About the property

4/3 sleeps 10. 3+ acres on mountain ridge with no neighbors in sight.

After driving past the apple barn, covered bridge, and waterfall, the creek lined road reveals breathtaking, soul renewing views. Keep driving up into the sky because the High Five is nestled in the trees at an elevation of 3900 feet. You have arrived at heaven on earth! The wrap around porch, hammock and unlimited view welcomes you into our 3 floor cabin. The main floor includes the living room with gas fire place, master suite, dining and kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless appliances and granite counters. Upstairs we have an open light filled loft and a luxurious master suite with king size bed, sitting area, atelevision, and a claw foot bath tub. The walk out ground floor has two more bedrooms (queen bed and four twins), a family room with 60 inch tv, fireplace, full bath and 7 person hot tub on the deck. The bunk room has 4 twins, a cozy loft play area and tv. Each bunk is designed to be a cozy bear's lair with mini windows and reading lights. If you enjoyed forts as a kid, it is a dream come true! We are also fully stocked with games and toys for both boys and girls. Two to three families are able to enjoy each other's company and yet all have private quiet space as well.

About Tara M.

We are a family of five that LOVES the Blue Ridge Mountains and everything they have to offer. The cabin has been a dream come true and keeps giving us the most cherished memories. We wish to share the magic of High Five. Come make magical family memories too.

Tara M. purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Tara M. chose Banner Elk

We have vacationed in the area for many years. After exploring one day, we drove as high as the road would take us and came to the location where we built High Five. The air was fresh, the trees were rustling and our eyes were in disbelief of the natural beauty before us.

What makes this cabin unique

High Five is wonderfully private, beautiful piece of earth that renews my soul every time. Unique custom layout designed by owner.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our visit to your cabin. We had such a good time. It was even more beautiful than I could have imagined and I am planning on being a regular visitor to your High Five Cabin.

We loved everything about it! Location was great. Loved having to pass a little farm with lots of animals. (the kids really enjoyed that). The view and the beautifully decorated cabin was amazing! We loved your attention to detail down to the Berkshire blankets on the beds (which by the way I am getting one!)lol.

You have truly thought of every detail and it shows! Thank you for your attention to detail while working with us and your above and beyond attitude. We will be back.

Perfect place to relax!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, comfortable and very clean home! The home is basically on the top of a mountain, we couldn't see any other homes nearby while we used the hot tub and relaxed on the expansive porch. Lots of new comfortable and large outdoor furniture, that's hard to find with vacation rental homes. My son and nephews (ages 10, 8, and 5) all enjoyed the kids bunk room on the bottom floor - it connects to another bedroom through a jack-n-jill bath, perfect for when young kids need their parents at bedtime. The kitchen had more than we needed to cook our meals. Both fireplaces worked perfectly during our stay in the Springtime. Extremely easy rental process with the owner, she was awesome at reaching out to me first and making sure I arrived ok - better than a 5-star hotel! Thanks Tara, we hope to be back next year or sooner.

Comfort, great views, amazing accommodations, absolutely lovely

  • 5 of 5

Tara the owners was very responsive and we appreciate her for opening her home to us. She offered great advice about the need for a 4WD and excellent driving directions. For whatever reason gps is not able to get you to the right location so make sure you follow Tara’s instructions

Great home and great host

  • 4 of 5

We had a truly memorable experience at the High Five cabin. The home is gourgeous and has everything you could need to make your mountain vacation perfect. We were 4 adults and 4 kids and everyone had their own space to enjoy. The basement level is perfect for kids and has tons to keep them occupied. The host Tara was very responsive and helped us deal with some challenges. I would highly recommend this home to families looking for a great place with amazing views!

Fabulous Cabin with Amazing View

  • 5 of 5

We spent Christmas in this cabin with extended family and had a wonderful time. There is plenty of room for all ages to be together for quality time or for the kids to hang in the fun bunk room or hot tub. It was close enough to allow for skiing and shopping. We all had a blast in this beautiful cabin and would love to stay here again!
