It's a love story of course.......
After being born and raised in southern California i never thought anything could take me away from the sun and the fun. But, after 20 years of being in the private business sector of Los Angeles, i was ready for a change. When i met Kimberley i knew - it was love at first sight. I picked up and moved to the thumb of Michigan. We decided to open up a B & B but found we couldn't serve the bigger groups of people. So, we turned a couple older beach houses in to what is now known as the Bellarue Cottages (named after our daughters Bella and Elli-Rue ) we hope these love inspired houses becomes your favorite place to stay in Lexington!
Josh or Kim purchased this estate in 2009

This is a beautiful home with plenty of rooms and bathrooms. It was perfect for our family reunion with a bunch of kids. Literally everything we needed was in the house, from a soccer ball, to board games, to salad bowls, to grilling tongs. The home was clean and everything was updated and well cared for. Communication with owners was great.
We had 5 in our party. The house was very comfortable and it has a great deck to enjoy the view. The stairs down to the lake are steep but manageable. Very private and a great time was had by all. The marina in Port Sanilac has a great restaurant and the diner serves a fantastic breakfast.
We planned our 2013 faimly reunuion in Lexington. We own a home in the village that could comfortably sleep ten were looking for a place that would accomodate another 15 people. The Mansion fit us very well. First the positives. The house is attractively furnished. There are a lot of bedrooms and bathrooms, a large well-equipped kitchen that includes a washer and dryer, a big lving room with a large-screen TV and DVD player, window air conditioners that kept the first floor comfortable, an arcade room with several good pinball machines (all but two worked great) and an exercise room. The house and grounds were clean and well maintained. The Mansion is only one mile from the village so it was only a short walk or bike ride to the stores, restaurants, etc.
There were a few problems, the most important being a large family of bees that liked the living room. The owner had tried to eliminate them by spraying outside but they were there in abundance. We were lucky that only one of us was stung. We sprayed the living room with an Ortho product and that reduced the numbers but they were never completely gone. The owner was responsive and says that he plans to get a professional to take care of this problem. Some less significant items - not all the windows have screens, the house does not have internet contrary to the listing info, the treadmill stops periodically, the refrigerator light and the control panel don't work (although the refrigerator cools okay), the prior renters leftovers were in the freezer, and none of the bedrooms have air conditioners. That was a problem the first night when it was hot and humid. The ceiling fans helped but it still was uncomfortable.
The best measure of the place is whether or not we would come again and the answer is yes
