About Suzie Hicks

Hi, I'm Barry Hicks! I live and work in a nearby community and grew up in the area. I enjoy outdoor activities so we take advantage of the local resources - like the trails, lakes, rivers and streams.

Suzie Hicks purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Suzie Hicks chose Michigan

This cabin is unique and located in the perfect spot that overlooks a trout stream. It's just off the paved highway and only 2 miles from downtown Baldwin. Trails, lakes, rivers and other things to do are just minutes away.

What makes this cabin unique

Custom-built by a master guitar builder, you will not see another cabin quite like it. The location is pristine and the details of the cabin accentuate the surroundings. 6ft. tall windows placed around the domed structures give you direct views of nature. Open beam construction and an open floor plan give this place a comfortable, homey feel.

Beautiful cabin in the woods! We had a wonderful time!

  • 4 of 5

A great place to de-stress and unwind. Wonderful cabin with plenty of space for a couple or small group. Nicely furnished with full kitchen. Close to several small communities and many outdoor activities. A great place for a reasonable price!

Wonderful cabin get-away!

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to come back to after a day of exploring the Lake Michigan coastline, or a trip to Traverse City, or the towns in the area. The Hicks were wonderful about not infringing on our time and were always quick in response to questions. The home is in a very peaceful, wooded setting. It is very clean and well furnished. I especially liked reading the history of the cabin that was in the information book that is very well put together. Would be nice to go back to again.

No oven had to improvise on the grill. Burnt my biscuits. But made the best of it!!

Had a wonderful time!! Loved the privacy. Didn't care for the cat and dogs next door. Chased them away for a couple days then they left us alone. Having a fire every night was great. Lots of wildlife.

Amazing and beautiful ♡

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is amazing. We can not wait to come back if they will have us again! It is so beautiful and well taken care of. The views, design- are so thought out. You have so many views and the layout it perfect! The fireplace is outstanding and memorizing. You will get lost by looking at the dancing fire and perfectly placed stones to make it. Along with once looked like a waterfall next to the fireplace. (I wish I could upload photos but that would not do it justice!) The owners are so sweet. Thinking of leaving you the "little things" to use that you would normally forget. They asked and checked in on us to make sure everything was great and we did not need anything. We were a little sad because the oven was not working but we were caught up doing things outside the cabin so it was not that bad.

They even had maps and places near by, it was a great tool. It is located not far from hiking, or taking your truck/vehicle off road, 4 wheeling. Not a far drive either to the sand dunes, horseback riding, canoeing or fishing.

We have so many great memories. Could not have asked for a better anniversary. Thank you again!

Beyond Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

The Sanborn Creek Cabin is far more beautiful in person! Mr and Mrs Hicks had the cabin ready for our arrival and we were welcome to use extra bedding, towels etc. It is in the perfect location for peace and beauty. I can't begin to say how perfect our stay was from the cleanliness of the cabin to its unique layout, character of the cabin itself, to the creek and spectacular scenery!! I plan on booking another trip in the near future. The Sanborn Creek Cabin is the "only" place I plan on booking in the area from now on!!!!
