About Vera Topinka

I came to the desert just to see the wildflowers, stumbled across a property for sale with gorgeous views,

and fell in love with Joshua Tree. I'm still in love, with my views, and with the wonderful critters, the

starry night skies, the bike rides and hikes in the Park, the incredible sunsets and moonrise,

the Mojave Desert Land Trust, the smell when it rains, and with this whole amazing community here.

And all the wonderful desert detritus lying around has influenced my photography in a fun,

eclectic, and recyclable way…

I look forward to meeting you when you visit (if I can) and sharing my love of Joshua Tree.

Beautiful View - Great Location

  • 4 of 5

Loved the view and home setting. Lots of outdoor seating and comfortable layout for two couples. Hot tub a great spot after a long hiking day! The property and Joshua Tree NP were full of wildflowers and blooms on everything. It was amazing - our timing was perfect! One area needing real improvement, our bed (one of three) was very uncomfortable ... basically looked and felt like a styrofoam pad on top of a box springs. We didn't sleep much for our three nights and had sore backs/necks, which is not acceptable. Everything else was as pictured and described.

Perfect location close to the park

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for a week and enjoyed our stay. The house is perched on a hill, from which you can see the west entrance to the park. We went into the park every day. This is the side of the highway to be on, with spectacular views and outdoor spaces to enjoy them. We loved the windows and doors in the living room, which give you a view to the North and East at the same time. The house is comfortable and has some supplies in the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry room that most vacation rentals are missing (salt, pepper, olive oil, tea, coffee, soap, lotion, shampoo, etc.). The concrete and tile floors are a plus. The kitchen equipment is pretty basic. We brought our own kitchen knives, thankfully, since we like to cook. I understand that the kitchen will be undergoing a remodel in the summer of 2017, which will add a lot of value to the property. We brought our dogs and appreciate that this is a dog friendly property. We used the hot tub at sunset and to watch the stars... what a great view from the hot tub, too. It is definitely worth it to arrive before dark so you can see what a fantastic spot you are in and find your way easily to the top of the hill. We would certainly stay here again.

Great location and beautiful view.

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and grandson and I really enjoyed our stay at the zen house.

Vera is very helpful and her directions to the house are excellent. The view from the house is beautiful and the house is very clean. The distance to the park entrance is very near which is great. Vera left us some delicious muffins and coffee which was very appreciated. All in all we had a really great long weekend.

Rain and zen

  • 5 of 5

Zen house was great for a long weekend retreat with son and grandson. Everything necessary was right at hand and Vera repeatedly offered help - even willing to get up at midnight to guide my son around a washed out road (Happily, we spared Vera that saga as google maps very accurately depicts the Joshua Tree's maze of roads). Excellent views from three different patios... we tried all 3 after the sun returned. It was lovely.
