I grew up in Camden just around the corner on Bay View Street, and was lucky enough to return with my husband to raise our four children in Maine. My husband is a Real Estate Broker here in town and we are both very active in our community. Camden is a truly special spot and we believe whether this is your first visit or your 100th, it won't be your last! We work very hard to make your stay enjoyable, we are accessible…you may run into us at Boyton Mckay or having a snack on the deck of the Waterfront. We hope to see you soon!
Kate Cohen purchased this house in 2012
This is a new property for us this season and it is lovely. Situated on one of Camden's premier streets, just up from the Peyton Place house. The Chestnut House is an easy walk to town and to the beach, just up from the playground at Montessori school and the YMCA. The house has a wonderful 'flow' and with all the updates it is sure to become a favorite with visitors.
The Chestnut House has a lovely screened porch overlooking the back yard, where you can relax after a day of fun in Camden. There is plenty of space to spread out and enjoy your stay.
90 Chestnut was the perfect house for a girls runaway vacation. Plenty of room for all of us, great kitchen, lovely neighborhood. The convenience to the town/harbor was really wonderful, as we could park the car and walk. Being from the South, the October air was a little chilly; it would have been nice to have some throws/blankets for the early morning cup of coffee on the porch, but we managed just fine. Would come back to this house in a heartbeat!! Thank you Katie for helping make this a once-in-a-lifetime-trip for us!
This is our second year staying in this house. The house is perfect. Beautifully renovated, with a modern kitchen and comfortable living spaces. It is also accessible with a first floor bedroom and bath which we needed. The rest of the family was supper comfortable in the 3 upstairs bedrooms. Our favorite spots were sitting around the kitchen island in the mornings and sitting on the screened in porch throughout the day. The house has super easy access to town and the beach.
And Kate is a great host - making sure we have everything we need to make our stay perfect!
We had a great stay.. Great location, clean and comfortable.
We have rented this house for years. It is well located Bathrooms and kitchen are modern and useful. Beds are comfortable. The location is peaceful. It is a few blocks from the ocean (Laite Beach). Management is local and prompt, should there be any issues. There is a small tv room upstairs. My only complaint would be the absence of a tv in the main living room. I for one, enjoy watching tv as part of my vacation, particularly when it is raining, late at night or between activities. There are also several major tv sports events that seem to fall during our vacation. Overall, with that one exception, a fine property.
There are several ways in which this luxury rental could be improved. While the master suite is a definite plus, the quality and comfort of the living room furniture could be improved-- as a family of five, and for several days seven, we could not gather in the room. There are two large tvs but the area upstairs did not accommodate our group. Likewise the screened in paitio which would benefit from comfortable seating and attention to the screening; overhead fan would have been a welcome addition.
Kitchen appliances are very up to date, and everything we needed -- dishes, toaster, microwave, etc--are provided. Plenty of towels are available for bathrooms and for beach use.
There were several housekeeping issues that made the initial entry to our stay a little disagreeable. While the overall property has been updated, for the price and the on-line photos we expected it to be more luxurious.
The location is great. Just a quick walk into Camden.
Beautiful, historic and nicely restored house just a few minutes from town. Was a great spot for our new family, with a 5-month old and both sets of grandparents stopping by for a night. Plenty of room for everyone and a kitchen that had everything we needed for the meals we cooked! Great location to go on walks in and around town or to walk to one of Camden's great restaurants, or to get in a car and go explore other attractions along the midcoast. Would recommend to anyone.
