This newly renovated home is located on Long Island just off of Grand Island in the Sacramento River Delta. There are 3 queen bedrooms and 2 baths on two levels overlooking the river. In addition, there is a sleeper sofa for overflow for total sleeping space for 8. For the warm summer, an outdoor shower is privately located just under the main deck. Well behaved family pets are welcome, although the yard is not fenced. TV, satellite and wi-fi are available along with hundreds of VHS tapes and DVDs. The house has private docks both on the river and in back on the slough (or the dredge cut as it's known), so boat in or put the boat in the water at one of several nearby launch ramps. Fish off the docks or relax on the covered deck while watching the local skiers and fishermen work the water out front. Wood fire pit and comfortable outdoor furniture allows our guests to fully enjoy the weather at any time of year. There is an office set up in the lower bedroom, just in case you need to keep in touch while you're away.
We bought this house as a fishing shack and to have a berth for our 32' Erickson sailboat and have remodeled extensively in the years since. In fact, we lived in this house while reworking the house next door --where we live today. We are boaters who enjoy all the Delta has to offer and this house puts you so close to the water, you'll never want to leave. At least that was our story and why we moved from Sacramento. We are also active private pilots and involved in Sacramento real estate.
Martha Pearson purchased this house in 1996
Life is just better on the water --and you can't get any closer than this. The view, the immediate access to the water activities we enjoyed were why we chose this place to call home. If you don't do anything but sit and enjoy the view of the river, you'll be entertained by the water skiers and island is qient and charming with really nice neighbors. This kitchen in this house is a dream and stocked well with good quality appliances, dishes and cookware. If you're looking to cook up a few fancy meals while you're with us and wonder about specific items, just ask and we'll see what we can do to accommodate. We always stock the basics but include coffee, tea, spices, foil and plastic wrap as well. There is usually something edible in the yard --the Delta is known for it's lush abundance, and this property is no exception. We encourage our guests to take advantage of what we grow which will obviously change with the seasons.
Being on the water with your own dock means that you can take a quick water ski run, or fish a little then relax a while only to do it again without the hassle of taking the boat in and out of the water. The Delta is beautiful and this location is convenient to the Grand Island Mansion and the Ryde Hotel, both wonderful wedding venues. Isleton is about two miles and Walnut Grove about 10 miles. Delta fishing is awesome and this is great water for skiing -- right out front. From either of the two decks overlooking the water, the line between inside and out is deliberately blurred so you're encouraged to spend the days with the doors wide open to the great Delta weather. For cooler months, there is a cozy gas fireplace and heated floors to make things comfortable.
This place is truly, heaven on earth!!!
We are already booking our return!!!!
Super great owners!!!!!
The home is right on the Sacramento river and near the town of Isleton. Big bedrooms and great bathrooms. The chefs kitchen was a HUGE plus for us. We prepared some big meals so it made it easy to accommodate us. The deck is perfect for sipping coffee in the morning and watching the sunset in the evening. Would highly recommend it to anyone staying in the Delta.
This was a return trip for the 4 of us - again, we thoroughly enjoyed everything about our stay. We did more exploring and less successful fishing - they weren't biting!! A wonderful break - we will definitely do it again!
This was my second stay here, and this time I brought friends, because a vacation retreat as nice as this one can be shared without fear that they won't find it as exceptional as you do. We cooked breakfasts and dinners in the gourmet kitchen, slept in luxurious linens on comfy beds, enjoyed showers with a variety of shower heads and had morning coffee on the deck, sitting in relaxing Adirondack style chairs. The owners live next door and were attentive if we needed anything, without being intrusive. I'm coming back again soon. By the way, a little restaurant called the Hideaway Outrigger serves a heaping cioppino that is very good.
This is our second time to the home and it still won over our hearts! Its so cozy, relaxing, clean, and peaceful. We had a lovely time BBQing, waterskiing, and paddle boarding. We had two babies this time around and the front room worked out to be a great space to look after them. We ended up booking the house again in two weeks because we had such a lovely time. For the price you pay for the beautiful home you can't beat it!
I rented Martha's and Robert's vacation home to be close to my daughters wedding venue and family members. To our surprise the home was beautiful, extremely well taken care of, with the most amazing bedding and decorated top notch. I would rate our experience a 10 plus! One of our most precious surprises would be our new friendship with Martha and Robert. The both of them are truly a sweet and kind couple.
