My good friends from high school in New York and I decided to celebrate our 60th year by spending a week in Paris together. One lives in Amsterdam, another in Rome and two of us from Los Angeles. I searched all over and found a lovely apartment in the 6th just off Blvd. St. Germain -- on the Rue L'Eperon. Smack in the middle of things, it was quiet, clean, light, airy with a washing machine, a lovely bathroom with a nice towel heater and not a speck of dust. The sheets were all cotton and soft, nice big continental pillows and very good English speaking managers! It was easy to make the plans and a pleasure to stay there.
The location of the 6th Arrondissement was perfect. There are cafes and restaurants galore. It's the perfect location to get around Paris if you choose to walk or take the train. The apartment building is on a side street. The exterior architecture of the building is nice and unique. The windows are large and allows for great light in the apartment. Right across the street there is a high school. When students are on break/lunch they are outside. On many occasions we had students right outside our front door sitting on the step smoking. We had to pardon ourselves to get through the door. The building is secure. It has a small elevator that did not always work. We found ourselves taking the stairs a lot. The lighting in the common areas was dim, and sometimes even dark. We had to us the flashlight app on our mobile phones. Philippe and Sophie were very easy to communicate with when setting up the arrangements. They provided a recommendation for a driver, which we used on several occasions, and it worked out great. Philippe met us at the apartment upon our arrival. He was quick about it. He showed us the bedroom, living room and bathroom. He showed us the appliances in the kitchen, but could not provide any user guides for the wash machine/dryer (the dryer does not dry). It was odd to me why he seemed rushed until after he left and I opened the door to the water closet. It was so cramped that you could not sit on the toilet without turning sideways. The shower was open; no shower curtain, thereby allowing water to spill out onto the floor. We had to put towels on the floor that were soaked after a shower. If you are an elderly person, this shower would be too difficult to get in and out of. You must take a big step to get in. The overall size of the apartment was good. Would I stay there again, probably not, but we did not spend a lot of time in the apartment.
Loved the place! It's actually prettier in person than in the pictures. I went with my husband and 14 month old baby and it was perfect. The size, the layout and the furniture was safe not only for the baby, but for the baby to ruin it too. I had washer/dryer/dishwasher. The location was perfect! The apartment was on a side street so you couldn't hear the bustling street at the end of the street. All the cafe's, brasseries, creperies, bars, supermarket were very close. We walked every day everywhere, it was very centrally located. Sofie and Phillipe were wonderful and Sofie met us there on the day of arrival and told us everything we needed to know. LOVED IT!
