Conveniently located close to some of the best area attractions, Garden City Beach is directly south of Surfside Beach and ends on a peninsula at the mouth of Murrells Inlet. One of the most renowned attractions in Garden City Beach is the Pier at Garden City. Other attractions include Marlin Quay Marina, Gulf Stream Cafe, Original Sam's Corner, and Sara J's Seafood Restaurant.

Just south of Garden City Beach is Murrells Inlet, a seaside community that is considered to be the "Seafood Capital of South Carolina", but is also home to some of the nation's best golf courses. Once primarily a fishing village, the town is best known for the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, a half-mile long boardwalk overlooking a pristine salt marsh, and the many award-winning seafood and barbecue restaurants along Highway 17 Business in the central business district.

Brookgreen Gardens, a sculpture garden and wildlife preserve built on four former rice plantations, is located slightly south of Murrells Inlet. It features several themed gardens with American figurative sculptures placed in them, trails through several nature reserve ecosystems and the Lowcountry Zoo.

If you're looking for places to shop, Inlet Square Mall, The Market Common, Coastal Grand, Myrtle Beach Mall, Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing, two Tanger shopping outlets, countless strip-malls, and many more shopping facilities are all within an easy drive from Garden City Beach. Looking for some entertainment, take in a show at Alabama Theater, Medieval Times, The Carolina Opry, Pirates Voyage, and Legends in Concert. And don't forget about Ripley's Aquarium, Alligator Adventure, Hard Rock Cafe, Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, and The Pavilion Nostalgia Park.

Other points of interest close by include the waterfront community of Georgetown, the third oldest city in South Carolina and second largest seaport in South Carolina, and historic Conway with its downtown Riverwalk area nestled on the banks of the Waccamaw River. Both towns include fine dining, shopping, and historic sites.

Surfside Beach, Garden City Beach and Murrells Inlet are all close to Waccamaw Hospital and several urgent care facilities.

Whatever your desire, whatever your need, the south strand offers a little something on everyone's to-do list. We have a variety of restaurants, retail stores, miniature golf, entertainment venues, charter fishing, water sports... and of course, nothing but relaxation.

Reviewer Comments:

Beautiful Weather, even if we had a few days of afternoon rain. Plenty of time to sit on the porch and enjoy the peace and quiet. Very comfortable house with beach close and pool closer. Enjoyed seeing the neighbors in the next house for the 12th year in a row. Think we will do it again next year!

Reviewer Comments:

We loved the location and how the house fit our family (10). Beds were comfortable; towels, sheets were provided at no extra charge and enjoyed the pool, especially the grandkids. The only thing we noticed was how the house was not maintained very well. Carpet was stained and needed replaced, garage was not clean and the tables and chairs down there were dirty. We didn't use this area other than going to pool and parking one car. The two grills there were in bad shape so we bought one to use. Our family had a great time especially eating at Murrells Inlet, going to Alligator Adventure, and sight seeing the area. Don't waste your money on Ripleys Sea Aquarium and if you do go don't go on a rainy day, Everyone has same idea...shoulder to shoulder people and crying children. Lol Over all we had a great time!

Reviewer Comments:

We've been making an almost-annual trip to this area for the past 25 years and this beach rental is one of the best we've stayed in. We had four adults along with me and my husband and everyone had a large comfortable room and private bath (except one bath was shared between two rooms). The wi-fi was a definite plus and should be a standard amenity in EVERY rental. We had a very short walk to the Gulfstream Café and to the marina where we discovered that you can take a water taxi across the marsh to the Marshwalk (bars, restaurants and live music) in Murrells Inlet. You need to call earlier in the day to arrange it. They start at 5:30pm and the last pick up is at 11pm ($16/pp roundtrip) We had a great time and love the location of this house! My only complaint would be that the rugs in most bedrooms were stained and the hardwood floors(which are beautiful!)were not clean and I had to clean them myself.

Reviewer Comments:

This home is in a good location and the overall stay was great. This could be a terrific home with updating and a good cleaning. Our group had two small children. It was rather disappointing to walk in to the smell of mildew throughout the house. The third floor bedroom had black mold on the bathroom ceiling and smelled of mildew. Throughout the home there are cobwebs on the walls, dusty ceiling fans, a smoke alarm hanging by its wires from the ceiling and moldy shower curtain. The kitchen was rather disappointing as there was not sufficient silverware for the 6 of us let alone a home which sleeps 18 people. The frying pans and cooking utensils are in poor condition. There are plenty of dishes. Our group chose to eat out most nights as it was not easy to cook anything. We purchased a Swifter to clean the living area/hardwood floors as there was so much sand and dirt on the floors, the vacuum cleaner barely works and it just throws dirt everywhere.

Reviewer Comments:

This rental is much more narrow of a house than the others on the block as ell as being 3 stories tall. It shakes constantly. Most noticeable when someone is climbing the stairs, but also when there are thunderstorms. Although I am sure it is structurally sound, it is rather unnerving to steel the shaking. This house was also dirty when we checked in and the sign that said "if you are not satisfied with check-in condition, call us within one hour" was buried in the corner of the kitchen counter and was discovered while we were cleaning this house. All the mattresses need replacing save one, as they are hard and uncomfortable. All in all, this house is in a great location, but needs quite a bit of attention to command it's PREMIUM price tag.
