Newholme is a large self-catering holiday house in Stirling, Scotland, just a minute’s walk from the charming village of Cambusbarron and five minutes drive from the centre of town. We are a family friendly property and at over 5000 square feet, Newholme House has room for everyone. The main house accommodates 12 people (prices quoted on this web site are for the main house only) Clients have the option to book the attached flat to accommodate an extra four person in two bedrooms, with separate bathroom and living room.Enjoy movies on the flat screen television in the sitting room or hide away with a book in front of the open fire in the spacious drawing room. Our dining room can seat up to 12 people and the kitchen is well stocked and set up for entertaining. When weather permits, enjoy roaming around the expansive garden and barbecuing in the evening.

The fully fitted kitchen is perfectly suited for entertaining large parties and we've had lots of great celebrations at Newholme. A popular option is to use one of our two local Cordon Bleu trained cooks who regularly provide either special occasion or weekly catering options.

We also organise and run heritage tours and golf tours from Newholme, as fully catered or self catered packages.

Off street, secluded parking for 5-6 cars.

Wifi is available as super fast broadband and is free.

Dogs are welcome with prior arrangement.

During the summer months, if all has gone well with the planting, you can pick your own herbs and vegetables.

Newholme House is a perfect base for exploring Scotland. We are just 45 minutes away from both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Unfortunately, we do not accommodate stag or hen parties.

About NIkki and David Callander

The Callanders have been managing Newholme for 14 years. David was born and raised in the Stirling area so he's very knowledgeable about Scotland. David also runs a golf and heritage tour company. Nikki is originally from San Francisco and met David while she was on holiday in Scotland and staying at Newholme! Needless to say, it was a good match - we've been married since 2009 - and we now manage Newholme House together.

Nikki is a qualified sports and remedial massage therapist, and outside clinic hours, held in Bridge of Allan, she can accommodate Newholme guests in her home studio which is next door to Newholme.

Why NIkki and David Callander chose Scotland

David has always lived in the Stirling area and originally came to Newholme 25 years ago to manage the gardens for Mrs. B and then stayed on to manage the property once the house was passed down to her daughter who lives in Canada. Having come from a large family home, David meticulously maintains the Edwardian property which was built in 1938. David and Nikki work together to maintain the beautiful garden and try to ensure that Newholme guests are well looked after.

The recent refurbishment of the flat now allows clients to increase their numbers from 12 to 16 using the attached, but separate flat.

The Flat will not be let independently.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

The pictures don't quite show how big the property is...you can sleep 12 comfortably and accommodate 12 comfortably in our large drawing room, sitting room (with flatscreen TV), dining room (seats 12), and fully fitted kitchen. In the colder months, it's nice to sidle up to one of the open fires and in the summer months, what a treat it is to sit outside with a drink and have a BBQ in the garden. The spacious house has been host to many a special occasion and is perfect for family gatherings and special events.

With the addition of the flat, joined by a connecting door upstairs and downstairs, your party can now bring four more guests. With two kingsize beds and its own living room and bathroom, the flat will only be let to guests who have booked the main house. Price on application.

A Fabulous Place to Stay

We returned home last week from our incredible stay at Newholme. Stirling is a perfect location from which to travel throughout Scotland. Everyday we would leave on day trips to see castles, old Abbeys, Stirling, Glasgow, and Edinburgh. North, South, East, and west, and every evening we returned to this wonderful old home. We loved it! It was beautiful and old, full of charm, and very comfortable. Lovely bedrooms with plenty of beds for our large family. Lots of windows looking into the beautiful gardens. Even on cloudy and rainy days, it felt sunny and warm. When we think of our trip, this home will be the highlight. David was so kind and helpful. We really appreciate his concern for our comfort and well being. I highly recommend this home for your vacation in Scotland!

Wonderful Home in Stirling

Our recent trip to Stirling was wonderful, in large part because of our stay at Newholme House. The house was exactly as advertised - large, clean, warm and full of character. The photos don't show how well stocked the kitchen is, or the lovely garden, or proximity to Stirling and local sights, restaurants and activities. Perhaps the biggest bonus was the property manager, David, who was unobtrusive but provided helpful suggestions for restaurants, directions, and day trips. David can also guide and drive for those who are interested, so he had a wealth of maps, information and suggestions and kindly shared them. We drove ourselves but relied fully on David's' direction and were not disappointed in any respect. Because of David, we visited secluded places, quiet restaurants and exhibits not on the beaten path, and got to see the "real Scotland." This was a truly special visit, made more so by Newholme House and David. Highly recommend.

Newholme House is set on 3/4 of an acre and is located in beautiful Historic Stirling which is based in the heart of Scotland. Stirling itself has it's fair share of attractions...brilliant Stirling Castle, Wallace Monument, Stirling Bridge, Church of the Holy Rude, Bannockburn Heritage Centre but it's perfectly (and centrally) located so guests can visit so many other places in Scotland with ease. The train station is a 5 minute drive from the house and can take you into Edinburgh and Glasgow quite easily. The Trossachs are a short and lovely drive. Newholme House is perfectly located for exploring Scotland.
