Best place to stay in Gettysburg!

  • 5 of 5

This was my second stay in your house (my sixth to Gettysburg). This time I was so happy to show off the village, the battlefield, and your house to my daughter and her husband — both first-timers. We started early Saturday morning at the Visitors Center followed by our guided car tour of the battlefield by the incomparable Christine Wolfe — the fourth time I’ve taken her tour! (Ask for her, you will not regret it.). My “kids” fell in love with the experience, so we not only spent the rest of the day on the battlefield but went back after dark for a truly spiritual experience. We were all so glad to get back to the house and collapse in the parlor for wine and talk.

Your house is nearly perfect — a comfortable combination of historic structure and modern updates. The beds and the linens are high quality. The kitchen had everything we needed. The back parking is easy.

More than anything, what fun it is to open the double front doors and step out into history. Thank you for sharing your house! We’ll be back!

We will consider staying again

  • 4 of 5

The place was clean and very well maintained. The place was larger than I originally thought. The only issue that we had, which wasn't too bad, was that there was only one bathroom. There were 5 women in this house with one bathroom. We made it work because were are sisters and sisters aren't shy around each other. The days were unseasonably warm (hot/muggy) and there was no central air and two air conditioners in the back rooms, which you could not use at the same time. So, temperature was also an issue, but we managed. We hated to leave. I slept in the back so only the bigger trucks I would hear, but if you are not used to traffic 24/7 then I would suggest bringing a fan or a sound machine to block it out. You can't move the house. We really enjoyed the house though. It was in a great spot to walk anywhere.

Great Spot for Wedding Gathering

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect house in a perfect location suitable for visiting Gettysburg and exploring downtown. We used the home as a gathering spot for a bridal party to get prepared for a wedding. It is a beautiful historic home, clean, and had all the necessities. Quiet, comfortable, easy access and parking. We had 7 bridesmaids, 2 moms, a bride and 2 girls for the hair and makeup and still had plenty of room to move about and mingle. The photographer even loved the place to use for the photos backdrop. We had a wonderful time and the home added to our great memories. We plan on coming back again to visit Gettysburg. All we needed was more time. We would definitely rent again.

In the heart of Gettysburg.....

  • 5 of 5

The house is historic but modern for a family's needs in 2017. Everything is within walking distance of the Stahle House but the convenience of assigned parking let's you decide whether you want to drive or walk. Highly recommend! This was our second stay and we'll be back again.

Loved the house and the location!

  • 5 of 5

We are so glad we chose to stay in this historic Civil War house instead of a hotel. The location is perfect as we much prefer walking. The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The deck and private back yard are a plus as we always prefer eating breakfast and having coffee outside. We were very pleased with the comfort of the beds and slept well! Anyone looking for a great house in a great location in Gettysburg should consider this home!

Convenient House Full of History

  • 5 of 5

We loved our week long stay here at this house! My parents have been to Gettysburg several times but it was my first. They usually rent a motel room but I found this house and I prefer renting houses on vacation so I can feel like I am home. This house provided just that; a home away from home. The house was clean and had all the necessities that we needed and the location is fantastic! We were able to walk to so many places which was so convenient. The house is gorgeous and you can feel the history of it. We have been telling everyone we know about this house and would definitely stay in the house again.
