Beautiful, secluded lake house
I know they call them camps but this is a lake house. It big and beautiful. The property is huge and very private. We loved the 4 kayaks- took a couple trips out to the various islands, outside of the cove does require some arm strength though. We got to fish off the pier, swam a bit in the lake and used the fire-pit. There's a lovely veggie garden, and apparently that cove is the best fishing spot. My dad got a 20" northern pike from the pier. We loved the nice finishes in the house- really nice kitchen items, towels, etc. This is not a camp that's got the bare minimum. It was fun looking at the decor, which we can only deduce is from their travels around the world. Parts are a little outdated but my 3 yo girl loves the purple bath tub. The important stuff is updated though- stove, fridge, etc. My mom enjoyed playing the piano and my dad golfed a little in the yard. The sound proofing from the 1st floor master to the family room is great. Upstairs you can hear noise from downstairs. Mosquitoes came out after dark but that's everywhere. There's a cute park, Sewalls park, near by and you are close enough to Acadia, but even closer is the Bangor city forest and Orono Bog walk, that we really enjoyed. The house is literally the end of the road so it's a good 15 mins out of the lake area to the main road. But it's a pretty drive! We will definitely keep the property in mind for future visits to the area.
Thank you very much for choosing my house for your family vacation! I am glad you had a good time and made great memories! Anna
Magical, hidden treasure, a little bit of paradise!
This is the first place that my family has visited where we all agree that we wish we did NOT have to leave! The pictures you see do not lie! But you really can't imagine how wonderful this place is until you ARE THERE IN PERSON. If you are looking for a "getaway" that feels like a peaceful/spiritual sanctuary, you have found it here! But don't think quiet means "boring". For those who are more active, and want things to do during their vacation, (other than just relaxing and soaking up all the beauty of this amazing setting/atmosphere), this place provides that too. There are boats to take out on the lake, (life jackets provided), fishing poles, (but you must have a Maine fishing license), plenty of woods for hiking, board games, TV, fire pit, grill on the deck, etc. And for those wondering about food, provisions, and so forth, there is a fully equipped kitchen with stove/oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, coffee, tea, dishes, cookware and more. There is also a good sized grocery store just a couple of miles away for anything else one might need! And if all that isn't enough by itself, the residence is close to Acadia Park, Bar Harbor, Bangor, and many other wonderful sites to explore in the Bangor/Hampden area of Maine! Last but not least, if you have ANY questions/needs/problems, just text Anna, the owner, and she will get back to you ASAP! This lake house deserves MORE than 5 stars! It will NOT disappoint, and you too, will NOT want to leave!
Perfect lake house!
The house was absolutely amazing. We went for a week with my husband and our 3 small kids all under 3. We also stayed with my cousin his wife and their 2 kids 4, and 18 mos. The way the house was setup was perfect for us all. My family had the upstairs bedrooms and my cousin and his family had the master. There was plenty to do for all. The yard was huge and far enough from the lake we didn’t have to worry about the little ones running into the lake without being able to run after them first. Yet, it was also close enough to have a gorgeous view. There is not really a beach area at the house which I was a little bummed about however, there is a park 5 minutes away (Sewall Park) that was absolutely AMAZING! We spent a lot of time there during the trip. A few days we took our easy up made lunches and just stayed there for the day. It was perfect for the kids!! I highly recommend checking it out. We also went to the Children’s Museum one day when it was rainy in the morning. That was also fun. It’s about a 1/2 hour away in Bangor. If you’re a Stephen King fan he lives about 25-30 mins away in bangor and we drove by his home as well. It was really cool to see. Overall, I would definitely recommend this home to anyone considering it. Oh, lastly! If you’re an animal fan we made a few friends. Joey, who is the little pug next door came to visit almost everyday. He’s super sweet and lovable the kids adored him. There was also a porcupine that showed up a few times throughout the trip. Which was super cool to see!!
I did forget to mention the only thing I wish they would change is the grill. We weren’t super impressed by the grill they had. It’s not a regular propane grill it’s more of a large George Foreman grill which was a little disappointing but we made the best of it. Other than that the house literally had everything and anything you could ever need. The owners did an amazing job making it feel very homey and welcoming!!
Outstanding vacation rental property
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this lake home. The location was ideal - spacious, comfortable, well-appointed home; excellent family room with high-def big screen TV and lots of cable channels, plus wi-fi; large kitchen and dining area; plenty of bathroom space; perfect deck with grill and view of the lawn and lake; great location on the lake and near Old Town, Orono and Bangor, with Bar Harbor easily accessible; huge lawn perfect for family get-togethers, touch football, badminton and a fire pit; plentiful parking for visitors. Peaceful section of the lake, off the beaten path, nice for kayaking and swimming, and excellent fishing on evenings with little wind, with the fish swarming to get mosquitos/bugs skimming low over the water. We caught bass and white/yellow perch easily from the dock. The owners were very easy to contact. We were visited by a porcupine and several deer. We have spent many summer weeks at lake camp rentals in Maine over the years - this was easily our overall favorite home and location. We'll have to return some day!
