About Doreen Jemison
We are a health conscious family who enjoys the simple pleasures of being outdoors, exploring new cities and towns, eating good food, and just hanging out with friends and family. Dave is a chiropractor and Doreen is a massage therapist in their office in downtown Lancaster.
Doreen Jemison purchased this House in 1993
Why Doreen Jemison chose New Providence
We raised our three children in this home and feel like it is cozy and welcoming with a good vibe. We have lived in Lancaster county for over 25 years and would love to share our favorite restaurants, attractions, and hiking trails with our guests. The home is set in a rural location, yet is easily accessible to many popular destinations. We are 45 minutes from Spooky Nook Sports, about an hour from Hershey, and 90 minutes from both Philadelphia and Baltimore.
What makes this House unique
Doreen loves to cook, so the kitchen is well stocked with cooking needs, herbs, and she may even leave some homemade cookies for you in the cookie jar. There is a large deck on which to grill and relax (a gas grill is provided.) Dave is an avid tennis player who can share where local courts are located.

A must stay....
If you are looking for a great place look no further. The bungalow is welcoming and soo spacious as well as stocked. The neighbors are nice and we felt as though we were home. Our group of 5 adults enjoyed sitting out on the back porch in the evenings cooking. The buggy watching from the side porch is a must and we already miss it!! We all enjoyed and appreciated the welcome basket too.
We hadn't even left before we started talking about wishing to return. I spent a long weekend in this beautiful, welcoming home with my parents and five children. It had been our intention to arrive early and settle and change before attending the Sight and Sound theater (approximately 20 minutes away) but we suffered so many travel delays that we went straight to the theater and returned "home" after dark. Imagine our delight when we arrived, exhausted, to this clean and comfortable space to find a thoughtful supply of things to nibble on (no spoilers here, but trust me, they were delicious!) and the golden glow of lamps left lit to welcome us in. As promised, we woke the following morning to the sound of hoof-beats going up and down the pavement, so we loitered on the side porch with our coffees, watching the horses and buggies go by for far longer than we'd planned. My youngest daughter enjoyed some of the craft supplies that had been furnished, my oldest son enjoyed the record player, and all of my kids climbed trees and played with the sporting equipment in the beautiful back yard. No screens necessary! Towels were plentiful, and eight of us had plenty of hot water. It had been our intention to take all of our meals in, but we did find Dienners restaurant and, so, needed only snacks for the evening, enjoying a delicious bottle of wine on the deck under the stars. We drove to Downingtown on Sunday to attend Grace Church, which was lovely, and what seemed like a daunting 40 minute drive was simple and beautiful through some of the most tranquil countryside we'd seen in a long time. Bring money for Amish roadside stands, and look for soft pretzels at the Bird in Hand Bakery (closed Monday!) The binder left by our hosts was wonderful; definitely take the time to peruse it before making your plans. We noticed a number of thoughtful little things, like the dog leash on the back deck for turning out any vacationing pups. We didn't bring our dog, but several of our party mentioned how nice that would've been to find if we had. The only thing we wished for was one more day of quiet on that beautiful side porch, and we certainly hope to return again one day!
Great cozy stay!
We really enjoyed our weekend getaway at that Bungalow! Great family house in Amish Country. Thank you again for having us!
Thanks again for staying with us. As my husband said as he started the cleaning process, “You could not even tell they were here!” We so appreciate guests who take such care of the bungalow.
Have a wonderful summer!
A great family getaway
This was the perfect place for our family to gather together. One of the best stocked homes we have rented and the welcome basket was a pleasant surprise! The deck was great for our extended family cookout and our grandson loved playing in the yard and watching the buggies pass by. Location was ideal for our purposes.
Thank you, Doreen and Dave, for your hospitality!
Oh- thanks so much, Kathy. Your family was wonderful and we are so glad the bungalow met your needs. Welcome back any time. The cookies will be waiting for you!

Our home is within a 15 minute drive of Strasburg, PA which is the location of Sight and Sound Theater, Rockvale and Tanger Outlets, 2 lovely antique centers, and the Strasburg Railroad. We would highly recommend the Speckled Hen as well- an adorable spot for coffee, lunch, or dessert. One can easily drive about an hour to Hershey, 45 minutes to Spooky Nook Sports, and 90 minutes to both Philadelphia and Baltimore.
