About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 8)

Seneca Solitude is a year-round cottage that is tucked away just a mile and a quarter off Route 14. Travel through rolling farmlands and down our private drive (shared with two neighbors) and you will feel like you are miles away from the world.

Seneca Solitude has everything to make your lakefront vacation memorable, relaxing and fun! We like to call the view from our Great Room windows “the Million Dollar View”. It feels as if you are standing in the middle of the lake itself as you drink in the panoramic view! This view is shared by the kitchen/dining room, master bedroom and 3rd bedroom/family room.

One of the most compelling reasons for you to rent our home is our beautiful lakefront and breathtaking view of Seneca Lake. We have 110 feet of level lakefront for you to enjoy. This is great if you are bringing the kids since the little ones can safely play at the water’s edge. Our dock extends 50 feet out into Seneca Lake, long enough for you to get a running start and jump off! The dock opens up into a wide space at the end. There is a picnic table out there so you can enjoy your meals or snacks out on the lake. Sip your morning coffee, a glass of wine or just relax in the Adirondack chairs that have been placed out there for you as you soak in the breathtaking view of Seneca Lake at her widest point. There is also a deck, with covered pergola, accessible from the great room and master bedroom, with a brand new tile dining table, hanging lights to illuminate your evenings outside and outdoor speakers to listen to your favorite tunes. We have two kayaks and a paddleboat for those who want to venture out onto the lake. The kids will love making s’mores over our fire pit or roasting hot dogs for a campfire dinner!

Do you like to cook? Our kitchen has been updated with you in mind! A new stove with ventilation, new countertops, center island, and all the implements and utensils you will need to whip up wonderful meals are at your fingertips. There is also a new grill if you would prefer to cook outside and enjoy eating your meals alfresco! The kitchen is two steps up from the great room and designed to give you the same amazing view!

Our Great Room is just that: Great! If you want to take yourself indoors for a while and still enjoy our beautiful view, this is your room! Relax on our comfy sofa and loveseat with recliners while watching the 51” flat screen HDTV. If you would just like to read a book or look out over the lake with a glass of wine, the other side of the great room has another loveseat for you to curl up on. Games, puzzles and a blu-ray player are also available for your entertainment. Satellite TV and Internet access complete the picture! The house has central air condition to keep you cool on hot summer days!

Our bonus room functions as an extra gathering space during the day and converts to a private 3rd bedroom with a queen-sized Murphy bed at night. If the kids want a space for themselves, this is the room for them, with a 42-inch flat screen HDTV available.

The master bedroom has a 32-inch flat screen HDTV as well as an ensuite bathroom that has just been renovated. It contains a tiled bathtub/shower combination, beautiful tiled floors and walls and a round porthole window to truly make you feel like you are afloat on Seneca Lake! Wake to an amazing view of the lake every morning from your bed; what a great way to start your day! Bring your iPod and you can listen to your favorite music on the ihome alarm clock on your nightstand.

There is a second remodeled bathroom with a new tiled shower and tiled walls and floor. Complementary toiletries are available to tide you over in case you’ve forgotten anything from home!

Our second bedroom contains a full sized bed and a 26-inch flat screen HDTV also. It is a cozy, intimate space to rest up and dream about your next day on Seneca Lake!

We also have a semi-private alcove with a bunk bed that is great for the kids!

Come and make Seneca Solitude your base of operations for your Finger Lakes vacation!

Why Michael Denio chose Keuka Lake

We have been visiting the Finger Lakes area for 25 years. We began looking for a house on Seneca Lake a few years ago and finally found one that we fell in love with. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

What makes this house unique

What struck us most about this home is the amazing panoramic view from the Great Room and the gorgeous lakefront! We have completed renovations to the kitchen and bathrooms and have updated the decor and amenities. We are far enough from the main road to give you that 'getting away from it all' feeling, but close enough so that you can easily get to all the wonderful places that the Finger Lakes have to offer!

Car: necessary

We are located in the middle of over 60 wineries around Seneca Lake. There are also many other wineries around Keuka, Cayuga and the other Finger Lakes.

