The kitchen is fully stocked with all the amenities to prepare a marvelous home cooked meal. There is ample dishware and silverware, along with any cookware that you might need. Electrical appliances are provided including, but not limited to, an electric skillet, blender, crock pot, 12 cup coffee pot and a coffee grinder for the gourmet coffee types! We also try to provide a variety of seasonings. The dining room table has seating for 6 and bar seats 2 with bar stools. If it is dining out that you desire, the cabin is within minutes of multiple fast food or fine dining restaurants. The living room is wonderfully cozy with a couch and loveseat that recline and a large Grandma's chair. You can curl up with a good book in front of the propane stove or watch a movie on the flat screen television with Dish Network or the DVD player.

The loft also has a television viewing area with a flat screen television with Dish Network and a VCR/DVD player. The couch and loveseat provide ample room for the kids to watch a movie of their own. We have provided a few small toys, lots of board games for the family and you can choose from a wide variety of books.

Laundry area has a smaller washer and dryer with all of your laundry soap, bleach and fabric softeners provided.

Pets are welcome - there is an area provided in the corner of the dining area to contain your pet if needed. We ask that no pets be left unattended in the cabin.

The wrap around deck provides room for sitting and enjoying the mountain air and wildlife with a barbeque grill and fire pit. While the adults relax there is a swing set for the kids to entertain themselves (summer only).

Cell phones work very well at the cabin. Internet access and WIFI is available at all times.

Arrive at any time, for your convenience, we have Remote Lock for our guests - you will get your own personal code to access the cabin without a tedious check-in!

Moose Crossing is open year around and is conveniently located in a central location. Your vacation home base is within minutes of some of the area's best activities. Just down the road is a public boat launch for Henry's Lake, the ice fishing on Henry's Lake is amazing with some record fish being pulled from its depths. Head south on Highway 20 to visit Mesa Falls, Johnny Sack Cabin at Big Springs or Sawtelle Peak. Enjoy amazing fly fishing on Henry's Fork of the Snake River or Madison River. There is a live dinner theater at Mack’s Inn Playhouse. Enjoy float trips down the river, hiking trails, horseback riding and even a round of golf at Island Park Village Resort. Take the time to hike Harriman State Park and enjoy nature’s wonders. This is a snowmobiler’s paradise with some of the area’s best snowmobiling accessible right from the cabin's front door; there is something for every level of snowmobiler. Enjoy over 500 miles of trail riding or within minutes you can boon-docking in some of the best over the hood powder back country riding or steep climbing that you can imagine.

During the winter, we keep the driveway plowed and attempt to keep the walkways cleared, especially on the day of your arrival. The driveway has ample room for one large trailer and 2 - 3 trucks OR 2 smaller snowmobile trailers and pickups. If your party has more than that there is a large parking area less than 3/4 of a mile down the road from the cabin.

When the snow is gone and spring and summer arrives, the area is noted for its wildlife with a moose actually being caught on photos right in the backyard. You might see fox, elk or deer and there is always a beautiful bird to be seen on a walk in the wooded area right across from the cabin.

This is a NON-SMOKING cabin. We are also under a county ordinance for short term rentals and ask that our guests please stay in compliance for their safety and health; we ask that you stay within capacity limits, read the burn ordinance and please be neighborly.

About Shawna

As you can see from the photo that our family is avid snowmobile fans. I grew up in Montana and my husband grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho, where our son was born. We live in Twin Falls, Idaho where we farm and have a custom baling business. Our summers are very full, so we take the time to enjoy every snowflake that falls from the sky!

Shawna purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Shawna chose Island Park

We had a dream! We have wanted a cabin in this area for years as we have been coming here every winter for 13 years to enjoy the snow. We started coming here when we could still ride our mountain sleds into Yellowstone National Park. It seems that whenever we had a spare few days (even in the summer) we would load in the car and run up here to enjoy Yellowstone National Park, Virginia City or just to relax with friends. Some of our fondest memories as a family are on snowmobiles in these mountains. My dad even looked at purchasing property in Island Park back when I was 8 years old. We are truly blessed to live 4 hours from Island Park and we consider this beautiful cabin our retirement home! We can't hardly wait to retire!

