I'm Katia and I'm the hostess of PODERE MOLINO in Panicale. This is a beautiful Podere with private pool and garden and lovely view of Panicale and the rolling countrysides, located at only a step from the main Plaza of my charming medieval hill town, Panicale, just south of Lake Trasimeno. The owners asked me to be their host and help them with our guests. I am pleased to welcome guests from every part of the world, to introduce them to Umbrian village, and to share our traditions and culture. Panicale makes a great home base to visit other nearby hill towns, as well as to enjoy 'la dolce vita' right at PODERE MOLINACCIO, with its lovely garden and location. The locals in Panicale welcome visitors with a warmth and openness that will make you want to stay forever. The hustle and bustle of the high-tourist hill towns you visit are left behind you at the end of the day, when you return to the peacefulness of Panicale.
Owner/Property Manager purchased this farmhouse in 2012
Panicale is a typical and very beautiful medieval Umbrian hilltop town. Time has absolutely stood still in this village. One can still see signs of a former lifestyle -- cannon turrets, alcoves near the two historic center entrances where night watchmen once stood, ancient cobblestone streets and antique, operable water fountains. Panicale boasts four wonderful restaurants, two cafes (cafe/bar/gelateria), and three small grocery stores (2 inside the walled village) selling everything from fresh produce, wonderful salami & meats, cheeses and wine to toiletries and common household supplies. There is a terrific butcher who will gladly make fresh sausages for you while you wait. Just outside the walls, there is a bakery, where fresh bread, pastries, and a variety of delicious pizza/focaccia await you (open at 6am, for early risers!). The town barber will give you a hair cut and a shave, or if you want to catch up with the latest gossip, drop by the hairdresser. The famous 'little' theater, hosts well-publicized cultural events. however, the most fun can be found in the main plaza on weekend nights (summers) when free, live entertainment performs as you sip local wine or a cappuccino. Panicale also has a tourist information office, a real estate agency, pottery shop, linens and gift store, drug store, stationary/internet point selling foreign newspapers and magazines, post office, and a bank/ATM. Minutes away by car is a full service spa, where you can have a manicure, beauty treatment or massage. Panicale is home to 50 full-time residents. During the summer months this number grows to about 800. The town is within short driving distance to Perugia, Assisi (home of Saint Francis), Cortona, Todi, Deruta (reknown pottery/ceramics), Spello, and Siena. The nearby wine towns of Orvieto (stunning basilica!), Montepulciano
PODERE MOLINO is a WONDERFUL PODERE with a beautiful private pool and garden. The quaint medieval hill town of Panicale makes a great 'home base' to explore both Umbria and eastern Tuscany. The village offers restaurants, shops, small grocery stores, butcher shop, bakery, bank with ATM, and many other amenities. Stroll with the locals through the cobblestone streets. Sip an espresso or a glass of great Umbrian wine outside one of the cafes. Take a step back in time, enjoy the amazing sunrises and sunsets, and simply RELAX! The locals are friendly and open. Moreover, a number of Panicalesi speak English, so language is never a barrier here! Inside the medieval walls, you will find very few cars, as the village is closed to vehicular traffic. Parking is always available outside the two main entrances (portals) to the walled town. Panicale is very centrally located: 90 minutes south by train is Rome, with Orvieto and other hill towns along the way. Just over 100 minutes north by train is Florence. By car, you can easily drive to Cortona, Perugia, Assisi, Deruta, Montefalco, and Montepulciano as well as the impressive nearby Casteglione del Lago fortress and Lake Trasimeno, with its unique islands and many sporting, dining and cultural activities. One visit to Panicale and you will want to return, as many guests do, year after year.
Truly beautiful house in a great location.
The house was perfect for a stay of 2 families with children. We have visited it in July. If you are looking for a classic italian style house - that's what you're looking for.
House and the owner's area is very big. It's well equipped and clean. The garden with large pool is also great.
The location is great if you want to discover main Italy's cities like: Rome, Florence, Sienna (most of them are 2 hours away by car). Even Venice is 4-5 hours away.
