Downtown Apartment Rental Photos and Description

1 bedroom apartment in a nicely remodeled 1900's Victorian Home.

Our 2-unit Victorian home and was built in 1906. The lower unit is a completely separate 1 bedroom unit. We’ve done extensive work on the home and land. It is a double sized lot so half of the land is landscaped with waterfall and pond with fish, over 15 varieties of Hawaiian and Polynesian plants and an expansive yard. Please note because of the serious drought we have discontinued watering the lawn. All other plants are watered by recycled or catchment water. It is a 2 unit home, we live above and Halekipa (the guest home) is on the first level. Our 1 bedroom unit features Bamboo wood floors, carpet in the bedroom, washer and dryer in unit, updated appliances, full size bed and pull out couch in living. It can comfortably fit 4. There are extra pillows, blankets, sheets and towels for you also. We also have a few things for children (boys and girls sleeping bags and a few games…still adding on to this. The home is equipped with High speed WIFI and Cable T.V. (Astound) as well. This property also dubs as the Kaululehua Hawaiian Cultural Center. You’ll notice a dance studio and library on the land as well. Once a week there are classes (dance) and once a month classes on cultural arts/crafts (weaving and lei making). Our home was awarded the Beautification award for South San Francisco in 2011 for the most beautiful Home in South San Francisco!

We are located in downtown South San Francisco (SSF) all restaurants are walking distance (Starbucks, Pete’s, Subway, multiple Chinese and Mexican, Thai, Vietnamese , Korean, Italian, Argentinian, American, Japanese and more). There are a few grocery, liquor and drug stores within a block. Some of our favorite restaurants: For Breakfast – Cable Car Café (nothing fancy, just quick good ole fashioned breakfast), For Lunch - La Morena (best al pastor nachos, tacos and plates), For Dinner - Izanami (great specials, brand new and nice atmosphere, some killer Ramen!). If you’ve never had See’s candy, the factory is down the street you might want to go in for samples ;-)

Everything you could possibly need is within 1 mile (drug stores, department stores, chain restaurants etc..) Most people stay at our place go site seeing. There is 1 car parking designated for our guest but if you don’t drive bus is within 1 block, Train (Cal. Train) is 4 blocks, Bart is 10 blocks away. All of these can take you somewhere interesting. Downtown San Francisco is about 10 minutes by car. Besides San Francisco you should make time to explore our coast especially downtown Pacifica and cruise along famous highway 1 to visit downtown Half Moon Bay!

Why Kawika Alfiche & Kia`i Maurille chose San Fernando

We fell in love with this property when we first saw it. Because it is located on a double wide lot, we were amazed with the space and all the potential it offered. Over the years, we lovingly worked on landscaping by adding trees, plants, & foliage most of which are native to Hawaii. We continued by adding a pond & waterfall and worked on improving the dwellings including our dance studio located on back of the premises.

What makes this apartment unique

We love beautiful Victorians because they have so much character and this home was exactly what we were looking for when we made our move to the Peninsula. Our goal was to bring a piece of Hawaii to this land, to grow native plants, and have a place to continue our Cultural work. We love the fact that this area where our home is located is so convenient to shopping, restaurants, shopping malls, theaters, and all the specialty shops we could ever need.

During a recent visit to San Francisco we were fortunate to find this beautiful apartment.The property is lovely - lush with plants and trees, inside was decorated beautifully, Spacious and included everything we needed.We had easy access to our car which could be hard to find in the city. Within the walking distance surrounding the place we found a variety of restaurants and shops. The owners of were helpful and hospitable making us feel welcome. I will definitely stay here again.

A Hidden Gem in South SF!!

My two girls (ages 12 and 13) and I were delighted with this tucked-away gem!! Perfect size for 2-4 people. Off-street parking was a definite plus. Easy freeway access to all around the Bay Area. Washer and dryer were an unexpected bonus after being baptized by a passing sea gull down at the Wharf!! Highly recommended; would stay here again!! Mahalo!!

Nice place a few minutes away from San Francisco

We really enjoyed our stay , we were there for a little bit more than a week. We had everything we needed even beach towels! The place was very clean, we had a parking space and it was easy to go to San Francisco, to the airport or to the south (Santa Cruz, Montery, etc) Laroche Family, Laval, Qc, Canada

Very nice location to stay in San Francisco Bay

Perfect place for my family to spent 4 nights in the Bay area. The pullout bed was plenty big for our kids (ages 9 and 6). The property was nice and clean. The place is wonderfully decorated, the kitchen is equipped with all we needed for breakfast and dinner before and after we heading into the city. It took about 25 minutes to reach downtown.

convenient location but...

This apt was located conveniently to downtown South San Francisco and easy access to San Francisco.Our problem with the place was cleanliness.

The towels in the bathroom had something black in them, the microwave had not been cleaned, there were stains on the rug in the main area. I mentioned this to the owner and he said that he would look into it and after review agreed that the cleaning could be better. But the thing that surprised me the most was the black "gunk" along the gray plastic rubber in the washing machine. I noticed in the morning we were leaving (after I washed some clothes) and did not have a change to show the owner. The place could be perfect - just needs a deep cleaning!!! The owner was responsive to our emails when the cable box no longer worked.

Owner's Response: Hi there - to all who are reading this review please be assured our place is CLEAN. The 2 items that were a problem was 1) the microwave wasn't cleaned by our cleaner which was addressed and 2) black gunk in the rubber part of the washing machine??? really???. Our place is a 1906 refurbished Victorian set on a large property with a beautiful waterfall and wonderfully landscaped yard. I'm not sure these guests should stay in vacation rentals, these are not brand new untouched model units, these are our homes which take pride in. It's too bad because they seemed like nice guests but obviously not easy to please. I wouldn't recommend other owners to take these guests in for fear of receiving a low rating.. which can greatly affect our business as Home Owners. Please take the time to read the other ratings below this one and thanks for taking the time to read this.

Wonderful place to stay!

This location is perfect for us to stay at to visit our family in South San Francisco. The facilities are well kept and has everything that we need to make our stay enjoyable. Communications with the owners were always handled promptly and efficiently. We hope to stay here again as soon as the next opportunity presents itself.

Great place

We stayed here when we came down to San Francisco for the Super Bowl. It was a great place to stay. It was exactly like the pictures, cute and clean. We loved the beautiful garden area right outside our door. It had everything that we needed in the kitchen. Very comfortable bed. There were 4 of us for part of the time and there was plenty of room. It was a great location for us. We had access to a parking spot, which was great. Easy access to the freeways and the Bart. Cute neighborhood. Very quiet. Some good restaurants within walking distance. We would definitely stay here again if we come down that way.

Also near by is our towns large park (Orange Park) which has a public swimming pool, basketball/Tennis and Baseball and many Picnic spots.

We are 10 minutes to downtown San Francisco via freeway.
