About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, Sleeps 6

Nestled in the Santa Cruz mountains, this peaceful and charming, pet-friendly Central California Coast vacation home is an ideal destination for relaxation. Get away from the demands of the Bay Area with a weekend in the mountains near Felton, not far from lively Santa Cruz. Ideal for families, there's a jungle gym in the large yard and plenty of space indoors for your whole group to feel right at home.

This mountain location is only a 30 minute drive from Santa Cruz's popular beaches and boardwalk. And yet, when you're here, it's like being in a quiet cabin in the woods. Both Quail Hollow Ranch County Park and Loch Lomond Recreation Area have plenty of outdoor activities and for a game of golf, just head to the Pasetiempo Golf Course, just 10 miles away.

When you are not out wine tasting at nearby vineyards or catching some waves at the shore, this Felton Getaway Cabin boasts tall, wood-beamed ceilings in the living room, a wood-burning fireplace, WiFi, and even Netflix streaming. In addition, there's a collection of board games for the kids and a huge outdoor lot for everyone (including the pets) to enjoy.

You'll have a full kitchen, dining room, and two bedrooms here for up to six guests. And if you do bring your pets, up to two dogs can join you - an additional nightly fee applies. Featuring a unique, detached floor plan, the upstairs and downstairs are only connected through an outdoor stairway. The lower level is ideal for kids with two twin beds in the bedroom and the cabin's full bathroom.

While on the main level, you'll have the living room, dining room, kitchen, and the first bedroom. You'll also have a washer and dryer for clean clothes whenever needed, so there's no need to try and keep you're clothes clean while out having fun.

This Felton vacation cabin is perfect for a family getaway to the peaceful, quiet region just outside of the Bay Area. Only four miles away is Trout Farm Inn - stop by for a hearty brunch, karaoke nights, or an afternoon lounging around the community pool. Of course, you can always be on the beach in an easy 30 minutes! Walk along the sand, visit the popular Santa Cruz Boardwalk, or just relax on the sand.

For a year-round California getaway that's big on charm, plan a stay at this Felton vacation home. Tucked away in the trees, it's ideal for recharging and unwinding, surrounded by wineries, mountains, and not too far away, the scenic Santa Cruz beaches.

Peaceful mountain get away

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful home and very peaceful. However , very hard to find, especially at night . It is nestled way up in the mountain!! Other than that I really enjoyed my stay . Very good customer service as well.

Would stay again

Pros: Cute property with lots of amenities and plenty of privacy. Well kept and cared for, although a bit old and creaky. I'm a hotel snob typically and even I liked it here. :) fire pit was great for making smores and doing a bit of "glamping".

Cons: Was not thrilled about the leaky, smelly septic tank and maintenance man that arrived at 6-7pm on Sunday in the middle of our dinner to fix some broken screens: please do maintenance work on your own time and not when guests have paid to be there.

Owner's Response: We sincerely apologize for the unannounced maintenance work. This happened due to a miscommunication. We would not typically send someone out to do maintenance work during a guest visit unless the guest requested it. The septic holding tank has been repaired so it is now running perfectly. Thanks!

Dangerous at night.

  • 3 of 5

Don't even think about renting this place, if you plan on driving at night. The roads leading up to the cabin have hairpin turns, non-existent or confusing signage, and several sections where the asphalt is deteriorating and sliding down the hills. It's dangerous. Even in the daytime, we got lost 6 times in 2 days, even with Vacasa's written instructions and our GPS turned on.

The property itself is alright, however, its fallen into disrepair:

Downstairs door doesn't lock; anyone can enter the premises just by pushing open the door.

Torn window screens.

Both the upstairs and downstairs screen doors are broken.

Downstairs mini-fridge makes a loud clanging sound, when the compressing kicks on, waking anyone in the room.

Fire extinguishers have expired certificates.

The cleanliness is also substandard. We found dirty underwear in the sofa bed! (The maids didn't change the dirty sheets from the previous occupants. Inexcusable.)

Also, the fact that the downstairs and upstairs aren't connected is insane. We didn't think it would be that a big deal, but in hindsight we should have passed on this location; it really sucks, in the middle of the night, having to go outside by yourself, and go to the downstairs bathroom.

Owner's Response: We are disappointed to see this guest did not better enjoy this cabin experience. We feel that being in a remote area with the unique layout can be half the fun! The property manager has re-screened and realigned the sliding screen doors, the fire extinguishers have been serviced, and a handyman is scheduled to inspect the fridge. We sincerely apologize for the housekeeping oversight with the sofa bed. The property manager has followed-up with housekeeping so we can ensure it does not happen again. Thank you!
