The home is filled with original art from Maine artists and artisans many of whom work and study in the premises 'off season'.

With family in nearby Freeport, Cousin's Island was the perfect distance for us to rent. We happened upon this property on VRBO. My family living nearby knew all about Cousins Island. We never could have guessed in a million years how absolutely perfect this home would be for us all. From the time we crossed the threshold we felt as if we were special guests, not rentors in this very wonderful "cottage". Nothing is left to chance. Any or all things one could possibly need are provided from luxury linens and towels to a very well stocked kitchen with beautiful pottery dishes, any pot or pan you could need, paper towels and toilet paper (some rental homes have none of this on hand or the bare minimum), games, beach towels, many beautiful places to sit in the house and outside, and magnificent artwork all about the house. Views are stunning.Nearby across a short causeway ride are many things to tease, temp, and tantalize one on holiday. Rosemont Market in Yarmouth Village for carry out food, bakery items in the AM, wine, fresh flowers and produce, cheese and very fresh fish all on a daily basis. A traditional supermarket is an easy 15 minutes away as are places to eat..grab ice cream...pizza...a drink by the water...we found though most of what we wanted to do was just stay in and around this lovely, peaceful, and serene house. The owner is nearby and helpful, but unobtrusive. We have rented a lot over the last 25 plus years and never have we rented a home to match this one. You can't go wrong be you a family a group of women, etc. This is a very special place.
We rented this wonderful home for our family to spend the Christmas holiday of 2014. We were visiting our son in Portland so he brought his dog to join us. I have a property that I rent out on VRBO, so a great property like this was a jewel to find. We have never been to Maine, and the experience could not have been more magical.
The photos of the home are very representative of what you will find, but the personality and character of this property is an added bonus. There is definitely a lot of love and care in this home, and all 4 of us agreed that even after our son has moved from Maine that we will return again just to stay in this home. The outdoor area was great for the dog and for peaceful walks on the dirt road. The multilevel home was perfect for our young men to stay in the bottom floor with beds, bathroom and full living room. We loved the master BR with the windows looking out into the beautiful woods and ocean.
The owner was wonderful to communicate with prior to our arrival and everything was beautifully prepared for us. We wish we had more time to enjoy this retreat, it was good for the soul! Thank you for everything, we will be back!
We have been vacationing in Maine for about 14 years and this was the most relaxing and easiest of all! The cottage is charming, comfortable and well appointed. The two gas fireplaces are a welcome feature on chilly days. Our family of 6 (4 adults and 2 children) enjoyed kayaking and swimming off the dock which is an easy trek down a garden path. Yarmouth is nearby and has a large grocery store and a gourmet shop (Rosemont) where you can find homemade blueberry pie, cheeses, wine and fresh local produce. We spent an afternoon and evening in Camden and had dinner at Cappy's although Fresh appeared to be more popular. Camden is an artist's mecca. Love it! I can't end without mentioning the excellent biking and walking trails. We literally toured the island on foot. Tamson has gone out of her way to create a memorable experience for her guests.
Traveling back from Nova Scotia on business, stopped here to visit a summer family gathering on site, enjoying several days around Yarmouth and Freeport from this very quiet and secure locale. Was able to swim in refreshing Casco Bay from a private dock. Nicely appointed interior. A bonus for me personally, I had the opportunity to design a small locust sculpture, in part using an artist studio a few steps from a lovely kitchen area. Peaceful and inspiring, both!
Woods, sunsets over water, hiking and bike trails, lovely art and decor, seemingly removed from everything but only 20 mins from Portland. Perfect for 2 couples or single family with several children. It has it all.
My husband and I had the opportunity to get away from Boston for a week over Labor Day. We love the water and Maine, but also have a 10 month old puppy. And had family visiting from Oregon for part of the week. The pressure was on to find a relaxing space for us and the dog, but a good "base" for my mom and her partner to use for touring. Additionally, we wanted to spend time with our friends and their children from New Hampshire. As soon as we saw this house, I knew it would be perfect. It truly was. As soon as we arrived Tamson greeted us and made us feel instantly at home. The space is comfortable and the amenities make one feel as though they have always lived there. The dog took to the grounds and Tara (Tamson's dog) well. As soon as our friend's and there children arrived (ages 8 & 5) they enjoyed the grounds, too. With the youngest stating what everyone felt, "We should live here." The weekend passed with a lot of swimming and an evening spent just watching the thunder and lightening. My family felt the same way. We were able to have a few evenings in Portland and a chance for a make-up turkey dinner. Everyone had a truly fantastic visit. We were sad to leave.
So sad that my husband forgot his computers and work bag.; We missed several efforts made by Tamson to connect with us before we left the state (still in vacation mode, I think.) So Tamson overnighted the bag to us as soon as we gave her an address.
I look forward to many other visits. It was a space that provided exactly what we all needed.
