About Charles Schech

Local self employed married couple. Owner is in the HVAC service business, builder and rental of residential and commercial property.

Charles Schech purchased this house in 1923

Why Charles Schech chose Mid City

This property was purchased in 1923 by the owner's great grandfather because he loved the close proximity to down town and all of the conveniences of the area and right on the Street Car line, and for those same reasons is why I love the old 100+ year old home. That's why I had to completely renovate it and make it more cozy for me and you to stay in the beautiful city of New Orleans. This is my second home when I'm in town.

What makes this house unique

Easy acess to the French Quarter, Casino, grocery stores and restaurants and did I mention the Street Car line.

Great placement to all the amenities for our stay in New Orleans!

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of eight people and all were more than satisfied with the arrangements! The home was in an ideal location for us with the Cable Car line less than a block away. From here, travel was very easy for us. Also, several stores were within walking distance...two to three blocks. Though we had a car in reserve, we only needed it to reach a particular restaurant that we wanted to have dinner at on one particular night. Also, drove to the air-boat location for the fun ride in the swamp area. The house was extra nice and all the guests were very pleased with the location. Mr. Schech was very congenial and wanted us to call him with any problems, concerns, or distractions. Thank you to Mr. Schech for an amazing visit to the New Orleans area and all the fanfare! Our trip was capped off with a ride on the Natchez Steamboat in the Mississippi River and a Swamp ride on an air-boat to view the wildlife as well as the flora and fauna and ....particularly alligators, and we were not disappointed! Overall, a five star accommodation! We would recommend this rental to any and everyone!

Highlight of a perfect NOLA weekend!

  • 5 of 5

Where to start?! House is more spacious than it seems in pictures. It has been furnished with design and comfort in mind. The kitchen has all you need to prepare complete meals. And the location was PERFECT for access to restaurants and street car. Theres absolutely NO comparison between hotel rooms and staying here; lounging in living room after fun time in city, relaxing in dining room after breakfast (loved the spacious dining room-MY FAVORITE part of house!). We used the close-by streetcar for all our getting around. Unless we were walking to nearby Brocato's or Katie's. Rave reviews from all four couples who stayed!!!

Awesome stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 10 people who went to New Orleans for VooDoo Fest. The description of the house is totally accurate - it's a beautiful, clean home with lots of space. The house is in a great, safe location near lots of restaurants and stores plus it is right down the street from the street car line. We went to The Canal Street Bistro down the street from the house a few times for breakfast and would definitely recommend it! Charles was very accommodating and helpful! I would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in New Orleans.

Better than advertised!!!

  • 5 of 5

Where do I start...this house was absolutely beautiful! It still had the charm and elegance of the original home, with all the modern amenities of a home built this year. The owner has obviously put a lot of time and effort into this house. There are flat screen TVs everywhere, updated bathrooms, and a full gourmet kitchen with state of the art appliances. We had 7 adults staying here and it was more than enough room.

The owner, Charles, while he was extremely disappointed that he was out of town on business during our arrival, still walked us through the features of the home by phone to ensure we had everything we needed for our stay. Charles also made it a point to stop by to meet us as soon as he got back in town.

As for the was perfect! Right off of Canal St. just mere steps from the Trolley line which was great since we were in town for Mardi Gras. This location is also directly on the Endymion parade route which is one of the biggest parades during carnival. There were also many restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance.

Thank you Charles for a wonderful stay. We would definitely recommend this home to anyone wishing to stay in New Orleans.

New Orleans house

Great place to stay. Plenty of room and very nice. Comfortable beds and private parking. Walking distance to several restaurants and about 150' to the streetcar stop.

Owner met us when we arrived and gave us the keys and showed us around. He was very helpful.

We will stay here again next time.

Car: not necessary

This house is located just steps from Canal St. and the Street Car line. You don't even need a car to get around, just hop on the Street Car and travel around the whole city. Go to the Audubon Zoo, Audubon Park and many fine eateries and shopping along the way. See several Mardi Gras Parades along Canal St. and just sit on the front porch and watch or walk over to the edge of Canal St. to catch a pile of Beads and have your own bth. rm. and Kitchen right near by. All of New Orleans Festivals, Parties, and activities can be reached by the Street Car witch runs just steps from your front door on Canal St. Also joining my property right next door is the Canal St. Bistro, a great place to dine. We are proud to be located just across the street from the beautiful historical property and gorgeous manicured grounds of the Schoen's funeral home fronting on Canal St. This is one of the safest areas in the N. O. area.
