Unique and totally wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Starfire cabin is a hand built log cabin by the host family that still emanates the love it was made with. In a quiet, peaceful location with deer off the deck every morning, this place is a marvelous retreat. Great hikes and outdoor sports nearby made this the perfect spot for us...wish we could have stayed longer!

Quaint cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

This place is amazing. If you are looking for a place to rejuvenate and relax this us it. Totally unplug from everyday stresses. The story of how this cabin was built is special. The lumber was logged off the land, the logs were stripped of their bark. The kitchen table was built from a large tree that fell on the property. All the craftsmanship put into this cabin by the owners is very special, espically the log beams for the ceiling. We saw moose while we were there and Mr. And Mrs. Orman were very at tentative to our needs while respecting our privacy. I highly recommend this cabin.

Beautiful retreat in the woods, not far from Sandpoint

  • 5 of 5

This cabin in the woods is the perfect retreat for a romantic getaway. My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our two nights here, in this beautiful hand-crafted cabin. We live in Sandpoint and enjoy vacationing in our own backyard, which this certainly is. You're close enough to Sandpoint to run back into town for anything important you may have forgot, but you're far enough away to feel as if you truly are in another world.

My favorite part of staying at Starfire Cabin was the garden that the owners have cultivated. What an amazing place to stroll in the fading light of day, plucking blackberries, strawberries, blueberries, apples and more while you walked. The owners of the cabin are more than happy to show off their garden to you, or you can stroll the grounds solo and discover it for yourself.

I also really liked the handcrafted nature of the cabin. It was built by the owners and their son, with personal touches like elk tracks stamped into the cement pad at the bottom of the stairs and tables and counters made from the beautifully milled wood.

There is a trail that goes up the hill just outside, and we enjoyed walking it every morning. We also liked heading down to Garfield Bay to rent stand up paddle boards for a couple hours. But honestly, once you arrive, you won't want to leave.

The loft makes a great space for games and relaxing, and I'm sure it would be a great spot for children to sleep. The outdoor area came complete with a bonfire and all the fixings to make it, a table and chairs to dine al fresco, and the front porch is equally as charming a place to watch the day end.

George and Kristina were wonderful hosts who live about 100 yards away. Close enough in case you need them for anything, yet far enough away to have your own space.

I appreciated the fact that there wasn't any television, and very happy that cellular telephone service was spotty at best (you can get a signal if you need one, but honestly, why would you?). It's too beautiful a place to spend watching TV or talking on your phone.

Overall, we're so happy for our weekend at Starfire Cabin and recommend it highly for those wanting to get out in the woods and live the good life for a weekend.

First seeing the cabin in it's forest setting, I knew we were in for a special experience. Our gracious hosts, Kristina and George made us feel welcome as they nestled us into our cabin. Beautifully decorated, cozy and comfortable, the cabin interior provided all we needed to relax, prepare meals and have a restful nights sleep. Outside, were trails, peaceful forest and mountain setting with grazing wildlife making great photo opts. Star fire Retreat will be a lasting memory for us and our trip to Idaho. We look forward to returning real soon!! Many thanks George and Kristina

We have just finished our fourth stay at the cabin and feel like it is our home away from home. The cabin itself is incredibly beautiful and we were lacking for nothing. The owners share fresh fruits and veggies from the garden and every morning we wake to deer or turkey outside our bedroom window. If you are looking for a quiet peaceful place to stay while visiting the Sandpoint area you will not find a better place.
