|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Our beachfront getaway is on the 6th floor of Playa Azul I, in the seaside village of Luquillo, located in the northeast coast, northwest of Fajardo; and east of Rio Grande. It is approximately a 30 minute drive from San Juan Airport.
Playa Azul I is part of a gated complex with a swimming pool, and tennis and basketball courts. The front gate and buildings are staffed with security 24/7. The beach is less than a one minute walk! Please note that the beach in front of the condo is not staffed by lifeguards.
The apartment has two bedrooms each with new air conditioners. Bedroom 1 has one queen sized bed and on suite bathroom with walk-in closet. Bedroom 2 is larger and has one king sized bed with an on suite bathroom and walk-in closet. Each bedroom has windows that open overlooking the ocean. Bed linens and towels provided.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a new cooktop, dishes, knives, utensils, and cookware. We also have a washer and a dryer for your convenience.
The living room has a ceiling fan to circulate the ocean breeze to keep things cool. We have an HD TV with a cable and WiFi internet access.
We have a large balcony to enjoy the scenic view. We eat most of our meals outside.
DO NOT LEAVE SMALL CHILDREN UNATTENDED ON THE BALCONY!! They may crawl up on furniture and be in danger. Keep the furniture away from the railing.
You can have a lazy relaxing vacation, active vacation or a combination of both!
Monserrate Beach or Luquillo Beach has breathtaking coconut palms that shade more than a mile of fine and shimmering sand. It is one of the most popular and nicest public beaches in the San Juan area. It offers food stands, public bathrooms with showers, access for disabled people, and an ample parking lot. This is one of the public beaches most frequented by the locals and is a 10 minute walk or a 2 minute drive from Playa Azul. Lifeguards are on staff and the water is warm and calm.

Michael purchased this apartment in 2012
Luquillo is special to my family. We started vacationing here 7 years ago as a family and were 'hooked!' Playa Azul I is on the beach with the scenic views we love.
Our apartment has views of both El Yunque Rainforest and the ocean. We feel so relaxed and at home in Playa Azul. We hope you will feel the same!!

The apartment is located on the beach. You go to bed and wake up listening and seeing the Caribbean. It is well located within a short distance of grocery stores and the kioscos of Luquillo where you can choose among many options to dine. It is a short drive to San Juan, and about 15 minutes to El Yunque.
Well furnished with a the basic necessities it is a perfect place to stay and explore Puerto Rico.
We were very happy with our stay here! We received prompt and informative responses to our inquiries to the owner, and the overall booking process was a breeze. The condo was just right for us; squeaky clean, not too small and not too big, two good-sized bedrooms with separate bathrooms, well appointed kitchen, laundry in-unit, etc. The best of all is the balcony. We loved chilling in the hammock and listening to the waves.
The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful when we had questions, and the gated environment provided some extra peace of mind. Playa Azul I is a gorgeous facility. Luquillo has somewhat of a far-removed feel for those who want some peace and quiet, yet it is actually centrally located between the beach, the rain forest, Fajardo, and just a 30-40 minute drive to San Juan when traffic is reasonable. Grocery stores, pharmacies, and many other retail operations are just a stone's throw away in a plaza about 0.25 - 0.5 miles from the condo building. If you want table service, the Brass Cactus is just a couple buildings down the street from Playa Azul. They have super friendly service and excellent pub food. I am partial to the hot wings!
And now a few tips...
-- Rent a vehicle to get around the island (you're welcome).
-- Walk along the beach in front of the condo, especially a few minutes to the east, where there is an area where the waves converge and are much friendlier to swimmers (you can swim in front of the condo, just be attentive to the waves. There's a pool, too!).
-- Explore the island. Puerto Rico has so much to offer, especially if you are willing to look around. We found a wonderful, reasonably priced, private snorkeling and bio bay tour a couple hours south in La Paguera, but I'm sure there are closer opportunities, too. It is worth paying a little more to have more time, and one-on-one attention from a guide!
-- Explore without a GPS if you do not know the island well.
-- Stress about the occasional, brief rain. You are near a rain forest. We found the majority of each day to be sunny, but some rain is almost a guaranteed daily event.
-- Use the ferries in Fajardo without checking with a local or someone in the know. The ferry workers have recently been on strike and/or conducting work slowdowns. When we attempted to use the ferry, we waited in line for almost 90 minutes, only to be turned back. Some were waiting for 2+ hours to get the next one!
-- Get stuck in San Juan rush hour traffic!
This our fifth trip to Puerto Rico, 2nd time in this building, (which is the closest one to the beach). It is easy to get to, very secure, and has a beautiful view. This unit is well-equipped, clean and well-maintained with good wifi. It is not appointed like the Hyatt Regency but it is a very good value and we were totally happy with it. Brass Cactus restaurant was excellent this time as well as Kiosko #38. Boardriders restaurant was good too. We preferred Luquillo beach, (5min away) due to less waves, wind and more services like food and drinks, rental lounges etc. We drove a couple times, ($5.50 to park) and walked a couple times. I would rent this unit again and would recommend it as a good value.
Beautiful apartment with a beautiful view, huge room, lots of privacy with separate bathrooms, close to everything if you are planning to visit east of the island this location is perfect. Mr. Michael, helped us a lot with few problems. I want to thank you Mr Michael for sharing your apartment with us. All had a very nice time, and my daughter and her husband were delighted with everything the aprtamento offers too.We think of returning in the not too distant future. Thank you
My family and I were pleased with this apartment. Our family of six, four kids ages eleven to twenty, loved the access to the beach, the pool, the proximity to El Yunque, grocery store and for them, the galore of tv channels and wifi. We were here at the end of July, and though it was very humid and hot, the air conditioners and fans helped a ton. The balcony was a lovely place to sit and enjoy the ocean, especially having the hammock to rock and listen to the waves. The kids even slept outside. The beach is a family friendly and safe place to soak up the sun and play in the water. Thanks for the boogie boards, the kids had a blast with them. We would definitely come back here, thanks for letting us use your home.
This 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment was a great pick. My husband, dad and I enjoyed our 3 night stay here. The waves in the beach directly across were rough so instead we went to the calmer side of the beach in back of the Luquillo kiosk which is a 2 minute car ride. We also enjoyed a day at the pool and exploring. If you want to eat a real good dinner Kiosk #2 La Parilla best seafood ever. El yunque was also a beautiful place to visit. If we were to visit Luquillo again I will definitely rent this apt again (BTW This building Playa Azul I is the closest to the water front view). The morning view, night breeze, along with the hammock were the best part of this trip and well worth it!!
