all again one day.
Again, many thanks,
You will find all the information on the area and more in the Zoom Magazine.
