Precious cabin that was very clean & comfortable. Close to Anchorage but far enough out to feel like your in the country! Lovely landscaping & decking around the property. Loved having coffee in the morning outside & watching eagles fly overhead. One morning there was a moose outside the bedroom window! Owner was a sweetheart & helped us with anything we needed. Made us feel right at home. Hope to go back soon!
Was above and beyond my high expectations! What a gorgeous place..owner and neighbor were the nicest bunch of folk you could ever meet. Soooo glad we didn't stay in a hotel..the cabin, kitchen, sauna, scenery, etc..fabulous! I can't even begin to tell you what an awesome place this was! The owner was adorable, the neighbor fantastic..he even gave us a beautiful, fresh caught salmon to grill..we cruised downtown Anchorage and saw the Hilton which we had originally planned on staying..I am so glad we didn't. Stacie's place was so much better..it was wonderful..I highly recommend..we will definitely be back..LOVE IT!
The owner is very gracious and accommodating. It is located in a quiet neighborhood that is still easy to access in winter. For being a historic cabin it was very warm and comfortable. I would stay there again.
We arrived at night and the neighborhood had very few street lights (appropriately) so it wasn't until the next day that we realized how nice that area of Anchorage and the house really were. The house was an interesting mix of rustic and refined. It had the look and feel of a log cabin in the woods but included a gourmet kitchen and dry-heat sauna. The bathroom on the main floor had an antique (or maybe it was just "retro") toilet that required a little "finesse" to work properly, but we never had any problems with it. The basement appears to be in the early phase of a renovation but there was a small but functional second "full" bathroom down in the basement. The neighborhood is quiet and convenient to popular hiking trails and mountains. We ran across moose browsing on the side of the road when we were out on a walk through the neighborhood. The location was perfect for us. We were able to make several day trips to popular sights and things to do in and away from Anchorage with the comforting thought that we would be returning to our "Alaska retreat" at the end of the day. The only thing that we missed was someplace within walking distance where one could obtain food in a pinch- there was no grocery store, deli, bakery or coffee shop in the area. Small price to pay for peace and quiet.
My husband and I wanted the convenience of staying in Anchorage along with the feel of wilderness Alaska. Stacey's Alaska Retreat gave us exactly that. The log home was beautiful, clean and comfortable with an outstanding kitchen as well as laundry facilities. Even a sauna! This was a perfect home base for the day trips we had planned as well as a great place to relax and enjoy our meals, saving us from having to eat out. I especially liked the bench by the brook and the wooded property. Stacey was a perfect hostess, always there if we needed her and yet considerate of our privacy. I would recommend this place to anyone. The home has the feeling of being out in the country (we saw moose!) and yet it was close and convenient to all the services we needed.
