The Buglers Cottage which is a traditional stone cottage situated in one of the most sought after and desirable locations in Ireland. The cottage has just been extensively renovated and the entire property is beautifully furnished and exceptionally decorated.
The Cottage has been renovated into 3 separate apartments which are self contained and can be rented separately or the entire cottage can be booked for group travel...ie golfing groups, bridal parties, family getaways etc. The entrance lounge can then serve as an extra lounge.
The Beaufort Suite was perfect for us! My husband and I, as well as my parents stayed for 3 nights. Many times I find the apartment does not live up to the pictures advertised, but I thought this suite was BETTER than expected! The owner of the cottage, Julie, was very helpful in the week prior to our arrival answering many questions and offering suggestions on what to see and do in the area. We unfortunately did not get to meet her, however we were greeted very warmly by Chrissie her housekeeper who made for a smooth and welcoming arrival. The apartment itself was very clean and well maintained. Having two separate full bathrooms was very convenient in offering privacy to my husband and I as well as my parents during our stay - one ensuite, and one ensuite which opened to the main living area of the apartment. We just kept that door closed so my parents could have it as their private bathroom. There was another family staying in the suite next to us, but we never heard them.
The rural setting was exactly what I was looking for, very quiet and peaceful and in the most stunning setting at the start of the Gap of Dunloe. Killarney center was a short convenient drive from the cottage. If seeing the Gap of Dunloe is at the top of your "things to do" while on your holiday, this is where you want to stay. Whether you plan on hiking the trail as we did, or taking a pony and trap ride through, the start if your journey is just a 5 minutes walk away to Kate Kearney's Cottage. Because we weren't on holiday for long here, we had a lot to see in just a short amount of time. The Gap was by far our favorite part so staying in this location gave us the opportunity to wake early and walk some of the trail again before our busy days got started.
I suppose if there was one downside to this apartment, it would be that there is only 1 washer and dryer for the 3 apartments. The only time we ran into the other occupants was when we had to do laundry and just so happened they were needing the machines at the same time. Definitely not the end of the world - we all survived and succeeded in washing our clothes, but I can see where it might get a little bumpy if you are there when all 3 apartments are booked.
I have already recommended this place to several friends who may be traveling here in the future and we would surely book this suite again if we were to return. Thank you Julie and Chrissie for a lovely stay!!
my houseband, our little daughter (1 year) and I stayed for one week in the beauford suite and we loved it. The appartement is very nice and has everything you need for holiday.
There is a great pub 500 m away, where you get good food and drinks. The gap of dunloe is a nice walk and our daughter loved the horse-drawn jaunting cars, which pass at the front of the door of the cottage. The village Killarney is a very touristical place, but if you search peace the cottage is quiet enough and the national park gives you a lot of nice nature .