You will find 4 restaurants and one grocery shop in Panicale and some supermarkets in cities nearby (15 minutes by car from the house).
What I cannot forget to mention is the manager - Katia is a really wonderful person - very helpful and taking care of. On the first night (Sunday night), when our daughter had a small accident and needed medical intervention - she and her husband took us to hospital and helped with everything. Katia thanks for everything one more time :)
Anyway - we highly recommend the house, location and the manager. Have fun as all 7 of us did.
We had a wonderful stay here and were able to use it as a base to explore many of the neighbouring towns. The garden and pool area was particularly welcome after a long hot day sight seeing.
We spent a week at Podere Molinaccio (1 & 2) with our families, 4 adults and 4 kids ages 3-14. The property is perfectly situated in the hills across from the beautiful village of Panicale. It is a perfect location for a home base while exploring the beauty of Umbria and Tuscany. We spent our days in the surrounding areas, whether walking through the hilly, picturesque streets of Panicale or taking the train from the easily accessible Chiusi into Florence, and our evenings cooking meals for our family in the well-equipped kitchen. We were ecstatic to see that the dining table fit us all perfectly! While we were too late in the season to enjoy the swimming pool, it was still beautiful enough out to grab a book to read poolside and enjoy just being on the well-kept grounds. Katia and Chiara were fantastic hosts. Katia even came down from the house to lead us back up on the first night since we got there well after dark. Chiara who lives on the ground floor of the Villa is a very discrete lady, not intrusive at all, but all the time available for any thing we needed.
And Katia is a fantastic host as well....always ready to reply to all our questions and full of information. When we arrived, we were greeted by a bottle of Chianti and a wonderful recommendation for local pizza. The house is huge and charming. We spent hours sitting outside drinking wine and letting our children play on the grounds. Our daughter keeps asking to go back to the "Italy House": I look forward to the day that I can say "ok!" This was truly the most memorable trip of our lives.
We recently spent a week at beautiful PODERE MOLINACCIO and I am delighted to highly recommend this vacation rental property. The knowledgeable and experienced owners were a great resource for recommendations on top restaurants, wineries, and site seeing. The spacious bedrooms have all an in-suite bath and the beddings were oh so comfortable. All the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. It is evident that the owners take pride in keeping the property in immaculate condition. The entire property is exquisitely decorated in warm Umbrian/Tuscan style. The sunny kitchen is small but complete with dishes, utensils, pots and pans. I would like to keep their property a secret as I fear that I will never get to book here again once others find out what a wonderful, relaxing and incredible value this property affords. Most of all the owners, Chiara and Katia are warm, friendly and helpful. I will never forget my vacation of a lifetime at Podere Molinaccio!GRAZIE KATIA AND CHIARA
Three generations of our family visited in early July, and Podere Molinaccio was perfect! The grounds were peaceful and scenic, and the proximity to Panicale and other hill towns gave us a whole new world to explore and enjoy. The villa is well appointed and spotlessly clean, and Katia and Chiara couldn't have been more accommodating. They were available whenever we needed them, and they went out of their way to make it a memorable experience, especially for the kids. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation! We'll definitely recommend this FABOLOUS VILLA and the hospitality of Chiara and Katia.
In the Spring of 2014 my husband and I decided that we wanted to celebrate our 50th anniversary in Italy. We decided that Podere Molinaccio would be a perfect choice for us. As we drove up the lane to the villa we saw beautiful flowers and a groomed landscape. The villa was very clean and since there were five in our party the four bedrooms with four bathrooms were perfectly. It also had a Living/Dining and a well appointed modern kitchen with everything You need. ( dishwasher, electric oven, microwave, coffee machine, american coffee, toast maker...and more other!! )It was just a short drive to Panicale and many small other towns to explore and the view from the villa both during the day and night was spectacular. From all the windows FANTASTIC VIEW!! Katia and Chiara are fantastic Host, They would stop in frequently to make sure that we were having a wonderful time, they are such wonderful people. We would recommend the Villa to anyone that wants a wonderful holiday around the Lake Trasimeno, on the border with Tuscany.
