Description

Highland Woods Chalet Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 8)

The cabin was remodeled from its 1976 origins in 2012 so gone is that beloved 70's paneling and the extra walls so the whole kitchen - dining - living area flow together; with the original open beam ceiling it has a comfy spacious feel to it. This living area has the deck off of it and it has wonderful southern exposure so there it is light and bright all day long. The view of the Carson Range near Heavenly and the grassy green lawn make this a nice little peaceful refuge.

The space of the house is nicely laid out and it utilizes it well. First floor has full size bedroom with roomy closet and queen bed, full bath and laundry room you can use. Second floor has a 'cozy' bedroom with a pretty ponderosa pine outside its window (queen bed), plus the large bedroom with the same view of the mountains as from the deck. This bedroom has a queen bed and two single futons. The second floor has the vaulted chalet ceiling, and there is another bath with shower.

Kitchen has all new appliances that includes a gas stove (instead of electric!) and, mercifully, a dishwasher. With the granite counter tops and island, plus all the cooking gear and plates you'll need you can get to work cooking up a storm in there should you desire.

There are a couple of bar stools at the island, and the dining table has a leaf so you can expand it to seat 8.

Living room has new efficient wood stove, 46 inch LCD HDTV and DVD player, and some comfortable seating - better than we have at home!

All the bedrooms have clothes closets and new high quality, non-toxic mattresses made in the US. The big bedroom has a small (32 x 48') Foosball/multi game table and a 37 inch LCD HDTV.

There are a bunch of chairs, an umbrella, and BBQ for the spacious deck which is on a cool green lawn.

Great central location in a beautiful quiet neighborhood. No ugly power lines! Just up the street you can walk or ski into the Upper Truckee Marsh Conservancy area and make your way to the lake or the Tahoe Keys.

The check in time is 4:00 pm, check out 11:00 am..

Located 2 miles from the 'Y' (US 50 and 89 - many stores and Raleys supermarket) and 4 miles from Stateline (Casinos).

The South Lake Tahoe Bike Path passes through here a few blocks away. Its about a 10 minute bike ride to go 2 miles up to Regan Beach.

The great City of South Lake Tahoe Recreation complex is a few miles away and has a swimming pool, basketball courts and weight room.

The Bijou Community Park is near the recreation center located on Al Tahoe Blvd, and it has a Free Frisbee Golf Course, skateboard park, and many other features.

Nearby also is the year round South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. Its 4 miles to Heavenly Ski Area. 5 miles to Camp Richardson.

You may buy damage insurance for a $59 fee instead of giving us a deposit. The damage insurance is issued by Homeaway and is not refundable. To arrange this click 'Email Owner' with your dates, make that request and I'll send you a quote with which you can book the cabin.

About Peter Rapier

My name is Peter. The first place I backpacked in California was in the Desolation Wilderness, first rock climbing at 90 Foot Wall, and up near Luther Pass south of here is the first place we camped out with our daughter (at 4 months). We love it up here and have been coming for years, bringing visitors and family along.

Peter Rapier purchased this chalet in 2012

Why Peter Rapier chose South Lake Tahoe

Central location yet quiet, no ugly power lines, walking and bike trails right nearby.

Wonderful Cozy Cabin

  • 4 of 5

Was a very nice stay in a updated Highland Woods property. Really close to town, amenities and the beach. Nicely decorated and very comfortable. The owner was very nice and was great communicating with us. Kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked with anything you might need. Loved sitting on the back deck in the evening. I hate to complain, because it was a wonderful place to stay, but there wasn't any air conditioning in the house. Our stay was the first week of August, so it wouldn't effect most stays. When we got there the temp in the house was almost 90 degrees and even though it cools off during the night, it was too warm to sleep upstairs that night.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We were very happy with our stay! The cute little chalet was nicely renovated and had all the amenities we could have wanted. Having on-site washer/dryer and full kitchen was fabulous. The location was superb! Very close to beaches, hiking trails, Vikingsholm Castle, casinos, Heavenly Village shopping & Gondola tour, MS Dixie Lake Tour, and much more. We even tried some of the Owner recommended restaurants and they were outstanding (especially Scusa Italian Restaurant). Owner was very easy to communicate with and always right on top of everything. Thanks for an outstanding visit :)

Excellent home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much! Very clean, nice place. Comfortable beds. Conveniently located to bike trail and shopping. The owner was very kind and prompt in responding to messages. Would love to stay there again sometime. The only thing that would have made it better was air conditioning because we were there in hot July weather and the upstairs was quite warm, but that's Lake Tahoe living. It was nice that there were fans in the house.

Awesome house

  • 5 of 5

This is so far the most wonderful home I have ever stayed at. We had a fantastic time over Christmas Holiday at the cabin! All communication with the owner was courteous, friendly, and helpful!

The home is VERY well maintained. Everything is neat, clean and welcoming. The home is very modern. I kept forgetting that I was actually staying at a "rental". It literally felt like home.

It was super comfortable and I loved the fact that the kitchen was fully stocked. Complete with condiments, seasonings, and all kinds of cooking utensils/pots and pans. We stayed for 5 days and cooked all our meals in the house. We did not want for anything. Everything we neat and orderly and very easy to find.

The beds were very comfortable. The cabin was very accommodating with the three bathrooms. We especially loved that there was a bedroom downstairs too. The cabin is close enough to the action, but far enough away to still feel like you're getting away from it all. Nice to be so close to Heavenly too. We really enjoyed ourselves!

I highly recommend this rental and will book this again without a question! Peter is extremely friendly and hard working! This place shows it!

Awesome stay at this well kept and centrally located chalet

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent 3 day weekend stay at this vacation rental. We are family with young kids and also elderly parents, the stay here was perfect for everyone. Location is very suitable and near by all the services, facilities and lake itself. House is well kept and furnished with well thought commodities that are super helpful. We loved the cleanliness of the furniture, carpets and bedding. Owner is very helpful and quick in responding to the questions. Overall the stay was beautiful and we look forward to return here.

The cabin was awesome, very clean and updated. All the furniture was very comfortable. Peter is very easy to get a hold of with any questions. Very fair price for this quite little slice of Tahoe!
