Follow the rock path leading to the front porch, which will quickly become your favorite place to sip your evening cocktail while taking in the marvelous sunset views of Sugar and Beech Mountain. After admiring the views, step into your spacious abode to make yourself at home in 3,400 square feet of fully decorated, tastefully furnished living space.
The interior features a combination of cozy and antique, with granite and marble in the bathrooms, hardwood floors, stone and wood trim, plus all the modern amenities that you’d expect in a high-end rental. Stay up to date on your favorite shows with the 5 cable TVs (2 of which are Smart TVs), and enjoy wireless internet access, the convenience of a washer and dryer, ceiling fans in every room, unlimited hot water via new on-demand system, gas grill, and a fully accessorized kitchen.
The lovely historic home was tastefully restored in 2008, and then expanded with a custom new addition, which include the huge private master suite with a bathroom, jacuzzi, fireplace and access to the front deck and patio. A lower level with large playroom, wet bar, fireplace, and ½ bath was also part of the addition.
The main floor of the original residence includes a den with a wood stove, dining room, country kitchen and a full bath. Upstairs are 4 bedrooms (a queen-sized bed, full-sized bed, full-sized bed and twin-sized bed, a twin-over-twin bunk bed, and a full-sized bed), and 2 full baths (1 with a clawfoot tub and shower).
One of the highlights of this home is the large outdoor stone patio, complete with numerous chairs and tables, a gas grill, and spectacular mountain views. Enjoy a cookout, wine and dine with your travel companions, and roast marshmallows in the fire pit while marveling at the lights of Beech Mountain resort.

Although you’ll find it easy to spend most of your time relaxing at your private woodland abode, you’ll still definitely want to venture out to explore the surrounding areas of this ideally-located home.
Centrally located near endless activities, this private enclave is just a short 5-minute walk from the quaint mountain town of Banner Elk. Browse through the town’s unique shops and dine out at one of the local restaurants. In the town, there is also a park on the river with a dog walk trail, as well as a scenic pond. The small, private, scenic college, Lees McRae is also in Banner Elk and features beautiful architecture and history.
Hike from the house down the hill to fly fish for wild trout in the Elk River, or hop on your mountain bike and take a long ride to some of the best trails in North Carolina.
Winter is the perfect time for skiing, and this house is just 10 minutes from the 2 largest ski resorts in the area! Visit Beech and Sugar Mountain, which not only offer great slopes, but also fantastic hiking and mountain biking during the summertime.
For more outdoor adventures, there are a number of outfitters in Banner Elk and other nearby areas that arrange whitewater rafting trips, fishing, and other activities.
Grandfather Mountain, the second highest mountain east of the Mississippi is also just about 20 minutes away, and has many things to offer, including hiking trails, a wildlife habitat, and the "swinging bridge" with 100 mile views.
The Blue Ridge Parkway, one of the most scenic roads in the US, is also within 30 minutes of Banner Elk. Along with splendid views, many hiking and biking trails and fishing are also accessible from the Parkway.
There are also some excellent public golf courses in the area, tennis, and the Avery County YMCA is open to the public for just 5 dollars a day. Gem mining and numerous zip line places are also big attractions and a great way to see the Blue Ridge Mountains from a different perspective.
