Live your Rocky Mountain high at 8900 feet, while overlooking spectacular views of the Continental Divide. This beautiful, new mountain home has everything you need, and is in the perfect location to enjoy all of the best that Colorado has to offer. Take in the amazing sunsets from the stone ringed campfire, hot tub, or from the huge picture windows, while relaxing on the sofa. Enjoy the snow-capped views, while dining next to the crackling fireplace. Count the shooting stars under a clear night sky. Spot native wildlife including hummingbirds, chipmunks, deer, and an occasional elk. Enjoy movie night with the 60 inch HD flat screen TV and blu-ray player. (Please note- there is NO cable or ability to get Netflix, etc. There is a small collection of DVDs at the house and rental movies in Nederland.) This mountain getaway is perfect in any season. Escape the summer heat to the bug-free, cool mountain air, or soak up the tranquil winter beauty of blanketing snow.

This really is an ideal location to enjoy so many experiences. You can go right out the front door to hike or bike around this mountain neighborhood and enjoy picturesque views, or take a short, scenic drive to explore an endless variety of activities. This is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts who like hiking, biking, fishing, skiing, snowshoeing, rafting, kayaking and horseback riding. Those seeking entertainment or wanting to experience the cultural vibe will enjoy the shopping and the constant variety of live music and street festivals in Nederland and Boulder, or a concert at the world famous Red Rocks Amphitheater.

---How far to Denver Airport?

65 miles/ 1.5 hours

---How far to the nearest grocery store/gas station/restaurant choices?

Nederland 8 miles/ 15 minutes

---How far to Boulder?

20 miles/ 45 minutes

---How far to Rocky Mountain National Park?

60 miles/ 1.5 hours

---How far to Golden Gate State Park?

6 miles/15 minutes

---How far away are the neighbors?

The house looks pretty much straight out towards the mountains. If you stand outside in front of the house, you can see 2 homes farther down the mountain about 150 yards. One is occupied full time, and the other is a vacation home. From next to the side of the house, there is a small A frame that is used a few times per year. There is a house further up the mountain that can be partially seen, depending on where you are standing outside. We have a fairly long drive, and it feels private.

---Can I bring my dog?

You are welcome to bring an extremely well behaved dog that you clean up after. There is a pooper scooper outside that can be used to toss pet waste into the woods, off the main part of the property. We do not add a pet charge.

---Will it snow?

Yes. Sometimes way more than other times.

---Does the house have air conditioning?

No. See question above.

---How are the driving conditions?

It depends on the weather. Our neighborhood has hard packed dirt roads, and we have a paved driveway. One mile of the drive up the mountain is fairly steep. A 4WD is definitely needed in winter November-March, but we can have large dumps of snow as early as October and as late as May. Early and late snow melts fast and is easily plowed, but can cause travel delays.

---Does the house have cable, Netflix, TV plug in for more watching options....?

No. Colorado has endless, amazing outdoor options, and we love to wear ourselves out during the day, disconnect from all of the electronics, and enjoy the hot tub, fireplace or fire pit, grilling out, and playing games in the evening. There is a large TV and DVD player for an occasional movie night.

---Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes, but we have the basic package with limited data, so plenty for researching local trails, checking email, etc. but not enough for video streaming/movie watching. Again, we go there to unplug.

PLEASE NOTE- Important disclaimers for winter time rentals:

- The hot tub is open all year, but may require shoveling (snow shovel provided) from November through April to access it. It is located about 25 feet from the house.

-Winter months absolutely require a 4WD, high clearance vehicle.

-It is possible for the house to get snowed in. If is at 9000 feet and gets over 300 inches of snowfall. If the county closes the main access road, we will refund your payment, or you may be able to delay your arrival depending on the weather and our calendar.

-We are located only 13 miles from Eldora Ski Mountain!

Why John or Pamela Sackmann chose Black Hawk

We fell in love with this area of Colorado while visiting in the summer of 2008, and after a few years of searching, found this home. There is so much to do here, that even though we visit as often as possible, there is still much to explore!

What makes this house unique

The views from the home are just beautiful. Even though there are so many activities to choose from, we also love just relaxing at the house and enjoying the mountains.

Great location to unplug.

  • 5 of 5

The location was the amazing. The twists and turns up to the location were incredible. DO NOT COME HERE if you can’t stand being away from your cellphone. There is zero cellphone service here and the WiFi is not sufficient for much cellphone use. However, that’s the best part about this house! Leave your electronics behind and enjoy the outdoors. The hot tub was awesome! The only thing that didn’t work out in our favor was that there was no use of a washer or dryer. Other than that, athe house was in the perfect location for us to be about 30 minutes from the nearest golf course which is what we came to Colorado for.

Clean, cozy and very comfortable. Such a beautiful place with everything that we needed

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I traveled with two children, ages five and 12 and our dog. We had plenty to do in the evenings with games and movies that were available. Thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub on a snowy night. Fell in love with Nederland. I would highly recommend this place.

Wonderful house with a beautiful view!

  • 5 of 5

A great first experience with VRBO. The hosts information was wonderful, the house had (almost) everything that we needed, and provided a wonderful retreat fro spring break for our family of four and our dog. It snowed quite a bit, which was wonderful for our winter loving kids. The road next to the house made a wonderful sledding hill! Thank you so much for sharing!

P.S. It would be nice to have a few extra towels for the hot tub, or to include in the information to bring extras. For a family of four we had to make choices between a dry towel for the hot tub or for a shower. Also, thank you for the carbon monoxide detector. Such a comfort after news of current events. The home was lovely!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this house! The views were amazing, the hot tub was awesome, just what these 40

somethings needed after skiing Eldora. It was nice to check out for a few days and relax in front of the fireplace.

Boulder, CO

Relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

This cabin offers a beautiful setting, wonderful views and is quiet. That's what we were looking for and that's what we got. Hot tub was a plus and my little girl loved the bunk beds. Stocked kitchen with all appliances and dishes and nice comfortable beds. If you are looking to get away a bit but still want access to areas like Ned and Boulder, this is a great choice. We have no complaints and we really had an enjoyable weekend. Thanks!
