Casa de Delfines is located on the first street outside of Puerto Viejo and only a 200 meter walk down our quiet street to Playa Negra. This location means you are close to fabulous restaurants, shopping, spas, and nightlife in town and in complete tranquility at the house!
The lower level consists of a dining room, kitchen, full bathroom, bedroom, and laundry room. The dining room has a hardwood table and chairs. The kitchen is fully equipped for days when you would rather eat in. The full bathroom has terra cotta tiles and a large walk-in hot water shower. The downstairs bedroom has a new air conditioner and screened glass windows and is the perfect place for sensitive electronics. The laundry room has a washing machine and wash basin. Dirty beach clothes are no problem and no need to pack tons of clothes!
The beautiful hardwood upper level consists of the living room, two bedrooms, and half bath. There are cathedral ceilings for great air flow and ceiling fans in every room. The living room is open air and faces towards the Caribbean. There are chair hammocks so you can relax and listen to the sounds of the jungle and ocean! The half bath can be accessed from both bedrooms. The master bedroom has a full sized bed, mosquito net, and shelves for clothing. The second bedroom has two twin beds with mosquito nets and also has shelving for clothing. Also each bedroom has a keyed door.
The outside is completely fenced and gated for security and there are tall privacy hibiscus lining the entire property. The entrance gate is beautifully carved with dolphins and opens to a covered carport for your vehicle. The back patio has a large hammock for lounging by the new concrete outdoor grill which is perfect for cooking up your day's catch without heating up the kitchen. If you see any ripe bananas, cocoa, plantains, papaya, limes, passion fruit, or coconuts in the garden feel free to pick any of them and try what a truly fresh organic piece of fruit tastes like!
The house has a home phone for free local calls and wireless Internet. There is a large safe for personal belongings. Casa de Delfines gives you the comforts of home while being in a tropical paradise!
We came to Puerto Viejo with our family and fell in love with the area and the people. It was like finding that dream place that has been in your head for a long time. We knew we had to call Puerto Viejo home, at least part- time! Since we cannot be there full-time we want to share our home and this wonderful place with others.
Krystle Richardson purchased this house in 2012
We believe it is a great house for many reasons. It's proximity to the beach and town are perfect. The home has a cool concrete bottom with vaulted ceilings and ceiling fans on the upper level for maximum comfort. The kitchen and bathrooms have all of the modern conveniences that make you feel at home while in a jungle paradise.
We enjoyed staying in the VRBO! We wish the great air conditioning room was upstairs for sleeping but were glad it was an option to cool off downstairs as we are not used to the heat and humidity being from Minnesota this time of year. The community was wonderful and everyone was very kind and helpful.
We stayed one month and could have stayed an eternity. In this house you feel at home instantly. Perfekt location, outside living room, nice garden, lovely decoration, well equipped kitchen. We definitely loved it and will be back.
We drove in to PV for the final week of a two week trip in CR. The house was ready for us and the manager, Susana was amazing. We just loved visiting with her! She was a wealth of information about the house and town and surrounding areas. The house itself was a perfect fit for our vacation. My husband and I travelled with our 20 year old daughter and her best friend. The upstairs open living room was the place we all tried to stake a claim to because it was the best place to hang out and read and relax. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. Would 100% stay again if we find ourselves back in PV.
My family of 5 stayed for nine days right after Christmas. Casa de Delfines was perfect - lots of room and tastefully decorated with lovely extra touches throughout. Highlights for us were the upstairs sitting area and lush beautiful outside (look out the window and see a coconut tree!). Beach at the end of the lane, nature path along the sea as well as surfboard rentals (great waves!) Easy access to white water rafting, ziplining and other excursions. About a five minute walk from the charming, eclectic town of Puerto Viejo with its wonderful shops and restaurants. If you like breakfast out, we would highly recommend Soda Elizabeth. Relaxed atmosphere, great food and equally great service. Great experience!
I can't say enough good about this place! Location couldn't be better, it is very close to town but not in town. It's a stones throw from the most amazing beach. It's off the main road so no traffic noise. The property is safe and secure. The completely fenced yard was awesome with my little one. If he wandered outside I knew there was no danger of getting onto the road. The house is very clean and well equipped. We did all our own cooking and the kitchen was great. The yard is well kept thanks to the very friendly gardener, Oscar. Having the one air conditioned room was awesome when the heat got overwhelming in the middle of the day. The stairs have a gate at the top which was a must with small children. It was a totally baby/ toddler friendly house. I 100% recommend this house for your stay in Peurto Viejo. Thank you Krystal!
Let me first tell you that it was fairly easy finding this property. Krystle (house owner) gave me perfect directions and was clear about everything. The location of the house is PERFECT. It's like 2 blocks from the beach ... and 4 blocks to Puerto Viejo. You do not need a car, but perhaps bicycles would be nice to have! (you can rent them in the town!) The house in itself was beautiful. When we first arrived, the gardiner, Oscar, was working. He helped us call the house manager, Susana, so she could come over and give us a tour of the place & the keys. Susana was SO sweet and just perfect. She showed us the house & even gave us tips on where to go visit! After she left, we began unpacking our bags and Oscar began to cut "pipas" (coconuts) for us! He gave us each a pipa to drink & they were absolutely delicious! It was an amazing welcome to the property! As we were just going around the property's backyard and looking at all the beautiful plants and trees it has ... believe it or not ... we saw a sloth with a little baby going down a tree in our neighbor's backyard. It was a few feet away from us and it was unbelievable. The house has everything you could need. Towels, sheets, washing/drying machines, hammocks!!!!, 2 queen beds and two twin beds, two bathrooms but one shower (hot water!), etc. If you are going to cook at the house, make sure you go to the grocery store because the fridge won't have anything! & make sure to decompose! Susana said they like to keep trash to the minimum. This was a great house and I cannot wait to go back. I would definitely stay here many many many times! Thank you Susana and Oscar! And thank you Krystle for letting my family and friends stay at your place! Hopefully, it won't be long till we go back!! Pura Vida!
