About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths (sleeps 12-16) Brick Ranch Home Set

We have 3 bedrooms that will sleep 12 comfortably. The master bedroom is approximately 700 square feet and has an open air bath with a large oval tub, 48 in. shower, and 48 in. dbl vanity. The # 2 bedroom is across the hall from the 2nd bathroom. The # 3 bedroom has it's own bath. The kitchen and dining area are spacious and well stocked. Outside in back there is a concrete patio with a gas grill and outdoor furniture. In the front there is a covered porch with table and chairs. The front yard is chain link fence with lots of room for small children and pets to play. We do encourage you to bring along your 4 legged friends, call for details. We have our own private fishing lake in front of the house which can be used but we do ask that you practice catch and release so everyone in the future can enjoy our lake also. The circle drive is very large for easy enter and exit and enough parking space for everyone. Also, there are 7 ramps within a two mile distance. The house even has electrical outlets for battery charging a boat.

About Cari Thompson and Thomas Thompson

My wife Cari and I are lifetime residents of Marshall co. We both attended schools here and have worked to make our living here. We are currently spending part of our time here and the other part in Gulf Shores Al. In my opinion Dorothy was right ' There's No Place Like Home '. Marshall county's the greatest!

Cari Thompson and Thomas Thompson purchased this house in 2003

Why Cari Thompson and Thomas Thompson chose Benton

We wanted to live here because of the beauty, peacefulness, and being able to be on the the lake in just a couple of minutes. There are 4 marina's and 4 public boat ramp's within a stones throw. Fuel, groceries, restaurants, and golf are convenient also.

This house and property was a nightmare and is very neglected!

  • 1 of 5

This house and property was a nightmare upon arrival. I did not receive information to gain access to the property until I was well on my way to the property and after I called the owner!

Upon entry to the house the disgusting odor of something rotting was unbearable. It took us three days to discover the 5 lb. bag of rotten/liquified potatoes covered by many pots and pans under the kitchen cabinets along with the mouse feces. It was quite obviuous that whomever maintains the property had detected the foul odor also, evidenced by the numerous dryer sheets stuck in the air conditioning vents. We found clothing from previous tenants in and under the beds along with food items such as corn cobs, candy wrappers and half eaten sandwiches. All of the exterior light bulbs were burned out and we could find no replacements.

The birdbath just outside the front door was filled with stagnant water and algae and we saw many mosquitos hatch and fly away from it. The hot tub in the back of the house was a nasty soup of disgusting filth. The touted pond in the front yard was inaccessible but in two small locations because of the overgrowth. It was also a mosquito breeding location and Deep Woods Off with Deet was no deterrent to the insects around this property. The sink in the middle bathroom had no running water to it because the fixture was broken. We had to buy towels and wash cloths because what was there was sour smelling as if ifolded and put away dirty. The fire pit was demolished. And the front porch furniture was covered in dirt.

We have photos of most of these deficiencies should anyone wish to see them. I gave the property one star because of the location only.

Came for a few weeks stayed a few months

  • 5 of 5

The house is better than pictured. The owners are very nice people they make sure you have everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. I love the area its very private but close enough to shopping, entertainment, fishing, hunting etc... so everyone in your group can be accommodated . The neighbors are the best also. Very friendly people. This house is perfect for family's with pets and kids nice pond in front yard with a area setup for a camp fire and picnic table. I just can't say enough good things about the house and owners. If I'm in this area again and need a place to stay this will be it.
