About the property

Our romantic hideaway lies in absolute silence and peacefulness. You can still feel a trace of the 'wild west' out on this beautiful and totally unspoiled 42 acres of private property. Nobody and nothing is going to disturb you here. It is a pretty 1200 square foot cedar wood cabin with a fantastic view and an inground pool. There is lots of wildlife to see. Hummingbirds, armadillos and possums come right up to the house, also whitetail dear, bobcats, raccoons, turkeys, coyotes, vultures etc. There is also a private small lake/pond. In springtime everything is covered with wildflowers. This is also the blooming time of the cactus. The house is a cozy place, western style with 2 porches, 2 bedrooms, nice kitchen and fireplace. Enjoy breathtaking sunsets and absolute relaxation with your partner or family. Lots of things to do also for kids are nearby. Wichita Falls only ½ hour away (approx. 90.000 pop.), Golf, horseback riding, water sport and boat rental. Many large lakes close by.

Activities: Rodeos, Country Western music and festivals, Golf, horse back riding in the wilderness, waterski, rent a jet ski or any other boat on one of the many lakes, swimming, canoeing on the Brazos river, fishing, antique shops and flea markets, hiking or take a tour in your car in the Wichita mountains in nearby Oklahoma, there you could see bison, elk, or watch the funny prairie dogs in their 'prairiedog town'. Museums about settling Texas, visit Forts from the 19th century, go to a theatre performance or concert, Cowboy pubs or discotheques, eat Texas barbecue in one of the barbecue places in W.F or Mexican dining. Cook something tasty from the Texas cookbook in the house or get a rib eye or T-bone steak from the excellent butcher in Windthorst ('Luis') put it on our grill and enjoy a bottle of Texas red or a Lonestar beer. Sit in the evening by the pool or on the porch and enjoy the evening listening to the sounds of the coming night. Look at the huge sky count shooting stars and dream.

Service: Introduction of the house the pool and facilities and handover of the keys by local caretaker.

Nature: Hiking or taking a walk on the property is a must. Attention, you could even get lost (for a while). Many butterflies, owls, turkeys, cardinals and many many more. You’ll see vultures glide above the house in the late mornings, many small birds, raccoons. Depending on the season you can hear coyotes howl or bark at night, whitetail dear, bobcats, armardillos, very cute they’ll come right up to the porch digging for roots. Possums (many visits to the porch lately documented), skunks, ringtails, squirrels and sometimes a fairly tame rabbit. Roadrunners, wild pigs near the westfork river which is fairly close but not on our property, and the hummingbirds. Breathtaking wildflowers in April/May that cover everything and at the same time the cactus bloom.

There is an alarm system that had been integrated into the house when we had it built which probably wasn`t necessary at all. There are ceiling fans and of course a modern air condition/heating system. The house has large windows which is not so common in this part of the world, to enjoy the view. Good insulation. A nice fireplace, winter guests will be provided with firewood. Cosy atmosphere and rustic decor 'western style'. Nobody and nothing is going to bother you out here. Still it is only a relatively short drive into the city. With many possibilities for activities in the 'neighbourhood'. Fantastic location of the house with wonderful view in the middle of nature. Inground swimming pool with diving board and underwater light. 2 porches. A colibri feeder so you can enjoy watching the colibris while you are out on the porch. Gas grill on the porch. Toaster and Coffemachine in the kitchen.

A perfect spot to get away.

We made our second visit to this secluded haven last August. Other than the addition of the perfectly placed deck nothing has changed - the same clean, well maintained property, the nice pool, and the escape from hustle and bustle. What a wonderful place to enjoy the natural surroundings, billions of stars at night, the wildlife, the quiet, and simply decompress. And yet an easy drive from the DFW metroplex!

This is a beautiful home, nicely equipped, very well kept and clean. The local caretakers met us as promised. It was beyond our expectations. From the fresh air to the clear skies and stars at night (you can see the Milky Way) it was the most relaxing vacation we've had in years.

Toller Urlaub in wunderschöner Natur

  • 5 of 5

(u.A ein NBA Basketball-Spiel )
