John and Lin bought this property for their retirement, they hope to live here in the summers at some point, in the meantime, they rent their home to help to pay for it, so please take care of our home as if it were your own, so we can continue to share it with others.
Lin Peterson purchased this house in 2012
It is a dream come true, we love the main coast, watching the wildlife on our secluded 11 acres, fishing, and relaxing, clambakes by the beach, exploring the area, Acadia National Park, and just getting away from it all!!!
It was a pleasure working with Lin in securing their home for a week's vacation. It was a quiet, peaceful, secluded vacation. The house and grounds are stunning. If you wake up early you may find a beautiful sunrise over the bay. We traveled nearly every day visiting quaint shops, farmer's markets, and nearby attractions. "Lunch on the Wharf" had the best lobstah rolls! The Machias Blueberry Festival was our last stop before heading west to Michigan. If you're looking for an out-of-the-way, away from the congestion of tourists getaway, this is definitely the right place for you! Thank you Lin and John!
The peace and quiet of this secluded and very comfortable place was amazing. It felt like we were staying in a nature preserve! We saw deer, fox, rabbits, and birds galore and the birds songs and delicious smell of the fir was something i wish i could take home! We enjoyed going to the local farmers' markets and cooking in the well stocked kitchen. The Thursday morning farmer's market in Machias was our favorite. An added bonus of Misty Tides was that early in the month we ate wild strawberries and by mid-month were collecting wild blueberries right on the property! Having morning coffee on the porch and evening drinks on the deck was highlite too! Thank you Lin and John for sharing your beautiful home!!! It was a wonderful vacation and I highly recommend to others!!!
The property and location far exceeded our expectations. Everything that we needed was here, and there were plenty of local places for food shopping. The home was very comfortable and the view was spectacular. Watched deer almost every day and also caught glimpse of American bald eagles on two occasions. The weather was perfect the entire week. We enjoyed a mix of relaxing at the house and taking in the local attractions. If you are looking for a place of peace and quiet with views that are breathtaking, yet can travel to major attractions such as Bar Harbor and Acadia Park then this should be on your list. Campfires by the water are a great way to end a day of exploring. Great deals on lobster and steamers as well. I could go on and on, but you get the picture.
We just spent a week here and as stated, it is very secluded. But once you get use to it, which took us all of 10 minutes, it is awesome. The home is much prettier than the pictures, the setting is great. We had a fawn and her mama visit us each morning and a couple of times some bucks and a doe. It was awesome watching the tide come in and watching the clammers when tide was out. It is a fantastic location to Bangor, Bar Harbor and other tourist locations. And it was great coming "home" after a day of sightseeing. Slept like a baby because it is so quiet and peaceful. Our vacation there was awesome and working with Lin was like working with someone you have known forever. Thank you Lin and John for sharing your beautiful home!
We (two couples) enjoyed this property immensely! It was even more beautiful than the photos. The home and especially the kitchen was very well equipped. It is so peaceful and quiet and a great place to relax and unwind. Recommend highly!
