About John J. GallagherJr.

My family lived blocks from the property when I was born. I grew up in the Boston area and went to schools here. This property has been in my family for over 100 years and recently I completely renovated the house. When we are not traveling we live here and love the home and the location.

John J. GallagherJr. purchased this house in 2007

Why John J. GallagherJr. chose Cambridge

The entire Boston area has so much to offer, including sightseeing, sports, beaches, boating, museums, restaurants, bars and fabulous universities. Our home is in the middle of it all. Everything is new: appliances, windows, floors, baths, tankless hot water heater. We have it all!

What makes this house unique

We designed this house with the idea of a large family or several couples being able to stay here comfortably. Everyone has their space. Once you open the front door (after parking your car in the driveway!) you immediately feel at home. Visting children at school? Coming for a big game? Have a family wedding? Need a backyard space? Dishes, pots and pans and lovely appliances are all here for your use too. But the location is the best part of this lovely home. Be one of the first to list with us.

Cubs - Red Sox Weekend Away With The Boyz! $12 ride to Fenway

  • 4 of 5

Only reason I didn't give 5 star is the toilets/bathrooms weren't clean from last people (but not a train wreck), tables/counters weren't wiped down in kitchen/FR/ towels were thrown on top of the bed in master and the 2nd floor bath shower needs a little fixing-likely a simple fix - but issue with water pressure due to the tub/shower control nob and a rusty shower caddy. Bathrooms weren't set with towels, floor mats, etc. Grill needs cleaning/service-we were going to BBQ but decided against it - we didn't want to spend our time cleaning it. Fortunately all this wasn't a big issue as it was a "boyz" trip but if my wife would've been there would have started with a bad tone - she'd of cleaned the house. Last negative - next door unit is being remodeled so a couple of us woke up to the sound of hammers & power saws Monday morning. Not the end of the world - kinda created a chuckle among us as we we're all a bit hazy from overindulgence in the Boston nightlife.

NOW FOR THE POSITIVE: Lots of space. I'd say 2 more guys could've stayed provided 2 guys share the master (one of futon & one on bed) and 2 couches we're large and more comfortable than the beds. Master is good size for town house. 3 full baths is great and comfortable deck to go hang outside) - neighborhood is older, clearly revitalizing and safe feeling. The location is perfect distance from Harvard Square and commute to Boston & Fenway. 20 minutes to airport (could be longer if traffic is an issue) 25 minutes to Seaport area. All in all - if you want a good proximity to Boston metro this place is it. There's a lot of close by restaurants - (new BBQ/smokehouse - "The Smoke Shop" 5-6 blocks east - walkable - is the money ball! Great food/drinks/Big Craft beer selection & plenty of indoor/outdoor seating). There isn't a lot of late night grub open (after midnight) - for drunken munchies - but there is an all night IHOP in Harvard Square and a pizza sub joint "Pinocchio's" that's been there forever apparently - that will surely fit a need with pizza slices but my fav was the Italian Sub-open til 1 am - 2 am on weekends.Truly a "joint". All in all this is a great place for a getaway. Don't know it sleeps 12 but if you're with couples I'd say 6. Large family with kids could swing 12 (6 adults (3 couples) - 6 kids). I'd definitely stay again with my family or for a similar event. Boston is great. I'm from Chicago and these people remind me of home. Never met the owner but enjoyed.

Wonderful Home!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I rented this beautiful Cambridge home for St. Paddy's Weekend and could not have enjoyed our stay more! The home is comfortable, lovely, and has anything you could possibly need for your stay (linens, laundry, very well-equipped kitchen). And it's location is so convenient...we were 10-15 minutes from anywhere we wanted to be. We'll happily book this location again if we ever come back.

Great house and nice owner.

  • 5 of 5

When there was construction ongoing during our stay, we contacted the owner, who was very helpful and concerned and ultimately refunded the rent for our stay. Had stayed at the house before, and liked the accommodations; we will definitely return. Highly recommend!!

Great Home! Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here while in Boston for my sons wedding and loved everything about the home! Comfortable beds, kitchen with anything you could possible need, great deck off back and parking right next to the house!! We had 5 adults stay for two nights with an additional 3 adults for the other two nights and there was plenty of room. Three full baths was an added bonus stocked with plenty of towels and even blow dryers. The owner was very responsive and went out of his way to be sure all questions were answered. This was my first VRBO rental and what a great experience.

A fantastic house for a large family gathering at 15 Union Street.

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful house in leafy Cambridge, Boston was perfect for our family gathering. It was spacious and extremely well equipped for us (8 adults) . The kitchen had loads of everything and all the three bedrooms and three bathrooms were well supplied with linen and towels. The additional sofa bed was very comfortable. A huge BBQ and decking at the back of the House was another bonus. The area felt very safe. The house has space for two cars off street parking, another one if you parked in front of the other cars. It's perfectly located within fifteen -twenty minutes walk of the T at Kendall and from there all downtown Boston is easily and quickly reached. It's near MIT and five minutes drive from Harvard. There's loads of nice places to eat at Kendall square and along Massachusetts Ave. The owner responded very quickly to our queries. I highly recommend this house for large groups and those who want easy access to downtown Boston.

Pre-wedding stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this home in mid-June as we prepared for our daughter's wedding. Our group included four adults and three young children. The location was perfect! Within walking distance to the Charles R, MIT and our daughter's apt in Cambridge. We enjoyed the walking and seeing the neighborhood. The home is as described. We appreciated the cleanliness, the well supplied kitchen, the deck and the parking space! The owner sent an email when we arrived to make sure everything was ok. Nice touch! Highly recommend!