" Serenity Now "

This was our first vacation in The Finger Lakes. We always use VRBO and after searching we came upon Seneca Solitude. The most important aspect of a vacation outside of the weather is where you stay and the accommodations. The bill was fit quite nicely in this Wonderful Lakeside home. The View cannot be overstated. Upon arrival we watched as osprey fished on Seneca Lake and the sun set. This picturesque home is so inviting , clean and comfortable. Everything is easily accessible, especially to the Lake. We had 6 adults and my 11 month old grandson. The bonus room worked perfectly for my son and his wife giving them privacy with the baby. The Master Bedroom and bath was very comfortable and well appointed , especially nice was waking up to that Extraordinary View. Our 2 girls took the other bedroom and we all slept peacefully throughout our stay. The kitchen and dining area was laid out in close proximity to the Family Room with "The View" you will never tire of , and had all the comforts of home. Outside ,We really took advantage of the kayaks and paddle boat. What a great way to experience the Beauty of Seneca. The tiered decks allowed for multiple settings of leisure as we barbecued on the convenient gas grill and enjoyed the dock as well. Michael , The owner could not have been more attentive and gracious, providing us with answers to any questions as well as suggested places of interest. We took advantage of nearby Watkins Glen State Park. It is a must see. The gorges and waterfalls are breathtaking. We also visited Ithaca and Taughannock Falls State Park. They are well worth the drive. We were very impressed with the excellent road conditions. It made driving a pleasure. My son and I played golf at nearby Lakeside Country Club . I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to play while here. It was first rate and in impeccable shape. Lots of great ice cream stops nearby and a Great Brewery just down the lane from the house called Climbing Bines Hop Farm. Lastly, The wineries are incredible. We especially enjoyed Ravines , But there are many quality ones as well. I started this review referencing the weather , which was sensational and the accommodations. If you want to enjoy the Beauty and Serenity of Seneca Lake then by all means please consider staying at Seneca Solitude. You'll be glad you did. " Serenity Now " , Rob

Secluded location close to local attractions

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a nice stay at Seneca Solitude. The cottage offered plenty of sleeping space for a family of five and we made good use of the property both inside and out. It's a well-designed home that offers lovely views of the lake from the master bedroom, the kitchen and great room, and the extra sitting/sleeping area. We rented paddle boards from Reagans and our kids had a blast on the water all week. My husband and I walked the dirt road to Climbing Bines brewery several times to enjoy a craft beer and a game of cornhole. We also did tastings at Glenora, Heron Hill, and Starkey's Overlook. We took the whole family to The Spotted Duck for ice cream, The Wienery (crazy good gourmet hot dogs) for lunch, Glenora for breakfast, Watkins Glen for a hike in the gorge, around to the east side of the lake one evening for dinner at Stone Cat, and for a morning sail on the schooner True Love out of Watkins Glen. We had grilled dinners on the porch while listening to music over the cottage's awesome indoor/outdoor sound system, enjoyed coffee and wine on the dock, and watched family movies on the big HDTV in the great room. Unfortunately, we found the beachfront of this property unpleasant during the week we stayed because it was covered with giant piles of bug-infested lake weed and muck. My understanding from talking to family and friends in the area is that the lake levels were quite high at one point this summer due to excessive rain, so we suspect that as the cause. Also, as outlined in the description of amenities, WiFi is very limited. That was fine by me, but warn the teens! Overall, this was a good rental experience and we recommend it. The reservation process was easy, the terms generous, and our security deposit was returned just a few days after we arrived back home from vacation.

very disappointed

  • 2 of 5

Your web pictures must be about 5 years old. The inside is ok and the appliances are great but there is little to no maintenance on this place. The grill was covered in old grease and we had to clean it in order to use it. The dock and steps needed paint a few years ago. The kids got splinters in their feet from walking on them so had to wear shoes to go out. Some boards on steps and dock were really spongy and if someone falls through they could be hurt. You are open to a lawsuit there. Tall weeds everywhere, no gardening has occurred. The gutters so full they are useless. So much seaweed removed desire to swim. The ladder on dock useless with seaweed covering it. We had to sweep dead bugs off kitchen floor when we arrived. At least they were dead! The boats were nice and the view is great. It is such a shame that this property in not maintained! We will not be using VRBO again as this place was not as advertised! We guess that the owner just wants to make money from it and not do any maintenance.

Perfect & Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Wow! What a perfect long weekend at Seneca Solitude! It was even better than the pictures. You feel like you are literally on the lake, and the sound of the lake waves crashing to the shore is the most peaceful and beautiful sound.

The house is perfectly located to hit great wineries, spend time at the local brewery, or head into town. We enjoyed a great hike in Watkins Glen as well.

This house is perfect for couples or families. Nothing but great things to say and I can't wait to go back!

Thank you!
