The house, No 25, is an authentic, typical holiday 3 storey village house. You enter directly into the dining room with an American (open) kitchen, fully equipped with a dishwasher, refrigerator and oven with a dining table seating 5. On the same floor, bedroom (sleeps 2, bed 140/190) a small balcony with a table seating 2, with a view on the Mediterranean Sea and the Cap d'Antibes.
On the first floor with large bay windows is the living room with a comfortable sofa bed, sleeps 1. There is also a table with 5 chairs where you can have a drink and enjoy the view.
On the top floor you have the master bedroom, double beds (2X90/190 cm) if you wish you can take them apart. At the same floor you find the bathroom, bathtub, toilet, water basin and a washing machine. On the terrace where there are seats you can look at the beautiful view on the Mediterranean sea and on to the Cap d'Antibes!
A free shuttle goes every 15 min to the shopping centre but the shopping center is only a 5 to 10 min walk away from Haut de Cagnes!
Very nice place, a bit noisy in the morning but the terrace makes you forget about details like that! Would recommend it in a heartbeat!
As described, the house has a great view of the mountains and the Mediterranean. We enjoyed our meals overlooking the sea and mountains and enjoying the sunsets. The house is a medieval construction renovated with all the modern comforts, including a well equipped kitchen and wi-fi. We were two adult couples, our friends used the bedroom downstairs with its own balcony, and we used the bedroom upstairs with its own terrace, where we were able to sit in the evenings to enjoy the breeze and the occasional firework display. The additional bonus is the beautiful village, Cagnes sur Mer, with its medieval streets is a lovely retreat from the busy beach towns of the French Riviera. We could enjoy a walk through the town, or going to the main plaza where in the evenings locals and tourist congregate in the restaurants, playing boules, listening to a jazz concert, or just enjoying the views. The village provides you with the feeling of a local town in France, with all the amenities of a tourist resort, including a magnificent restaurant at the Hotel Le Cagnad. The village is on a hill, but the regular free shuttle bus makes it easier to go down to the more modern section of the town, where you can find anything you might need: fresh baked baguettes and other treats (almond croissants or macaroons were our favorites), wine shops, fresh local fruits and vegetables, chicken rotisserie, fresh fish, flowers, a complete supper market, and places to sit and enjoy a great espresso. We also had the additional bonus of being able to enjoy the beginning of one of the stages of the Tour de France leaving from Cagnes sur Mer. To explore Nice, Canes, or other towns up in the mountains or along the French Riviera, you can easily access them by the intercity bus system (at the bus station just down the hill from House 25) or by train, the station is just few blocks from the bus station. For those art lovers, Cagnes sur Mer was the last home of Pierre Auguste Renoir, and while his home was under renovation during our visit, the town castle had a small exhibit with items from his studio and couple of his paintings. And to complement all, Willy-Maria is great, she was very efficient during the booking process, made all the arrangements for an expeditious check in and check out, was available to answer any questions during our stay, and when we lost our camera bag, she went out of her way to help us find it and mail it back to us!
We cannot recommend the apartment highly enough for location, view and amenities. This apartment is out of the way enough to get an authentic feel for French life and yet convenient to shops, bakeries, and public transport. The restaurants a few minutes walk up the hill offer variety at a good price. Dining at the castle watching the locals playing Boule looking towards the Mediterranean was a favourite. You really don't need a car to get around, but if you have one there is a bit of a walk to where you can park. 1 euro will get you to Nice, Cannes and the Alps on the bus.
The apartment is appointed in what I would call a 'rustic' style but that was very much in keeping with the village, and we were very comfortable and had everything we needed.
Willy-Maria was an excellent host and could not have been more helpful.
We cannot recommend this apartment highly enough.
BTW. The view is better than the pictures.
We loved our stay in this beautiful place very much - the house is charming with it's three floors and the terrace with the view over the sea. It was very hot during out stay, but nevertheless we went up and down by foot. Supermarket, bakery, bus stop - everything can be reached within 10 minutes by foot. The village with it's castle and the square with restaurants are lovely. I would recommend this place to everyone. The house is very clean and the kitchen well equipped, a pleasant stay is guaranteed by Willy-Maria.
The hill top village of Haut de Cagnes is the old and historical part of Cagnes-sur-Mer, a seaside town and former fishing village between Nice Airport and Antibes. While Haut de Cagnes is almost untouched by modern life, Cagnes-sur-Mer has everything you need, including one of the best-covered Provencal markets of the Côte d´Azur. From Cagnes-sur-Mer, you can also reach easily Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Grasse and St Paul de Vence via a network of local buses (1,50 euros) and trains.
The beach is a 5 min car or bus ride away. On the other side of the village, the snow-clad Provencal mountains are within easy reach. The area is full of museums, galleries and wonderful restaurants (one with à Guide Michelin Star). Visitors often find Haut de Cagnes a magical place, full of ambiance and history!
