Book your memorable Colorado vacation today!
We have been vacationing in the area for over 20 years and finally purchased a home in Colorado. We have 2 kids that are 14 and 16. They love it too! The sun is almost always shining and there are so many outdoor activities to keep us busy enjoying quality family time together. We would like to share that with you!
We enjoy traveling the world and have stayed in many VRBO properties in many countries. We are excited to have a home to share with other adventure lovers.
Dex & Teresa Poindexter purchased this cottage in 2012
We had the opportunity to buy this 1928 Bungalow home in an area chocked full of history. We have compiled many books, movies, and newspaper clippings that were filmed or took place in the area for your enjoyment.
We feel this home has everything for a great vacation. It is very cozy to rest and renew. If you choose to keep busy that is available too! It is near the Arkansas River for world class fly fishing. There are plenty of trails to ride from the property. Hunting, Watching the wildlife, rock climbing, hiking, nearby whitewater rafting, etc. are all available here. There is truly something for everyone!
While the location is right on Highway 50 for convenience, it is so peaceful. The front porch is great for morning coffee and overlooking the Arkansas River. The mountains totally surround the property. Wildlife abounds!
There is no telling what wildlife you may see in the back yard from day to day. There are Mule deer and Big Horn Sheep that are always close by. Lots of red and gray fox that stop in from time to time. The resident rabbits are fun to watch as well. The winter months bring our Bald Eagles back to their nest across the river.
Thank you for letting us stay at your house,we had a wonderful time in Colorado ,it got a little smoky at night with the fires in the area but it was ok, we had a good time. The acomadations were very nice, thank you again!
This property was a good place to stay at but it really needs to be deep cleaned. If it was clean it would of been perfect except for the fact that there was no wifi. Being business owners of 2 different businesses it was frustrating because we had to leave and go to town to communicate with our employees. The children had a lot of fun in the yard. Speaking with the owners who live in Texas was very much appreciated. They are very nice.
We rented the house to have family time and outdoor adventures. All happened as planned. It was nice to be away from the hustle of cities!! The boys enjoyed the trampoline. It was quite nice to have the basement room--quiet spot to catch a nap. The kitchen was well stocked for our needs (mama didn't cook, we nuked) and the table easily sat all of us for meals and card games.
A bonus was that we did not have cell service, but had even more family time than expected. We had been warned about spotty service in the canyon. We had our grandsons (17 and 14) with us and they adapted well to being unplugged, but their parents were not aware we would be out of touch and were worried when they could not contact any of us. Perhaps something in your ad to suggest that we let family know we might not have service would help guests avoid this situation. My brain did not translate spotty service to "let the parents know".
City folk are used to locking doors. I was a bit uneasy that I could not lock the front door other than with a latch chain. But the back door was a terrific coded entry. Liked that for sure!
Thanks for sharing your house with us, it was exactly what we needed!!
We enjoyed our stay in this vacation home. The river was right across the street and the mountains were all around. The location provided a good base for our planned activities. We would definitely rent this house again if we return to the area.
My husband and I had an enjoyable weekend meeting my very best friend at a halfway point between our homes at the Texas Creek House. It had everything we needed for a weekend of fun with my buddy's two college age kids. The kids were comfortable in the basement and the adults were comfortable upstairs. My therapy dog was happy and enjoyed the large yard. The kids made a fire in the fire pit and we used the pancake griddle for a wonderful breakfast. We hooked our laptop up to the TV so we could play some of the DVD's we brought along. We worked on a puzzle that we brought along on the large dining table. It was a wonderful reunion for myself and my girlfriend who hadn't seen each other for many years. Thanks for making this wonderful house available for us. It is close to the highway but we didn't really hear it when we were inside the house. We were reminded to shop for groceries before we came and had a cooler full of food to keep everyone happy. The kitchen had all the appliances we needed and we even barbecued some chicken in raspberry sauce on the back deck and enjoyed the moon and stars. My buddy and I took the dog down by the river, we had to drive a short way to get to the access area. A happy weekend reunion for all of us, thank you so much. Perhaps we will do it again next year.
