Overview

Sugarloaf House Rental Photos and Description

2.5 Bedrooms, 1.5 Bath on the Water with Mountain Views

This charming, quiet, tastefully decorated house is lovingly called, 'The Bungalow' as it was named by the owner's parents. It is currently available only in the summer and fall months (beginning of June until Columbus Day weekend). It is a bi-level, open floor plan retreat, with bedrooms on the first floor and living/dining/kitchen areas on the top floor. The main floor is flanked by 2 decks and is kept bright by the wall of windows with views to the large front lawn and gorgeous water beyond. This vacation house is perfect for a family of up to 5, or is a romantic, spacious hideaway for a couple. Wake up to a peaceful view of the pond from the master bedroom, have coffee in the sun on the deck or dock, and go for a refreshing swim or paddle in one of our kayaks as part of your daily routine. The cozy town of Kingfield with its quaint shops, galleries, and restaurants, including the renowned Orange Cat Cafe is minutes down the road. Or, head North to the Sugarloaf Mountain area (14 miles) for great hiking, biking, zip lining, and golfing.

About Chelcey Dunham

Our family has grown up in the Kingfield area, and currently resides there. We have always had family get together at the Bungalow, and continue to use and maintain it for ourselves when not in use by vacationers.

Chelcey Dunham purchased this house in 1993

Why Chelcey Dunham chose Sugarloaf

The Bungalow was a generous gift from our parents, who had always owned property on Tufts pond, including the property just down the way.

What makes this house unique

Have your lunch or dinner in the cool shade of the Gazebo by the water, use one of the onsight kayaks and go for a relaxing paddle, bathe in the sun, or cozy up on one of the plush couches with a book (glancing up at the view once and a while!)...whatever you do during your vacation week, this lovely spot will surely rejuvenate you and your soul.

Quiet, Peaceful, the Perfect Getaway

  • 4 of 5

We were immediately impressed by the bungalow and surrounding area. The layout and view from the living area was perfect. Also loved that the sleeping area was on the bottom floor. Although it rained our first day, we enjoyed reading magazines, taking a nap or two, and playing cards. Day 2 was beautiful. We went kayaking around the entire pond. Love the fact that there is very little activity and no motor boats. My husband and daughter went to Sugarloaf to zipline for the first time. The bungalow is fully equipped and clean. It could use some updating, particularly with bedding. The best part was coffee on the deck, listening to the loons. Our dog Harlee probably enjoyed herself the most. A perfect place for her and she got the full attention of the entire family. Doesn't get any better. I would recommend this to anyone who needs to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. It was a little too quiet for our 21 year old daughter, but perfect for my husband and I.

Beautiful inside and out

  • 5 of 5

We were very thankful that the owners shared their house with us! This was an awesome home with a fantastic location and view. Set at the end of a dirt road, we enjoyed the peace and quiet as did our 2 dogs. We liked that there were only kayaks and canoes on the water, no motor boats that we saw to disturb the peace. The loons were a beautiful and constant sight, and the owl each night definitely added to our delight. The house was spotless, beds comfortable, and everything you could need was there. The outside deck was equally comfortable as was the screened cabana down on the shore. We were very pleased with our 3 nights there.

Great place to recharge

  • 5 of 5

We had a very relaxing week at the bungalow with our dog. She went on her very first kayak trip and loved it. The place is just what we wanted, quiet, relaxing and peaceful. The views from the deck and the dock were awesome, as were the loons with their little babies. Even got to see a meteor shower early in the morning from the deck, it was spectacular. It was nice having a lawn so we could play yard games and see a great view of the pond. Suzanne was very nice and accommodating, and you have to go to the Orange Cat Cafe for a great breakfast. Don't forget the apple fritters and cinnamon rolls! We hope to be back in the future.

Will be back

  • 5 of 5

We liked it so much last year, we came back and were not disappointed!

Camp is clean and comfortable with a well stocked kitchen and comfy bed. The pond is idyllic with beautiful views and the loons. It is not a successful western Maine camp stay until you hear loons calling and these loons love to talk!

We came for the trail biking at the Sugarloaf outdoor center, which was amazing. Everyone looked forward to the Orange Cat Cafe in the morning. Not a better vibe (or food) anywhere, truly. Very fun. The addition of a consignment store just up the stairs was icing on the cake! Could it be any better? No way! :)

Thanks to Chelcey for such a great trip!

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome !!!

  • 5 of 5

For the 2nd year in a row "The Bungalow" on Tufts Pond continues to be the quintessential Maine getaway. Pristine pond, loons, and kayaks... not to mention the best equipped kitchen in any "camp" we've ever stayed. And when you need more than peace and quiet, the Town of Kingfield is minutes away with art galleries, restaurants, and cafes like the Orange Cat which is a must visit. Sugarloaf Mountain with Segways, Ziplines and chairlift rides is 20 minutes away... Thank you again for a great Maine week.

Tranquil Paradise !

  • 5 of 5

The pictures show this bungalow exactly as you will find it . The view is so serene you will find it hard to do anything but sit on the deck and gaze . If you can tear yourself away there is plenty to do in the area , from Kingfield to Sugarloaf and Rangeley . The Loons on the Pond are a daily site . The Orange Cat in Kingfield is a must to eat at . Plenty of art shops , the Kingfield Historical House and the famous Wire Bridge in New Portland are also a must to visit . The place is very well equipped for all your needs . We just loved it and look forward to staying there again .
