We spend our time between Kingsville and Wilberforce (Haliburton/Bancroft).
I enjoy kayaking, canoeing, metal smithing (jewelry making) quilting, painting, reading, learning and writing. Walking with my dog.
Ric enjoys the classic car hobby with his 34 Plymouth Sedan, reading, carpentry.
We are animal lovers. We have two four legged family members. Charley our female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Jessie our bad boy siamese.
We focus on quality of life, maintaining our health and dreaming new dreams.
We have a lock box for the key. We hire out to have the house cleaned between vacationers, but sometimes one or both of us our part of the cleaning team.
We both have health issues that take top priority in our daily lives.

Our place has location, location, location. We have the most spectacular unobstructed views: sunrises, sunsets, birds, boats, ships, weather, fishing, all lake activity and great swimming. The Chirping Grapevine is ideally located within the heart of wine and bird country. Ideally situated half way between Point Pelee and Holiday Beach for the bird watchers and centred for the wineries of your choice. Kingsville is a quaint little hamlet with restaurants, groceries, drug store, restaurants, video rental, library for you to explore. There are wineries in every direction. I have provided a page with necessary information to make your selections and planning easier. Within wine country you also find Ontario's food industry with farms and greenhouse operations aplenty. Enjoy eating local grown food and grazing the farmers stands for your favourites. Add a bottle of wine from one of the local wineries and enjoy a fabulous local grown meal all found within Kingsville. Shop, eat, golf, fish, walk, birdwatch, eat, all water activities are all a short drive within Kingsville. Or sit back and relax on the deck, watching the Lake activity, bbqing, swimming, reading, birdwatching. Launch your own kayak from the deck.
I fell in love with the view. Location, Location, Location. We are located on a rock ridge; High and dry. The houses on the other side of the road back onto the creek while we are on Lake. From my Great Room or the deck I experience the diversity of birds, the frolicking, antics and inner play, both on the lake and land. Listen to the waves crashing or the gentle swish of water on a calm day/night. Watch the wind shift and the waves change direction. Watch white caps on a high wind or view the birds on the sand bar during quiet weather.
I love to walk, we have trails everywhere. Easy to access and enjoyable to traverse. Walk down the street and then onto Cedar Beach. Walk along the water in the sand. Head, by car, down Arner Town Line and park at the Cedar Creek entrance and parking, to enjoy the walking trails, or canoe, kayak. Boating and marinas at just down the street at Cedar Beach.
Cedar Island also has a huge public beach for the beach goers. I love Kingsville's central location.
Short drive to Pelee Island Ferry. Golf Courses
New Dog Park Just around the corner. Follow Heritage Road East and turn left on Conservation Drive. The Park and parking is on the left. You can drive the 10 blocks or enjoy a longer walk.
We are very pleased to have a fully renovated house with the new upper addition. All with great views. Great swimming and a great deck.
We are leaving tomorrow. We had a great time thank you for letting us in your cottage.
We did not know what to do with the trash so we left them close to the door on the inside. Let me know if you prefer other arrangement.
We will leave tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks again and perhaps till next year.
Had a wonderful 5 days at "chirping grapevine". Weather and location were perfect. House was first rate. Everything in the house was perfect. Dogs (Scottie and Westie) fell in love with deck and were fascinated with water breaking on the rocks. Visited nearby vineyards and towns. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Restaurants in Kingsville were very good. Monarch butterflies were migrating into Pelee point. Beautiful. Will return to area
My wife and I stayed at this lovely house for a week while we discovered the Kingsville area. We loved falling asleep to the sound of the lake and trying all the local wines. Peggy and Ric have done a great job on the house - it's a real charmer! And everything you need is there. We'll be back!!
We just spent 5 glorious days at this beautiful home, to attend a family Wedding at Sprucewood Winery. A fully renovated home with a spectacular loft. 3 beds/3 baths, awesome for couples. We even baked a Wedding cake! Great new appliances were wonderful to use. And the view, the view, the view! Our doggies did struggle at first, with the small patch of grass they had to share, but they adjusted LOL. We would definitely stay here again. A wonderful getaway, for sure.
Beautiful cottage and the view was awesome. Loved everything about the cottage, They supplied everything all you had to bring was your clothes and food. Will definitely be staying again.
An absolutely beautiful renovated cottage! Nice amenities and small things like spices for cooking and nice pots, pans and tupperware. Many home comforts and a lovely deck/view. Will return again.
This property has everything. A great view and all the comforts of home. The addition on the upper level is an added bonus. We hope to be back next year.
