About Bill Wells
Bill and Sally Wells are the owners of the property and live nearby. Sally grew up on the property. Bill is a native of Upper St. Clair, PA and moved to WV in 1981 where he worked as a mining engineer. After living in several different states, we moved back to Fayetteville in 2012.
Bill Wells purchased this Lodge in 2007
Why Bill Wells chose Fayetteville
Sally's father built the house in 1955. We both love the outdoors and have vacationed here for many years. We were fortunate to be able to purchase the property for a weekend getaway in 2007. In August, we moved into a newly built home on the property. During construction of the new house, the original house was completely remodeled as a vacation rental.
What makes this Lodge unique
The property contains 25 mostly wooded acres that are shared by the Ramsey Mountain Lodge, the Sugar Creek Chalet (vrbo #563229) and our residence. The house is secluded but is a short 20 minute walk into downtown Fayetteville where there are many unique restaurants, shops and pubs. The stonework on the house was completed by skilled Italian stone masons whose work can be seen throughout Fayetteville. The house has a roomy interior with hardwood and tile floors, stone fireplaces with gas logs, granite counter tops, hardwood paneling and many other features. A pool table is located in the finished basement and a stone fire pit and horseshoe court are in the yard. The house is located on the edge of the plateau and the view from the front porch is of the valley below and the adjacent mountains. The back porch overlooks an orchard and vineyard. Fruit grown on the property includes apples, peaches, plums, cherries, grapes, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and many more. One of our hobbies is wine making and we get all of our fruit from the backyard orchard and vineyard. The house is an excellent location for mountain biking or hiking. The National Park trail heads are only a few miles away. Larger groups of up to 29 can be accommodated by renting both the Ramsey Mountain Lodge and Sugar Creek Chalet (vrbo 563229).

Beautiful land and setting and a large, historic residence.
We had a fabulous experience and really appreciated the owners’ reeponsiveness, flexibility and help. I asked many questions of Bill during the trip preparation time, and I consistently received prompt feedback and good help. We were so grateful for the accommodating and sweet hosts.
Mr.Bill was very nice and helpful .its a great property to spend family vacation. Great value for the money
I recommend this property.
Lovely country lodge
Bill was a very gracious host. We had plenty of room for everyone to rest comfortably. Really enjoyed the woods and grounds surrounding the house. Porch swings were great for the evenings and the fire pit was most appreciated after dark. I would recommend this rental for anyone who enjoys getting out of the city for a true county experience.
The location was perfect -out of the way but near town.
The owners were very accommodating, and the house was well stocked, and had many places to gather and relax. The information about local activities was very helpful. We had a great trip!
Relaxing and Comfortable Home
Very comfortable for our group of 13 from teenagers to grandparents for 6 night stay. Everything you need for your stay with well supplied kitchen, bbq and fire pit for evening campfires & smores. Very serene location and had the delight of seeing deer everyday. Walmart, pharmacy etc close by for all your necessities. We grocery shopped for 2-3 days at a time till we emptied fridge and then made the 5 min. drive to fill it back up again.
Home pictures are accurate and home is just as neat and well taken care of as it appears. Grandparents were able to relax at home on porches on the days when they did not accompany us for an activity. Went white water rafting, hiking, swimming at Summersville lake and all were so convenient to the property with the lake being furthest away at about 20 min.
Great Family Vacation
Instead of heading to the beach again, we decided to have a "backyard" family vacation. Three generations (ages 21-75) gathered together for some good R&R time and also some exciting "Wild, Wonderful WV" time. Our family members enjoyed the change of pace and returning to their home state.
I was concerned that space (especially refrigerator) might be a problem for our group of 14, especially since we are a cooking family. We solved that with coolers. I also worried that the number of bedrooms might be a problem. The basement area made up for that and provided a wonderful place for our younger crowd. The pool table there was also well used. All the other amenities made up for anything that I was concerned about.
We felt like we were home. The house is well kept, very clean and meant for relaxing and having fun. We built a campfire, made s'mores, told family stories, and even sang. We laughed at how bad we had become at horseshoes. The spacious porches were occupied most of the time. The owners were so gracious and welcoming.
Some of our group enjoyed white water rafting. We failed miserably but had a great time at the Escape Room. The Ace Adventure Water Park was a fun day. The restaurants were good. The peace and quiet was refreshing.
It was a good week. Even if something larger or more modern were available, I still would choose Ramsey Mountain Lodge. It just has personality and was a good fit.
We really enjoyed meeting and having Donna and her family as guests. The house is equipped with a full size refrigerator. The basement area has a bedroom with 4 bunk beds. There is also a futon in the basement family room. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs with a total of 5 beds (1 king in the master bedroom, 2 twin beds in each of the other bedrooms) plus a pull out couch in the living room. The house including the kitchen and bathrooms was completely remodeled in 2013.
