Overview

About the property

3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home with large front porch and seasonal mountain views

HeathBrooke Cabin is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home in Seven Devils, NC - just off NC Hwy. 105 between Boone and Linville, near Banner Elk. 1 King & 2 Queen beds, plus 2 Twin beds in the loft mean this home can accommodate 5 to 8 people. (A cot and two couches boost the maximum occupancy to 10 or 11 for people willing to forego beds.)

(Search for HeathBrooke Cabin on Facebook for additional pictures and also a great events calendar for the High Country.)

After an easy - but typically curvy - drive up to Seven Devils, HeathBrooke greets visitors with a large front-and-side porch just above 3,700 feet in elevation. Depending on the season, beautiful sunrises can be seen from the front porch or from any of the front windows. The fire pit can be enjoyed year round.

The cabin is well-furnished with furniture and decor that will make you feel at home. It is not a cookie-cutter log cabin, but instead an updated mountain farm house. There is a mix of modern and rustic touches.

A speedy WiFi signal reaches every room and out onto the porch. Televisions in the living room, each bedroom and the loft have reliable cable with an expanded channel lineup (much more than basic channels). The large screen TV in the living room is also a smart TV, which makes it easy to watch Netflix, Hulu or other TV subscriptions.

If you enjoy cooking meals on vacation, you'll find the kitchen to be one of the better-stocked kitchens available in a rental cabin. The handcrafted dining room table seats 6 to 8, and the kitchen counter has four seats. A four-burner grill just outside the kitchen makes it easy to grill for a crowd.

Firm new mattresses, plus soft, clean and comfortable sheets and bath towels will noticeably enrich your stay.

Bed and bath linens (sheets and towels) are included in your stay. Leave them and your trash for housekeeping to take care of. A few toiletries may be available in each bathroom, but you should bring your own soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc.

HeathBrooke's location is great for people who want to be out of the way but still close to everything the High Country has to offer.

-Explorers of Grandfather Mountain will find few options closer than HeathBrooke. The parking area for Grandfather Mountain's Profile Trail is just 4 miles away!

-Otter Falls - 1 mile

-Hawksnest Zipline & Snow Tubing - 2.5 miles

-Sugar Mountain - 6 miles

-Valle Crucis/Original Mast General Store - 8-9 miles (depending on route)

-Appalachian State/Boone - 10 miles

-Entrance to Grandfather Mountain Mile-High Swinging Bridge - 12 miles

-Blowing Rock/Tweetsie RR/Appalachian Ski Mtn. - 12-15 miles

-Multiple points of interest on the Blue Ridge Parkway (Price Lake, Moses Cone Manor, Beacon Heights Overlook, Linn Cove Viaduct, Rough Ridge, etc.) - 11-15 miles

-Beech Mountain - 14 miles

-Linville Falls - 20 miles

-Elk River Falls - 21 miles

-West Jefferson - 36 miles

-Mount Mitchell - 61 miles

[A note about heating and air: Baseboard heaters provide heat in each room. Each one is independently controlled by a **thermostat that must be set in each room.**

As with many mountain homes, cooling comes from ceiling fans and mountain breezes passing through open windows. HeathBrooke does not have central air conditioning. This is quite common in the High Country where temperatures are rarely high enough to warrant a/c.]

[HeathBrooke does not currently have a hot tub, although one may be added in the future. In the meantime, the rates are set accordingly - making HeathBrooke an even greater bargain in the High Country!]

[Some rentals add another booking and/or processing fee on top of the processing fee already charged by this website. HeathBrooke does charge a cleaning fee, and also the standard taxes and processing fee. However, there's no adding of that booking/processing fee twice.]

About Brandon

I'm a native of southeastern North Carolina with a fast-paced, high-pressure job in South Carolina now. Just like you, HeathBrooke allows me a chance to escape to the High Country. I love being able to get out and explore without being too far out in the middle of nowhere.

Brandon purchased this cabin in 2016

Why Brandon chose Seven Devils

In real estate they say it's all about location, location, location. That's what originally attracted me to Seven Devils and HeathBrooke. Years ago when my uncle owned a home in the area, I learned how centrally located Seven Devils is. It's not far from Boone, Banner Elk, Linville, Grandfather Mountain, Valle Crucis, Beech Mountain, etc.

I also love that Seven Devils is easy to get to, and glimpses of Grandfather Mountain are common. The calm and interconnected streets are great for walking and bike riding. The town's public works crew is also great at snow removal on the roads.

What makes this cabin unique

What stands out most to me about HeatBrooke is the large front porch, the just-right size, and the big stone fireplace and chimney. It's also nice to see sunrises off in the distance during certain seasons. (Did you know the point at which the sun rises and sets moves? It's only due east and due west twice a year!)

The large covered seating area of the porch is not common, and it's a great place to sit back and relax.

I also love the flexibility of the loft space.

The cabin is comfortable and welcoming. It's a nice mix of modern finishes and rustic touches. You won't find the same old cliche of log cabin decor.

Comfortable, clean and overall great place to stay in the area.

  • 5 of 5

Group of 8 stayed in very comfortable rooms, big kitchen and all the amenities needed for a great stay. The kitchen had all the required items for any size meal, bathrooms were clean and large and all beds were in top condition. Outdoor fire pit with chairs was a nice touch. Wrapped around terrace with chairs to take on the views. Large TV, dinning table and full washer / dryer completed the great features. Will definitely stay again with another large group.

Perfect location in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

Perfect home, close to Hawks nest, Granfather mountain, Beech mountain and some more. House is cozy and the kitchen fully equipped. We spent New Years and it was magical my kids got to see snow right in the porch. If you need to contact the owner he is always available. Would definitely recommend to my friends and family.