What makes this cabin unique

We fell in love with this cabin and purchased it for the great loft - the big open feeling just made us feel so at home that we had to have it! It is cozy with the log walls and propane stove. The property sits on 3 lots so there is a lot of room to play outside! All of the pine trees and aspens on the property make this cabin very secluded. It was also a great bonus that it sits directly on the trails leading to some of the greatest mountain snowmobiling in the area. Our friends and family that don't snowmobile can't wait for summer so that they might enjoy the benefits of Henrys Lake, Madison River and Yellowstone National Park! I personally love Big Springs where you can feed the fish and sometimes see a moose just standing in the river. We are avid outdoors people and with all of the big windows, even when you are in the cabin you can bring the outdoors right inside with you. I love to sit early in the morning in front of the fire, sipping coffee and looking out at the beautiful snow drifts, it just makes my day!

Fantastic Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Moose Crossing was the Icing on the cake of our fantastic vacation. Floor plan and furnishings were perfect for our family. My wife and I had our own bedrooms downstairs, while our son, his wife and two girls had the whole upstairs, which was like their own apartment, with three queen beds, open loft, and their own TV and lounge area. Cabin is perfectly located outside of Yellowstone off HWY 20, easy in and out, especially during winter months. Kitchen was spacious with everything we needed, and living room was cozy and comfortable, especially with fireplace.

We will definitely be back again with our other kids and their kids!

Thank you Shawna!!!

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect for our trip to Yellowstone! Very cozy & furniture & beds are very comfortable. We got unexpected snow which stopped us from entering the park a couple of days, so we were glad to have such a great place to relax.

Thanks, Shawna & Bret!

Perfect location for Yellowstone. Very quite and private. Fantastic loft area. Well equipped kitchen

  • 5 of 5

Moose crossing is in an ideal location for visiting Yellowstone. About 15-20 minutes to West Yellowstone. We stayed there to get away from crowds. Very comfortable. Quiet and private location. Kitchen well equipped. Cabin had everything we needed. Although there were only 3 of us we loved the loft area. My grandkids wold have loved this area! It was huge. We were lucky enough to get a little snow before we left which was a treat for us because we live in Louisiana and rarely see it. The only small negative was the transportation of garbage to dump at end of visit. But the owner will work with you if this is a problem. Owner very responsive to your needs.

Clean, well-appointed cabin, great communication, neat to see moose

  • 5 of 5

Moose Crossing was very clean and the directions to the cabin were excellent. I agree with the other reviewers that the cabin is exceptionally well-equipped. We packed all our lunches and cooked all our meals and had all the cooking supplies, etc. that we needed during our week long vacation to Yellowstone. The interior pictures reflect the reality; actually I think the interior feels brighter than it looks in the pictures.

Some advice for other travelers: The West Entrance to Yellowstone is 20-25 minutes away, and trail heads are farther into the park, so getting to a Yellowstone hike from the cabin is at least an hour (and most are longer). Some other reviewers commented that it was nice to not be right in the town of West Yellowstone. I generally would also prefer not to be in town during a vacation, but, to be clear, this cabin is not secluded. The gravel in front of the house in the exterior picture titled "Taken in May 2013" is about the distance from the front of the house to a road, a road that was traveled both by cars and four-wheelers more often than we would have expected. If you are on the deck or by the fire pit, then your view is of either a suburban-distance away neighbor, the road, or a propane tank. I say this so that people can weigh "being in town" (and closer to the park entrance) against a longer drive (and more privacy than you'll have in West Yellowstone). Of course, I understand there is plenty to do in the area besides Yellowstone, so this advice is really just for Yellowstone travelers.

Also, I agree with the reviewer who commented that taking your trash to the dump and washing the towels could be inconvenient. The dump was on our way to Idaho Falls airport, so it was okay for us--but would be out of the way if you were leaving from West Yellowstone airport and, furthermore, if you are leaving outside of dump hours. The wash-your-own-towel requirement bothered me because it seems like whether your towels are clean depend on the good will of the previous tenants! I'd rather pay more if that is what it would take to have the towels cleaned with the sheets.

Home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We found this cabin to stay in for the 2017 Total Eclipse and then a Yellowstone visit. It was the perfect place for 2 couples. Although we did not bring any children there is a loft that is set up perfectly for kids. The cabin has everything needed for a comfortable stay. Great for families that enjoy cooking. The setting is beautiful and is a short drive to Yellowstone west entrance. Shawna was quick to respond to our reservation. If we ever find ourselves needing a place in this neck of the woods again this will be the first place I'll look for. Highly recommended!!!

Thanks Shawna for sharing your wonderful cabin with us!

Great and homey cabin!! Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

It was a wonderful place for our family of 6; Grandparents, son and wife an 2 grandchildren ages 10 and 13.

A great home base for us...one BIG regret, we wished we would have spent more time there...but too much to see and do....that was our own doing..we all would have enjoyed more evenings at "home at the cabin"!

Thank you Shawna for a wonderful home away from home!
