Why Kim Hadden chose Sanford
Floating Cottage is unique, charming, beautifully appointed and sits on one of the most beautiful rivers in the country. The marina where it is permanently berthed is small, quiet and offers full amenities, including pool, laundry and discounted boat rentals to cottage guests. A designated Clean Water Marina, it is surrounded by forests and is shared with abundant wildlife. The cottage offers a respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in cozy comfort. Folks who want to hike, to bike, to boat up the river will enjoy returning to the cottage.
What makes this Boat unique
The cottage has a unique attraction: when the turtles in the river sense that it is occupied, they swim up to the front porch to greet guests. They are encouraged by the cat kibble (from the pantry) that guests can offer them. This charming cottage has great curb appeal, has 550 square feet of living area, a full gourmet kitchen and lovely furnishings. Outdoor cooking is a breeze with the gas grill on the back porch. Being lulled to sleep by the barely perceptible movement of water beneath guarantees relaxation. Floating Cottage was featured on the HGTV program "Tiny House Hunters". Bathed in light, the cathedral ceilinged cottage feels spacious and comfortable. Two kayaks are available for guest use. Nearby Old Town Sanford offers night life, great restaurants and pubs, art galleries and a glimpse of history with its eighteenth century buildings, cobblestone streets and restored Victorian homes.

What a beautiful floating cottage. I’m so glad I finally booked a trip here.
The cottage is super clean and super cute! It’s so well stocked with everything you need from cooking utensils to plenty of towels and bedding. It’s quiet and peaceful( we were there during the week). We loved feeding the turtles off the back porch. It’s close to fun stuff to do. I highly recommend the floating cottage!!!!
Very nice unique experience. Kim was a great host and responded quickly to all emails and messages.
Our stay at the floating cottage
This was such am amazing property located in a Marina making it easy to rent a boat to explore the St John's River. We did not want for anything. The cottage was so cute with EVERYTHING included. Down to the turtle food. It had a full equipped kitchen and a cute loft to sleep with a pull out couch down stairs, a great deck to enjoy the turtles and occasional gator. We were close to Mt Dora full of great shops and Blue Springs park where we went tubing a must see and do. The marina had a great pool and bar and restaurant. We hated to say goodbye. It is like a home away from home. We will be back
What a lovely review! I'm thrilled that you enjoyed your brief stay in the cottage. Please come back and visit your turtles any time you want another floating cottage "fix". You make hosting a joy!
What a wonderful experience!
I can’t say enough about my husband’s and my experience on the floating cottage. From feeding our turtle friends, experiencing the calm of a rainstorm, and eating a wonderful lunch at The Deli to the long needed peace and relaxation that we never seem to get in our lives, we left with an addition to our bucket list that we would have never even considered prior to our stay. Kim provided all of the comforts of home during our stay. Our only regret is that our visit was too short.
I'm so pleased that you achieved your goal of relaxing afloat. Thank you for your stay and for your obvious respect for the cottage and the critters that greet you. Your review is heartwarming. Please visit again whenever you want a break from your workaday life.
The property was just as described. Kim was extremely responsive and answered all my questions...it was a pleasure to communicate with her. The floating cottage is incredibly unique as is the setting. I look forward to staying again!
Little yellow cottage
Don’t know where to begin, loved, loved it. A beautiful cottage, just makes you smile. I heard my granddaughter say it was one of the best days whe she got to feed the turtles(I loved them too) we did use the kyaks, but a little difficult to get out of but ended up going myself again since I enjoyed it so much. Thanks for a wonderful memory
What a heartwarming accolade for the sweet yellow boat! Thank you so much for your kind words, but more, for having a wonderful time with your family. Please visit again and bring more joy to the cottage.
Guests can choose to never leave the marina while kicking-back and enjoying the cottage. The options of cooking in the full kitchen, using the outdoor grill, or simply strolling to Connie's Deli or Chases on the River Restaurant and Bar are immediately available . The marina pool is adjacent to the restaurant and is always available for guests to enjoy.
Additionally, the cottage can provide a comfortable, efficient and cozy home base for relaxation and being on the river, while at the same time being close enough, about an hour away from the metropolitan scene of Orlando, as well as Disney World, and Universal Studios.
For the nature lover, renting a marina boat (15% discount to guests) to tour the St. Johns and Wekiva Rivers is a must. Bird lovers should bring a camera to capture unforgettable, abundant and unique birds. There is also the option to drive to Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge, just about an hour away and tour Black Point Drive to enjoy wetland birds and animals. Also in the Refuge, manatees may be seen at Haulover Canal.
Lake Apopka's Wildlife Drive, just thirty minutes from the cottage is a must-see for bird lovers. The wetlands abound with birds, easily viewed from vehicles on the one-way, unpaved, very stable road.
The Welcoming Book in the cottage offers numerous local attractions.
