About Scott

My wife and I grew up spending summers on the rivers and lakes around the state. We now reside in West Michigan. I've always loved boating, biking and traveling. I was introduced to the Antrim Chain of Lakes many years ago & fell in love the first time I laid eyes on the amazing teal blue waters of Torch Lake and the miles of beautiful waterway's.

Scott purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Scott chose Northern Michigan

We have been visiting the Torch Lake and Bellaire area for years and dreamt of some day owning a place on the chain of lakes. Nearly every time boating on the chain of lakes my we commented how nice and peaceful the rivers were & if we ever had a chance to buy in the area that would be ideal. In 2011 we were blessed with an opportunity to buy a little piece of paradise in what we feel is one of the most peaceful locations on the chain of lakes, close to the sand bar but just far enough away that you're not disturbed by the noise of boats speeding around the lakes.

Although we'd like to spend everyday at the A-Frame we're happy to be able to share this little piece of paradise with others that want to live a little bit of the dream.

What makes this cottage unique

Its hard to find a nicer spot on the chain of lakes to enjoy some of the best boating and fishing the state has to offer. With Elk and Torch lake so close but away from the occasional rough waters that can develop it is a great location that touches on the best of everything the area has to offer. Being 5 minutes from the Torch Sand Bar and 20 miles from Traverse while feeling miles away from everything is hard to match. Having the ability to boat up to Dockside on the Clam River for lunch or cruise over to Elk Rapids for the afternoon is really nice. Just sitting back at the rivers edge watching the water flow by and boaters pass is a relaxing enjoyable experience.

Beautiful home and location!

  • 5 of 5

My family had a great time at the Aframe. Such a beautiful home and location. It was a little difficult going up and down the spiral stairs for grandma and my 3 year old, but with assistance we managed. We will definitely be back next year!! Thanks Scott!!

Good place to stay close to Torch Lake

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the house, river and the Torch lake. Nice place to spend vacation. Good fishing from the dock. Good amount of rock bass and perch we brought back home for cooking. Weekends the river and lake is busy but during the week not so many people. The owners let dogs stay in the house. That 's something positive for us too. We would definitely go back again.

Wonderful Torch River Cabin

  • 5 of 5

My small extended family (two couples and one teenager) just returned home from a visit to this Torch River A-Frame. We really loved it and were particularly charmed by its location on a quiet stretch of the Torch River. One of the reasons we initially chose it was its proximity to our son's Torch Lake summer camp, where he needed to be dropped off at the end of our visit. The cabin's particular location was amazing because despite the fact it was close to the action, it felt somewhat isolated, with no cabins across the narrow stretch of river where it sits. When at the cabin, we passed a lot of time sitting on the back patio watching wildlife (deer, chipmunks, turtles, birds) and canoeing the area. For this reason, I would recommend this house for people who love the outdoors. The only people I wouldn't recommend this home to would be people who have trouble with stairs, as there are two narrow spiral stairways that could be problematic. Otherwise, the house is great - beds are comfortable and the cabin itself is just as billed, stocked with the basic kinds of things you need when away from home. The owner was helpful and responsive, too.

Beautiful secluded wooded acre lot on the Torch River as it widens approaching Torch Lake. A short boat ride or paddle up river to the famous Torch Lake Sand Bar. The location is an ideal home base for boating and fishing the beautiful Elk River Chain of Lakes with a DNR boat launch just 1/3 of a mile down the street. You can keep your boat docked just 35 feet from the front door while being less than a mile from the amazing coral blue waters of Torch Lake to the north and Lake Skegemog and Elk Lake to the south.

Downtown Alden is just 5 miles away, a quick boat or bike ride away.

If you enjoy gambling or are looking for some evening entertainment the Turtle Creek Casino is just a 15 minute drive away. One of our favorite destinations is Short's Brewery in Bellaire where you can sample some of the best brew's anywhere and get a growler to bring back and enjoy on the deck while bird watching or having a fire by the river's edge.

There are some great restaurants in and on the way to Elk Rapids which is 20 minutes away by car or take the boat and dock at the Elk River marina.

It is 20 miles to Traverse City where you can enjoy many opportunities for dining, entertainment and more.

The A-frame is ideal for kicking back, relaxing on the rivers edge and experiencing the peaceful tranquility of Northern Michigan in a private wooded setting that is hard to find an inland lake.
